New To Sportsman Network?

I'm new to the area and looking for some information on Miller's Lake. Is it open to the public for fishing? Is any permit/license needed other than LA Fishing License? Is it open 7 days week? What hours is it open for fishing? Is ther any horsepower or boat size limit on the lake? Can one…

So they say you can't catch big bass in Mandeville Well, check out what a 13 year old can catch with a spinning reel and a purple worm . This monster weighed in at 11 lbs 5 oz. and was caught by Cole Landry in a Mandeville neighborhood pond.
Beautiful fish, but its not 11 lbs.....

Made a trip to the pond in Zachary. My son and I boated 25-30 on baby Pop-Rs, swim baits and crank baits in 6 hrs of fishing. First fish my son caught was 7lbs and mine was 4.5 lbs. He missed one over 5 and a second that could have gone 8+. The fish are chasing schooling bait fish in the middle…

I have several unpopular questions to pose to the many fishing guides who use this site. Do you think that the almost daily pressure you impose on your local fishery is having a negative effect? Do you think that you can harm the fish population with just rod and reel? When you hear the wor…

Today I was fishing the Amite River, and a man who lives near it came up to me and told me that I was fishing on private property. It was clearly not private property. I don't have a boat, so i fish from the bank. It seems like there are less and less places for bank anglers like me to fish. …

Spank,
Correct me if I am wrong, but I think that all rivers are public waters and can't be posted. It is the property on the way to the river banks and the actual river banks that are/can be posted. Now come on and quit putting bs on the site, like that gator bs and the killer boat bs.

Petey Kern was back again with his crew on the big 26 Blue Wave Boats. Our first spot started out slower than it has been. Lots of smaller fish busting shrimp all around the boat, while the bigger specks were away from the shrimp. Once the bite played out, we made a move and found a good bite of…

Fished out of Bayou Pigeon landing Monday, had 6 keepers total. Had 2 keepers early in Cross Bayou/Murphy Lake on spinnerbaits. Several throw backs also on the hardwear. Moved to the Big Pigeon area(close to the lake), picked up 2 more keepers on worms(and a 15" sac). No lost of goggle-eye…

Fishdoctor,

Do you think my buddy and I could do some damage to the goggle-eye this weekend in Pigeon? I normally fish Henderson, but that area is somewhat poor lately. I would love to catch an ice chest full of big goggle-eye before duck season. Thanks in advance.

The wife wanted to take the kids crabbing Saturday so we loaded up and headed to Joseph Harbor. Good Lord, the people. Every possible spot was loaded with boats, people, and dogs. Not wanting to fight the crowds, I told her lets go try one of my redfish spots for a while and see if the crowds…

Took an afternoon trip on Monday then a morning trip on Tuesday. Caught tagged red fish both days. Water was murky and the bite was far and few but managed to get four reds and one drum. Most caught on the matrix shad and some on dead shrimp.

I heard someone say that they were fishing with someone and they would pull up to a spot, drop a wire in the water and if the salinity wasn't right they would roll to another spot. I guess they were testing the water till they found the perfect 'salinity' for trout and then Fish in that spot. Can…

I usually have always stuck to beaches and piers around the coast but have recently been moving more towards inshore bank fishing. Due to the lack of a boat I'm very limited where I can fish so the open beaches are always nice.

I've gotten petty good at catching from beaches and…

@Angler Management I am in a similar situation. As far as where to go... Robinson Canal(below Houma) is a good place to find drum. It is not an open beach, but shrimp/dead mullet on the bottom will net you a few drum. Try the Matrix Shad tipped with a little dead shrimp at PAC under a cork.
