My dad has a hobie kayak that he lets me borrow whenever I want, and I've decided I should get some more use out of it. I've…

It's been about almost two months since I went to the lake from Theriot Boat Launch. Last time I went the entrance to the lake was almost completely blocked by a small floating island and a mass of lilies. I barely made it through into the lake. I guess there is no maintenance by the parish…

Day 1 post front with a crew from Mississippi. The guys knew it was going to be tough fishing but just wanted to fish and have fun. Zero tide all day and high winds made it a challenge, but the guys pulled through with a mess of fish. Cracked crab and bait shrimp on the bottom accounted for all…

Tough conditions today for my Texas crew on their second day fishing with us. Winds were blowing 25 mph when we left the dock and got up to 30, it was brutal out there! We took deep to the marsh to try and hide as much as possible, but there was no hiding. My guys slowly put a mess together of…

I helped out Capt Anthony today with a group of guys from Illinois that’s working on the power lines. They worked over the bulls all morning long. Once they had enough of the drag pulling we switched modes to trout. The winds were up at this point so we didn’t hit them hard but caught enough…

Day 2 with the Loves from Kentucky. It was a little windier, but the fish didn’t seem to mind. We checked out a few areas that I typically like to fish later in fall. We didn’t find as many fish but they had some nice fish mixed in. We kept picking away and ended up with another nice box of…

Incredible morning with Tyler Picou and his dad. Started the morning smashing the specks on double rigged Matrix Shad. With 60 in the box I made a move to a reef and caught the last 15 quick and left them biting under Four Horsemen Tackle corks with any color Matrix lures you put on. Thanks guys…

I used to post my reports in the Bayou Coast Kayak Fishing Club forum. Now that BCKFC has basically abandoned its website and forum to cater only to social media (FakeBook), I will try to post here in Louisiana Sportsman in hopes of stirring up the interest of fellow kayak fishermen! For those…

Was not gonna bother with trying a Lake P trip, based upon predicted wind speed and direction and thought perhaps a T-Funky trip might be a decent plan B and had fairly low expectations once I saw flag at Bill Hood Chevy in Covington, looked like S winds were ripping at least 20 mph!!Got to…

Day 1 with Mike and Mike JR. from Kentucky. The guys drove in, to fish with me, on a 4 day adventure. They got some nice, quality sleep at the REEL INN Dularge and were primed up for the first day. These guys live to fish and wanted to get some huge bulls. We hit the trout first and then finished…

I had the Morales family onboard. These guys fish hard, so they were right at home slinging in speckled trout and yanking on bull reds. We hit various areas and made lots of stops and the guys loaded down the cooler with nice speckled trout and some nice whites. We made a few stops and they each…

I recently sold my old Kayak and went out to replace it looking for a great deal.

My budget was for below $500. I started online looking and found a Field & Stream 12' Eagle Run Kayak at Dick's for $474 that fit my needs.

I was looking for big capacity as I am 279 lbs and plan to carry…
