Delacroix Report:

Great fishing yesterday in the Delacroix Marsh. Brisk NE winds greeted us which did not matter since we were fishing inside the protection of the marsh. It actually kept it cool and the voracious gnats at bay! We caught fish at every spot we tried except for one. Ironically, the only place we did not catch fish is typically one of my best producing inside spots. On the flip side, I learned two new spots and will be back to work them over in the very near future. We caught trout, redfish, flounder and black drum along with a few gafftopsail catfish and hardhead catfish. The artificial lure was king today. The hot bait was a cocahoe in smoke
color on a 3/8 ounce jighead. We did catch a few fish on live cocahoes carolina rigged. The trout were up to 17' with very few undersized fish. The reds were perfect grillers 18-22' with a few bulls up to 34' mixed in. We also battled two giant black drum in the 30 lb class. We fished the interior marsh working choke points and passes. The fishing is getting ready to bust wide open so get out there and get into the action!
