I made a trip to the Pensacola area over the weekend to do some kayak tarpon fishing off of the beach. Friday morning was dead calm with lots of activity. After quickly catching about a dozen Leatherjacks and a couple Thread-fin for live bait bait, we began trolling just outside of the second bar.…

Got into a fight with a big ole nasty.

I saw a break in the storms and made a quick trip down da road. I was able to get on a few rats and a couple of slots before the next band of storms appeared on the horizon.

I was lucky enough to have a steady bite and pull in a few rats. Missed just as many if not more. I started to get frustrated because I was missing so many hook ups so I decided to call it a day. After I finished this edit I noticed I had my hat on backwards during the whole trip. Maybe that's…

Been itching to head N up Bayou Lacombe(think I made wise choice based upon conversation I had with Bayou Lacombe regular)and launched yak around 6:10 am after making ice run on Hwy 59(some fool left box of trash at ice facility)and I saw half bag of ice plus someone left me a quarter in coin…

The wind was pretty tough to deal with but I was still lucky enough to land a few rats and a nice slot.

Scouting some new holes that I hope to use for rat reds in an upcoming tournament.

This is the 3rd and final trip of fishing some marsh around Delacroix this past week. Like the previous 2 trips, I was able to land a few rats. I was also able to land 2 nice slots and even miss a 3rd. An in-line spinner and an old school grub worm bass lure were the tickets.

This is the second day of a trip into Delacroix. Like the previous day, the expectation was more rat reds and that was correct. I was mostly using one of my smaller rigs since it helps to emphasize how tough these smaller fish can fight. I did…

Unfortunately, we don't have but a coupe of places close enough to reach tarpon in Louisiana, But they are as close as the panhandle area of Florida and even the Gulf Shores Alabama area off of the beaches. They are on their way now and will be along the beaches throughout the summer.
Made a trip to the marsh in Hopedale last week and found some nice reds and a bunch of small trout. Reds were along the grass lines and hammered the weedless gold spoon. Found schools of small trout around Lake Ameda, but most were undersize. Avocado sparkle beetle and chartreuse Gulp about 18'…

I was able to get on a lot of rat reds the other day. I was also lucky to land 1 nice slot. Also lost several on an in-line spinner. I think the hook was to big on that lure for the rats. Most of the hook ups came on an old school Johnson spoon and a vudencork.

Almost a Cajun slam... just couldn't find that legal trout. In hindsight- I really didn't look that hard for the trout.

I decided to try an area where I never see people fishing. I was shocked to discover that- yes... there are fish here!

I'm looking to launch my kayak or canoe next Monday, 11/19, I haven't been able to get much practice in the past year due to a newborn so I'm still basically new. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to try? I was thinking maybe near Reggio, or somewhere on the Northshore, as I live in…

Tides pretty flat that day. Try to find some locks, a narrow cut spot or even a pass that has moving water. I've found stagnate water equals stagnate fishing. Good Luck!!

A shout out to PAC Kayak Rentals for hosting Redfish Roundup this past weekend! I was able to pull in 5 fish: 1 undersize, 2 oversize, 1 keeper, and 1 non-species. Many nice stringers were weighed in but the usual heavy hitters stole the show. It was a great time and many thanks to Eddie and Lisa…

A nice, quiet, and peaceful morning in 'da' marsh. First cast and foul hooked a new PB for my smallest speckled trout!

Went looking for trout but couldn't catch a single one. I was still lucky to land him even though he and the surf beached my yak.

A few hook ups from a lazy Tuesday morning in 'da' marsh before the storms brewed up.

Do I need to fish the tressles north or south, or out of bayou Lacombe tomorrow? Supposedly light north winds, no rain. And anyone know where I can get some live shrimp? Thinking about using that tomorrow instead of plastics. Redfish, trout, drum, doesn’t matter, let me hook into something.…

Anyone know a good spot to launch a yak to fish the HWY 11 and I10 bridge? There looks to be a sandy area near where 11 and 10 meet and I could possibly launch there. Also, any fish reports from that area? Looking to go out Monday or Tuesday. Just one trout and one red out of Lacombe today
Lotta folks launch at the ole Tite's Launch near the base of the Trestles bridge,no doubt a yak could launch there, possibly closest launch to the Trestles. The grass beds outta Lacombe should have plenty of reds waiting a spinner bait!!

What is that in the beginning? Otters?
There was about 6 of them just popping up and saying high and then go under to only pop up again.
Anyway- post tropical storm Gordon trip. Literally fished for 17 minutes.
The trailing bands from the storm ran me off. But I was lucky to hook up early…
