Whent to lease last weekend in Winnfield to shoot some tree rats and have birds gobblin from sun up to about 9:30. Even got to see 5 real nice long beards in the woods and a smoke phase tom with about 9-10" beard. Hope he messes up in a few weeks. BONES

You guys think this week it should start up? The warm-up next week should get them started. Can't wait to hear the thunder! Let's keep each other posted on the site on activity, obviously without giving too much away on our spot, you know - I hunt the N. Shore, I hunt in the North East corner of the state, etc.

I went Fri, Sat,and Sun morning in Livingston Parish. I went to different spots each morning. Friday I heard some hens cackeling at fly down. Saturday I heard 1 gobble 8 times, but as soon as he hit the ground he shut up. Sunday morning I didn't hear anything. Maybe this year they won't be gobbled out before the season close's.

wing bone I agree, last year they were gobbled out, but we are a week earlier this year (and the cold wet weather)I hunt grant and rapides parish. what do you think was the reason for no gobbiling sunday morning?

The place I listened Sunday has a OLD turkey there. I've hunted him for 3 seasons and he was a long beard in '07. Maybe the conditions wasn't just like he likes 'em, or maybe old age finally killed him! He knows how the game works. The turkey I heard Sunday is a 2 year old. My guess is that the 2 year old was just excited, but heck who knows. I did talk to a guy at work this morning and he heard on yesterday evening gobbling in the tree.

Mud Turtle, as you read from my post of Hunter's First Turkey. No one heard a bird the hold weekend of the youth turkey hunt in Sherburne. We hunted all day except a couple of hours at noon for lunch. It might have bend due to the cooler wheather that came in Friday night.
