Baton Rouge Fishermen

Hello there gentlemen (and ladies ),

Just wondering if there are any fishermen in the Baton Rouge area who are looking for someone to fish with them sometime. I love to fish for bass, sac-a-lait, bream, catfish, reds/specks/flounder, really anything. ( though, I'll admit that as much as I would love to, I've never been saltwater fishing in a boat, just surf/pier )
I lived near Thibodaux for a few years when I was young, so I've fished the Spillway, False River, Lake Verrett, Lac des Allemands, and a few other local waterways, and I really enjoy fishing in South Louisiana, as opposed to further north. I desperately want to get a boat ASAP, but until then, I'd do anything to be able to get out on the water once in a while.

I am a 31 y/o white male, former USAF, LSU graduate. I am originally from Alexandria, LA. My family has a boat up in Alexandria, but I don't have a boat down here so I very rarely get to go fishing anymore....only when I drive up to Alex.

If you're looking for a good fishing partner who is good company, is very helpful, loves fishing more than anything, and would give you money for gas/oil/bait/etc, then please e-mail me sometime. I love fishing, but honestly, I could go out and not catch a single fish and still enjoy myself. I just love being out on the water. Don't worry, I'm not crazy, although I fear people might actually think that. No, I'm just an everyday guy who would rather fish than breathe, but hasn't been able to buy a boat yet. So, I would do anything to be able to spend a day here and there out on the water, and this would be a great chance for me to meet some people and also learn more about fishing down here, as its been almost 20 years since I consistently fished this area.

If I have some advance notice, I would be willing to meet you anywhere you want, at any time of the morning or day.

I'll be hoping to hear from someone. I've been fishing all my life, but the last few years, I've just started really getting into bass fishing, so maybe you could even pass on some of your knowledge to me, as well.

Im in the same boat
Im in the same boat (no pun intended). My problem is id waste your time cause i have no clue about saltwater fishing, although its my passion (go figure that out.)
good luck
No no.....I said I would love to try out saltwater fishing sometime.......but I am a freshwater fisherman at heart. I'm hoping to find someone who would like some company and a fishing partner when they head out bass fishing....or even panfish or catfishing.......pretty much any type of fishing. Hopefully I'll be able to get a boat by the end of this year. Then, maybe I can get back on here and return the favor and offer some people without a boat the chance to go out fishing with me, cuz I know how frustrating it is to love fishing but be so limited without a boat. Good luck!!
Weekdays Only
Jester, are you able to fish during the week?
I read it wrong
Jester, I'm sorry i read it wrong. I'm like i said in the same boat, just saltwater, and yes i can bust loose whenever :)
sure am.....main issue right now is that car is in the shop, so fiance and I are sharing a vehicle. I'd hate to have to ask anyone to come pick me up, unless they live really close by ( I live at Jefferson Hwy and Bluebonnet )

Yes work schedule allows me to work pretty much any day of the week except Thursday and sometimes Saturday.

Thursday Morning.
I normally fish Fourchon and Grand Isle this time of year, but that's not working out too well. May try the Causeway in the morning if the winds stay down. I'm not very familiar with this area but what the heck. Any one interested.
SURE!!! I would love to go!!!
Hey,I would LOVE to go if you have a spot. I MAY have a vehicle tomorrow, so I may be able to meet you somewhere, but I might not. Send me a private message with your e-mail/phone number and hopefully we can work something out. I would guess you are talking about saltwater. Do you fish for specks? Redfish? What type of rods/reels do you use? I may have to go get one tonight, as I have very little stuff for saltwater fishing. Man, this would be great. Thank you so much!!! Hope to hear from you soon!!

PS--If I make it to Cabelas or Bass Pro today, i there anything ( tackle, hooks, etc. ) that I oughta get or that you need?
Sent you an email.
Great. I haven't gotten your e-mail yet for some reason. Maybe its taking longer because its coming from this site.

This has actually worked out perfectly. I was somewhat worried because I kinda jumped the gun putting up this post asking if anyone wanted someone to fish with them because all of my fishing gear is up in Alexandria. So, I was trying to decide whether I should just go buy some more stuff ( way too expensive ) or if I should drive up to Alex tonight and get it. Well, it just so happens that my parents are driving to Florida today to spend a week down there and I caught them 5 minutes before they left and asked them to grab my rods and tackle box so I could meet them as they pass through Baton Rouge. Perfect!!!

Anyway, my fiance is picking me up in about 10 minutes so that I can go meet my parents and head over to Bass Pro. I was planning on calling you, but if I don't have your e-mail by then, I can't. So, if you don't hear from me by, say, 2:30 or 3:00, if you want to, just give me a call. My number is 318-419-2420.

Not sure where you are planning on going tomorrow, but there have been a few post on here about people tearing up the specks the last few days.

Oh, yeah, and I should be at Bass Pro when I call you, or if you call me, so if you need anything, just holler.

Thanks again!

Thank you!!!
I've got to send out a huge Thank you to Jrspro for taking me out to Lake Pontchartrain yesterday. I can't say that I tore them up, but he caught a number of nice keepers. I think I can really understand people who get hooked on saltwater, I hooked into 2 really nice fish that got off, but it was very exciting. I'm dying to get out there again already!

I really can't thank you enough, JrsPro. I had a great time and I hope I was helpful and decent enough company for you to consider dragging me along again.

Anyone else who wants to go out and get a hook wet but doesn't want to go alone or needs someone to help split expenses, drop me a line. I can usually arrange my work schedule so that I can fish when I like.

Hope to hear from you!

My email is but please do not e-mail through the link because for some reason I am not getting them.
Good Company
You are welcome any time Jester. I may go this week if the winds cooperate, I maay give you a call.
Yall Rock
thats what it's all about, yall seem to be a great bunch of guys on here, now who wants to teach me lol
This week would be great
I'd love to go this week. Any day would be good, but Tuesday or Wednesday probably best, but just give me a day or so notice and I'll try to figure my transportation situation out.

Also, I was looking online and there is a bait shop downtown that stays open late in the evening and opens at 4:30 in the morning. If you want, I'll go the night before or that morning and pick up some live( or not ) shrimp or anything else you think we might use. Never know, that may help us out a bit.

Are you planning to go back to the lake or were you going to head further down?

Hope to hear from you!

PS -- If you don't mind, send me an e-mail to from your e-mail, not through this website, so we can communicate online a litte bit easier.
This week.
Right now I have Wednesday off and both of you are welcome to join me. But don't start packing your gear just yet. That day off could go away at any moment.
As of right now, Wednesday is the perfect day for me this week. So, I'm game. Want me to go get more Baychovy or any other lures?

If things are looking good, drop me a line and give me a call tomorrow so I can hopefully work things out.

Planning on heading back to the Causeway or somewhere else?

Hope you had a nice weekend.
