I just bought a kayak for fishing, looking for some good fishing spots to launch from on the Northshore. Just moved to the Pearl River area last year, so I've fished Cane Bayou once and today Bayou Lacombe off of Main Street. I'm not having any luck. I'm a little frustrated, bc I've not fished…

I used to post my reports in the Bayou Coast Kayak Fishing Club forum. Now that BCKFC has basically abandoned its website and forum to cater only to social media (FakeBook), I will try to post here in Louisiana Sportsman in hopes of stirring up the interest of fellow kayak fishermen! For those…

I'm hoping someone can give me some advice for getting on some fish on the northshore or even somewhere within decent driving distance of Mandeville.

My dad has a hobie kayak that he lets me borrow whenever I want, and I've decided I should get some more use out of it. I've…

I recently sold my old Kayak and went out to replace it looking for a great deal.

My budget was for below $500. I started online looking and found a Field & Stream 12' Eagle Run Kayak at Dick's for $474 that fit my needs.

I was looking for big capacity as I am 279 lbs and plan to carry…

I usually fish out of IDJC (island south of PAC) but am looking to scope out a new area and I have the Leeville area in mind. There is a kayak launch down there and it looks to have a lot of broken marsh options. I expect to get into some reds, but also hoping to get into some SPECs so my…

I am picking up a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox next week that DOES NOT have any factory installed roof runners, which is a bummer. I researched some “naked” roof rack options and found some on etrailer.com (Rhino-Rack) but lawd they are expensive (~$500). Does anyone have some more budget…

I was in Lacombe today in Bayou Des Mats. There are a lot of no trespassing signs in there. Does anyone know if this area is fishable? I'd like to be able to paddle thru to get to the bayou that leads to Lake Ponchartrain to the west.

Pointe Aux Chenes was pretty much wiped out from Hurricane Barry about a month ago. This is a quick recap of my first trip there since then. I was lucky to get on a few rat reds and see how well the area has recovered in just a short amount of time.
those were amazing experiences. thank you for sharing!

I lost a nice one and was ready to give up on a very windy, cold, slow and shallow water morning. I kept pushing on and was able to land a nice slot.

A co-worker of mine has been doing good on the reds around the black river outlet West of the lighthouse. He's using a black split tail grub on a lead head bouncing off the bottom back to the boat. Hope this helps and good luck. Lake P had been peaceful lately with this hot weather.

Heading out in the morning to launch out of the GI kayak launch. Planning to explore the rock jetties just north of the launch and then the marsh/island just North of it. This will be my first time fishing this area. I was thinking of launching out of sand dollar and heading to Isle Grand Terre…

Recap of a “Cajun Sleigh Ride”! This one lasted about 10 minutes. It was a nice red that I was able to sight cast to on a very foggy day. I initially thought it was a bit larger than it really was. It turns out that the lure went through its mouth and came out the gill. So it was…

A nice, quiet, and peaceful morning in Delacroix, La. is always a good thing. I was fortunate to hook up with a couple of green trout and reds on this brief trip.

A few highlights of a recent team tournament and the goal was the heaviest weight of 5 specks and 1 slot red. The heaviest weight of both team members would decide the winner. My partner got his 5 specks and 1 slot red. I pride myself in being able to find and catch reds but I am weak in the trout…
