What is that in the beginning? Otters?
There was about 6 of them just popping up and saying high and then go under to only pop up again.
Anyway- post tropical storm Gordon trip. Literally fished for 17 minutes.
The trailing bands from the storm ran me off. But I was lucky to hook up early…

Just read Todd Massons report about bank fishing at Seabrook. Never been to this place but would love to drag my kayak with me to work one day and do an evening recon mission to scratch off a Jack from my bucket list! Anyone have any information on where to go? Where to launch? I googled it…

It's not a secret!
'Seabrook public boat launch'
Stay away when there is a north wind.

Rigolets marina :

Headed out this morning amongst the threat of storms. But we heard about specks being caught so we went out and gave it our best.

Found a few small guys. Just one keeper made it into the box today.

Nonetheless, we are excited to see the trout returning!

FINALLY got out on my yak Saturday after having shoulder surgery almost 3 months ago. Stayed local and went to the Hwy 11 canal by the train trestles in Slidell. Weather called for calm winds and few clouds early, but they lied! Main lake was WAY to rough to venture out in the Ascend 12T! So I…

I noticed that boat launch right by the mouth of the canal. Is that a public launch?

A few highlights from a quick trip the other morning before the afternoon storms rolled in. Even though the water was dirty, I was still able to sight quite a few fish. Hooked several and spooked a lot more.

Headed down to PAC a few days ago. Little tidal movement but was able to still nab a few small trout and sightcast a few reds. Productive lures were Skitterwalks and Craw-style plastics (I was using Crackin Craw by Cajun Lures). After launching at Eddies, I headed north.

I started out my day looking for Jacks in Lake Pontchartrain. I had my big reel spooled with 60# braid and a live target popper. Not that I was expecting any trout, I also brought along my little trout rig spooled with 20# braid, a 12# mono leader and a mambo mullet.

After about 2 hours of…

Practiced a little bit with a top water this morning. Had several 'suck downs' but no real blow ups. Missed more than I caught- but a single top water strike is more exciting than catching several fish with a subsurface lure.

I just can’t stay away from PAC! Made another trip the other day and was able to get a few nice slot reds, a few rats, and even a couple of specks before the lighting and rain chased us off.

Took my son speck fishing this am in vermillion bay. We brought our yaks. He tore me up. He caught one that was 22inches long and another a couple inches shorter. He caught all the big ones by himself in his yak. We had a great time. One proud daddy! Most fish was caught on dead shrimp, a couple…

Hello! I am a Masters student at UNO and I am doing my research on manatees in Lake Pontchartrain. If you don't mind, please check out my research so that you or anyone you know can report a manatee that was seen within the last 5 years. I would really appreciate it. Thank…

I finally broke my jinx of catching nothing but rat reds lately. Still caught one rat (and lost a few) but then I realized the bigger ones were towards the middle of the pond. Sight casted 9 and was able to land 6 ranging from 22' to 26' with the largest one right at 27'. Here's 3 of them.

Very low and dirty water but I was able to get on a few rats and a pretty nice slot on a short trip before it got to hot.

Got on a few rats in PAC yesterday.

Got on a little rat red bite the other day with a fellow angler. We fished for about 4 hours and called it quits due to the normal afternoon lighting and rain squalls getting to close. We stopped twice due to the lighting and luckily we found shelter to stay away from it. We got a few hair…

Is that around PAC?

I made another quick trip back to PAC and hooked up several times but was only able to pull in 3. I had a few real good hits on a fluke but didn’t set the hook in time.

Hey Matt, where is PAC?

Has anyone had any luck with finding the specs yet? We had a real good day on them at grand isle over the weekend. Wondering if they are running around the shell beach area yet.
Went out Friday and only caught 6. Plenty Reds though! Northwest winds had the tide real low last week too. Will be out there again this Friday if weather permits. Usually been averaging about 20 to 30 trout per trip(2 people) this year.

Drizzly overcast day but I had to go fishing.

I didn't make it past my first stop. The bite was sporadic but it was there. Then I got bit.

1 rat, several misses, and a flesh wound.

That was fast. Nice, you were able to take a video of it. You'll recover soon.

Caught out of my ascend h12. Used June bug baby brush hog. Under manchac bridge. Throwing up against big stumps and submerged logs. Not a huge one but it was my personal best so far and I was very proud of my fish that day. Didn’t get to weigh it but I’d guess it was anywhere between…

Hi all,

I am new to this forum, and relatively new to kayak fishing in general. I have a very cheap entry level fishing kayak that is great for short trips but it is time to upgrade. There is just not enough room to get out there with the proper gear.

There are several boats that…

Ascend 128T is my personal favorite. You can easily rig a trolling motor on it. Not that a Hobie or Jackson aren't 'top of the line', but you can buy a trolling motor and many batteries for the price difference.

Took my buddy from work down to shell beach yesterday to try to get hooked into his first redfish ever, who is still new top yak fishing as well. It was game on from 730 to 930. We limited out by 830 and played catch and release for another hour plus. Live shrimp on the bottom, almost every…

A few more from the other day. After that 33' skinny bull almost broke off my smaller reel, I swapped over to a larger reel and caught 5 more. None of them were as long as the previous fish but they were fatter. Maybe I could have kept using the…
