2nd day at PAC. Nothing big today, mostly rats. Wound up catching 3 on a spoon and 3 on an in-line spinner with a H&H cocahoe. Here’s a few highlights.

Fished PAC for the past 2 days. On day one I missed 4 nice reds and while sight casting I ran into a school of 3 big ones. They didn’t want anything to do with a plastic lure. Throughout the trip I was able to land 3 nice reds.

Awesome video blackfishmatt! I’ve never fished from a yac before, looks like a blast. Great job videoing your solo trip.

I have a Perception Pescador Pro 10.0. I know 10 feet is less than ideal, but I'm a college student on a budget, and it was easier to store than a 12 ft. So, as the title says, I'm looking for some places that can be accessed with my yak safely. I'm mostly looking to target specks right…

Plan on launching at Attakapas Landing and fish the cypress trees around the landing.

Part 2 of 3 of an epic trip at Shell Beach.
Damn man you tore them up.

The trout are moving back in. Hooked over 30 but only 15 were keepers. Most of them were caught with vudu shrimp under a cork (aka vudencork). However, most of the larger trout were caught with a shadow rap. After the sun came up I went looking for reds but was only able to land 1…

Pointe Aux Chenes was pretty much wiped out from Hurricane Barry about a month ago. This is a quick recap of my first trip there since then. I was lucky to get on a few rat reds and see how well the area has recovered in just a short amount of time.

Part 3 of an epic trip to Shell Beach, LA.
Awesome day!

Would like to rent or try a kayak before buying one.
Any suggestions.

Here in Lafayette there is a company that setup demo days that you can try different types of kayaks out at lake Martin call Pack and Paddle, I know it is not in Baton Rouge But Not too far away and the people are very helpful and friendly.

The tarpon didn't want to play, but James Kellum managed to catch a couple spinner sharks while trolling off the beach in the kayak.

He did have a little moment when holding one next to the kayak and it went a bit crazy. lol

A quick recap of a lazy morning down da bayou looking for some marsh bass and a bonus rat red.
I made a trip to the Pensacola area over the weekend to do some kayak tarpon fishing off of the beach. Friday morning was dead calm with lots of activity. After quickly catching about a dozen Leatherjacks and a couple Thread-fin for live bait bait, we began trolling just outside of the second bar.…

Got into a fight with a big ole nasty.

I saw a break in the storms and made a quick trip down da road. I was able to get on a few rats and a couple of slots before the next band of storms appeared on the horizon.

I was lucky enough to have a steady bite and pull in a few rats. Missed just as many if not more. I started to get frustrated because I was missing so many hook ups so I decided to call it a day. After I finished this edit I noticed I had my hat on backwards during the whole trip. Maybe that's…

Scouting some new holes that I hope to use for rat reds in an upcoming tournament.

This is the 3rd and final trip of fishing some marsh around Delacroix this past week. Like the previous 2 trips, I was able to land a few rats. I was also able to land 2 nice slots and even miss a 3rd. An in-line spinner and an old school grub worm bass lure were the tickets.

This is the second day of a trip into Delacroix. Like the previous day, the expectation was more rat reds and that was correct. I was mostly using one of my smaller rigs since it helps to emphasize how tough these smaller fish can fight. I did…

Unfortunately, we don't have but a coupe of places close enough to reach tarpon in Louisiana, But they are as close as the panhandle area of Florida and even the Gulf Shores Alabama area off of the beaches. They are on their way now and will be along the beaches throughout the summer.
Made a trip to the marsh in Hopedale last week and found some nice reds and a bunch of small trout. Reds were along the grass lines and hammered the weedless gold spoon. Found schools of small trout around Lake Ameda, but most were undersize. Avocado sparkle beetle and chartreuse Gulp about 18'…

I've caught lots of big fish from the kayak, but a sailfish remains on my list. My friend Morgan Promnitz caught this one in Baja Mexico a while back. It was nice to be there to see and film it, but not quite the same as catching one yourself. One day...
