Albino Catfish

Reply
A buddy of mine's daughter caught these two albino cats last night. I took the picture, I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself!

Catching one would have been a real feat, but nabbing two is amazing.

Wow that is really wierd. Are they even the same species??? The one on the right side of the picture looks different. Is that one an albino flathead catfish or am I just seeing things.

Albino catfish (a genetic anomaly causes their lack of pigment) are not uncommon. They are no different than any other of their species except for the coloring (they are just as tasty). They are actually preferred over 'normal' cats in the commercial industry because of their beauty (for aquariums) and their visibility (for stocking lakes). The latter is their downfall in the wild. They are so visible to predators, the albino cat seldom lives long enough to become an adult. GOOD CATCH!

They remind me of my legs the other day.. when I put shorts on for the first time to go fishing. Long winter...

For some reason the last picture has lightened up a lot for me now and I can make out the catfish a whole lot better. I thought that it might have been a flathead but now I can plainly see that it is not.
