I don't know??? I drive a Chevy (old one) so I guess that is a vote for Chevy but I don't know that it really matters. American cars have made great strides in quality since the back in the 70's and 80's when the Japanese were putting out the best. Didn't one of the American car makers surpass the foreign makers on dependability recently? I am talking about unbiased measurements of dependability not opinions.

Choose what you like there is winner or loser
Worked on Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Toyota, and Nissans. They all got their problems. All these manufacturers do copy something here or there from Ford for a reason though due to its been best selling truck for along time.

Biggest problem is shade tree mechanic Freddie tries to fix his truck. Use aftermarket parts which some are inferior parts to save a few buck or don't solve the problem just put a bandaid on the problem.

If you find a dealer you like, feel comfortable driving the truck, can afford the truck, and you find a service department you like then that is what should be the best to you.

These days both Ford, Chevy, and Dodge stepped up their quality. Ford always been a work truck with stronger frame and safer truck. GM always been a known as a truck for hwy driving. Comfortable just lacks some safety features Ford has.

I personally drive Fords and have a 2009 due to its what I like and can afford. Can't say anything about a man that likes GM, Dodge, Toyota, or Nissan either.

It's kinda a given that I'd go with that since my dad was the GM manager at Durham Autoplex for a long time. Not only did I grow up around GM vehicles, but I also grew up around alot of ford owners who had to take their trucks to the shop on a regular basis, granted I have seen one or two that lasted a good while. Ford - Fix Or Repair Daily, and I have seen plenty that constantly had something going wrong.

Chevrolet/GMC Don't have anything against Ford until I heard the horror stories of changing spark plugs in the F150.

i am on my second chevy with 200 plus thousand miles, first one 92 v6 sold it with 230, currently driving a 96 v8 with 222 on it just wish the tranny would last as long as the engine, they all have good ones i have seen fords go 200 plus, and i have a friend with a dodge that has 200 plus, but i have better luck with chevy (some what)

You couldn't give me the keys to a government motors vehicle, or any american made for that matter they are all junk. Unions have ruined this country and I try my best not to support them. Give me a rice burner.

had them all
Had one of each. Currently 2010 Ford. Side by side this year I pick Ford. I might change my mind 5 years from now when it's time for a new one.

My truck is a GMC 1500 Sierra Z71 and it has 261,000 miles and a bunch of that is towing a 22' bay boat. The truck has had very very very little repairs. Every day I am still impressed with how good it still runs and drives. I have to tell you that my horn finally went out so I'm thinking of writing a letter of complaint to GM! :)

I've had two explorers. Got rid of the first one running fine with 262K miles and still driving the second one. It's got right at 200K. Before that I had a Chevy S-10, which was also a good truck. I find that the Fords have a little better fit and finish. Had a little problem on my S-10 with things like door handles breaking, radio knob falling off... all minor, but aggrivating things. As far as I'm concerned, that's the major difference. Either one will run forever if it's taken care of.

I heard the other day from somebody that 92% of Fords bought after 1998 are still on the road today.......the other 8% actually made it home... :~) LOL!
Sorry Cajunhopper....the ONLY reason Ford 150 are the best selling is because they don't combine the sales from Sierra and Silverado. Which we all know are made buy the same company. Not trying to start a heated battle that is just the way it is.....but anyway Ford, Chevy, GMC, Toyota, Nissan all assembled right here in the USA. Made from parts from overseas.

Ford over Chevy for now.
It's been my experience with Americans voting on something that even the majority can be wrong(OBAMA). Plus some will support there screwed up decision and live with their mistakes. Most don't like admitting their mistakes. Also some of the people voting could be to young to drive.

My 2001 Silverado has 299,843 miles on it and I've had no major issues other than normal wear and tear; 3 water pumps, 1 fuel pump, leaking heater coil, and an oil leak on the rear main seal. I pull a 22' boat, 130 miles each way to G.I., 15 to 20 times every year and no problems with the transmission. Although I've had good luck with this one, I probably won't buy another one now that the Federal Government is part owner in GM.

depends on what your looking for in a truck...
Kind of a dumb poll but I gotta show my support for Ford. Chevrolet's are nice truck with comfortable ride but doesnt compare to Ford as far as capability. Fords ride rougher and get worse mileage but is a far better truck for towing and hauling. GM trucks are better for light duty tasks and racking up highway miles but Fords are far superior for using your truck the way it was built to be used.

I still have my 97 Z71 with 386,000 miles and it runs like a champ. Replaced the transmission twice and the AC just quit working, but I blame that on it sitting up most of the time. But...I drive a Tundra now.

My dad has had two Chevy's since that one and they were both garbage.

I have been driving GM's since I been driving. Put 186,000 hard miles on my 95 350 as a teenager and into my early 20's and never had a problem. Now I have a 04 GMC Z1 with 133000 miles. The 4wd computer went out on it, thats it.

BUT, those F250's are NICE!!! Making me think long and hard about the next one.

Hmmm
Lots of miles in Fords with little or no problems. I've had some GMC and Chevy's that did ok also. Have two F-150s right now-one with 225000 and the other with 115000. Had good luck with Yukons and Suburbans but, if I were to go buy a brand new truck today-it would have to have the blue oval. Ford hands down.

Chevy/GMC all the way
my vote goes to the gmc/chevy trucks. my dads had 364000 miles on the same engine, transmission and motor mounts. mine has 223000 on the same engine, transmission and motor mounts. very few problems. both are 2WD.

I vote FORD. I have a super cab F-150 right now and love it. I have owned a ranger and a single cab ford and loved both of those trucks. i had a chevy s-10. it was terrible. it ruined my chevy opinion. the only thing i can say about gmc/chevy that is really better is the ride and gas milege. they are alot smoother and better on gas. i will take my stiff riding fx4 ford and gas guzzler any day over chevy. i got some chain in my truck right now if someone wants to hook up!!!!
Reply
choice is yours
Depends on what you use it for. I'm rough on my trucks and the 07 F-250 4x4 loves it that way. Had a 2007 4x4 sierra before it and it was a nice truck. Had a 99 GMC that had 210K and never had a problem with it, but I also had a Ranger w/ 267K when sold. If you plan or working I'd go Ford. If your into a good smooth ride and shiny 20" wheels, get GOVT MOTOR...
The only GM vehicle I will ever own is in my driveway - 1981 K10 on 38's - pulled by da Ford....

Toyota is recalling 2000-2003 Tundras because the frames rust out. Wow, nice work there.

Reminds me of Nissan in the early 90's. Remember when they bought back every Nissan mini-van in the U.S. because they were spontaneously combusting?
