UPDATE!!!!!:

First off thanks for everyones help on here.

I found a used 2006 Bass Tracker with a 115 18 foot. I am in the process of deciding to purchase the boat and need some suggestions.

Its a 2006 v18 all fish with a 2006 Mercury 115 opitmax with ss prop. It has 40 hours on it. It has a trolling motor, 2 fishfinders, extra seat, boat cover, 2 live wells, trailer (with spare).

I went look at it today. The motor is in great shape along with the inside, but the port side has some scratch that has taken off the sticker from docking. He also said that the gas float in the gas tank had got stuck, but He has agreed to get boat serviced and to replace the sticker and get float in gas tank replaced? 11,300 is whats on the table.??

Im a bit nervous on buying a boat so if anyone can give me what there opinion on my potential purchase it will really help. What yall Think?

Thanks

My great aunt just bought a new 17.5 tracker with a 40 4stroke on it and I can tell you that it takes about 20 seconds for it to get on step. So you for sure want something more than a 40. The boat itself is set up nice with the rod box in the front running right up the middle. She got hers from Basspro in Shreveport, they advertise the price on the net.

I personally own a 18ft Xpress with a 115 yamaha and think it is one of the best alum boats made. I fish on Toledo and most of the time in the backs of creeks so I hit plenty of stumps and have no complaints. If I remember right the Xpress 17.5 with a 50 is around 15K though, that was a quote from Alexandria. Depends on how you get it set up too though and what hull you want.

xpress
hey man i have a 17 ft xpress with a 90 yamaha and i love it. i redfish and bass fish with it. that thing is great. i would definately reccomend getting one. and get you something bigger than a 50! those little motors on the back of big alluminum boats like xpresses and bass trackers only push the boats around 25 mph maybe 28mph at max. im telling you a 90 yamaha is the way to go

You sure you want a aluminum boat? I'm thinking about getting rid of my boat. I haven't put it up for sale yet. I owe a little more than $13k on it, but I would pay it down to that if your interested. Its a 17.5' Stratos with a 115 optimax on it. Its only 3 years old. Its a 275 pro xl, Extra wide 93' beam.

G3
I have a G3 17.5' with a 75 yamaha 4 stroke and its been pretty good. Runs 45mph gps. A friend of mine has a Lakesport 17 ft with a 115 yamaha 4 stroke that i absolutely love. Thick metal and he runs 55 mph, he paid 15K new, i paid 12,500 for mine and it's been worth it.

go custom
I'd stay far away from the traker boats. I had a 17 with a 75 and it just did hold up well at all. If you are dead set on a assembly line boat go with an xpress they are good boats and I know a bunch of guys that love em, but in my opinion spend the extra money and get a custom made boat. You get it exactly how YOU want it. Give casey at sportsmans fab in morgan city a call he builds great boats at good prices. Trust me you will be glad you did.

Best purchase ever. Go all day and then some on a tank of gas with a 50 HP Four Stroke.

Xpress
Personally I like the Xpress boats. I have a 17ft Aluma-Weld (Xpress bought them out) from 1992 that still has no leaks despite being put through some tough spots, all electronics work on it, and I have a 60 Yamaha 4 stroke. The boat goes 35mph on gps, but I will admit has problems getting on step with more than 2 people in the back of the boat when the gas tank and the livewell are full. If you can upgrade to a 90, that would be the way to go for sure.

Xpress
I just got rid of a 17 foot xpress to buy a 19 foot Xpress X19. In my opinion they are the best aluminum boats you can buy. They have plenty of features and a great hull. If you get one with the hyperlift hull it will go at least 5 to 10 mph faster than any other boat, same length and motor.

a 50???
in my opinion, a 50 on a 17 1/2 ' boat is to small!!! not only, it will not go to fast, but it will work the engine really hard and burn a lot more fuel??? my opinion!!! i have a 16' alumacraft with a 60 yamaha 4 stroke! i get 42mph and on a 9 gallon tank, gets about 4- 4 1/2 hours running time on 9 gallons of gas!!!

Seaark !
Don't want to get a big argument started here, but before you buy Xpress, look at seaark. All the guys here run them and they are thicker hull then xpress and the same money. Good luck
