Fish?

Reply
O.K.-I went to a spot yesterday hoping to stick a few. Weather was beautiful with very little wind. Water extremely clear,I could see bottom in about 6 foot. Located some beds with fish either on them or within a foot of them. Tried a lizard,a pig,a grub and several worms/craws. Bumped them on the head, drug it across their backs, let it set for minutes at a time and just wiggled it. In short tried everything I could think of. Only caught four fish and no real size to them. What am I doing wrong?

i've been there before... if you see them, they see you. they will not bite... it's like they freeze. i did the exact same thing in Miller's lake last year... very frustrating.

I kept the sun in front to keep my shadow from hitting them, I snuck in as quietly as I could and tried to stay as far back as I could to keep them from seeing me. From as far back as I could get I would softly land my bait 2-4 feet past the bed. I could barely see their shadow from that distance but I could still see them run. They would turn and come right back but would not hit. Will try again monday. Friend of mine said that once they laid the eggs they would become more protective and attack intruders better?

Last time I fished under the lights there were a bunch of gar roaming. I decided to put on a super sharp worm hook, 5 ought, I believe. I would wait for those suckers to swim by and toss the hook over em and SET THE HOOK!!!! I caught and ice chest full. That was awesome!

Sorry for the thread jack.

I had that problem last year pond fishing. I found an old looking bagley crank that looked identical to a small brim. Do you notice how they chase brim away from their bed and come back? I did.... I used the crank and worked it slow over the bed, sped up for the chase.... then slowed down a bit and when they nipped it.... i got 'em

I found these baits on a web site try this one

ANY bass on a bed can be caught, and usually pretty easy.

Pick any white soft plastic you can see good. Use a 1/4 ounce slip sinker, Texas rig. Doesnt matter if she sees you or not. ONLY PITCH ON HER, AIM FOR HER HEAD, WHEN SHE IS ON, ON, ON, ON THE BED. REPEAT, ON THE BED. Do not pitch at her when she moves off. As soon as you hit her, pull the bait out and do it again. DO NOT 'WAIT' FOR HER TO PICK IT UP. You should be able to make at least 10 pitches in a minute if she stays, almost like fly fishing. She can only take so much, she will hit it.
