Darren Cooper and I hit the lower Atchafalaya Basin not knowing what to expect, since two scouting trips had resulted in NO keeper bass.
However, we got on a pattern quickly, catching fish by swimming jigs around flooded trees. The limit was rounded out with Brush Hogs.
Most of the bites came before 10 a.m. while clouds obscured the sun. But the result was a limit going 10.23 pounds.
That was enough to win Cooper's company tournament.
There's still a lot of stinking black water, but you can find mixing water throughout the lower Basin.
I know I should have photos from the trip, but we were fishing so hard I didn't even pull the camera out.
