Middle of the week teal hunt on the Pearl River WMA. 9/17/19

I am looking for a fairly good place to go bow hunting this year. I have had a bow for a while now and have been itching to kill a deer with it. If anyone knows of any public land they know has good deer activity or a place they would recommend, I'd appreciate the insight. Not looking to take…

You have a much better chance at tunica hills WMA than the two you listed. I hunt the south tract on the north trail. If you walk to the end of trail N1 and set up on the creek on October evenings you'll see some does. Good luck.

Opening day for dove is this Saturday. Some friends and I are planning to go to Sandy Hollow WMA (we also went last year). Has anyone had a chance to scout those fields or heard anything about the number of doves there?

With only one day left in tree rat season, decided to tag along older son's fine Ruger lever-action .22 mag rifle and got to Honey Island Swamp, favorite trail just about daybreak and within maybe ten minutes of slow and stealthy stalking, spotted fat tree rat, trouble was he was moving a tad too…

This had been a trip we have been planning since the month of September where we were informed by email that we won a lottery gun hunt on the Tensas NWR. The week started on Wednesday evening scouting and bow hunting up to the day of the lottery hunt. Taking a boat into the Tensas River was our…

Any advice on squirrel hunts for Tunica Hills WMA?
I am thinking on going to the south tract close to the river in hopes of finding some flatter land. I want to try to go somewhere where I will not be disturbing deer hunters as well.
Primitive weapon is in full swing now. Deer hunters are all over both tracts. Wear your orange.

Had very slight window of opportunity and seized it,hit favorite oak-filled slough in Honey Island and only emerged with two fat tree rats(ole trusty Beretta Extrema acting up-think hammer spring weak)and she would only give me two shooting opportunities and I got both tree rats I was able to get…

Can you hunt hogs with a bow on the Acadiana Conservation Corridor? Regs say deer hunting only but most WMAs allow hog hunting during other hunting seasons.

Anyone know the rules/regs related to putting a houseboat on the Biloxi Marsh WMA? Thanks

I would like to share some expectations of the Sandy Hollow dove Youth Hunt, not many reviews so here we go. Me and my son hunt nothing but WMA’s so he brought a friend and we started out at 5:30am, The hunt doesn’t start till 12 o’clock but we were prepared for the crowds. We got there…

The LDWF recently completed construction of a new wharf for the cul-de-sac on Big Island. This was sorely needed as the pre existing wharf was often full and guys had to park on the bank where they could, which is quite difficult when the water lilies move in.

Wanted to try a new approach this year and was curious if anyone else does it or if im crazy for even trying...I was thinking about stalk hunting deer and hogs on pearl river but i know pearl is thick and nasty as ive already been hunting there with a climber. Any spot and stalk guys out there?…

Quietly sneaking through the woods on public land sounds like a good way to catch a bullet. You'd better be wearing orange from head to toe and it's still a dangerous proposition.

Wanted to hit a few of my favorite Honey Island Swamp sloughs early this am but did not arise bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as our lovable chocolate lab,Molly, has severe anxiety with bad weather and bad weather hit us in Mandeville around 1:30 am or so and she was an absolute basket case and she…

Recorded my self hunting for shits and giggles but then decided to go home and edit it. Turned out not to bad. Had a great time that morning. Yall check it out. Quality starts off low in beginning of hunt due to the lighting but gets better. https://youtu.be/3wDA5oY-SG0
nice vid. I'm not even a duck hunter but I enjoyed it. Good job. Spillway? Pearl River?

Old info but still relevant - someone asked me the other day, 'was that story about the missing hunter on Joyce true?'

Yes, it was back in the mid 1980s if memory serves me correctly. I've hunted Joyce since 1976 when mallard limits were the order of the day, and wood ducks were…

I duck hunt Joyce in the LAA. It’s hard work. I have gotten stuck and had to walk pull my canoe out thick mud. You sink quickly. I can see how someone could get worn out and drone

I am a disabled veteran that lives in Baton Rouge. It has been years since I have been out in the woods, and want to find someplace relatively nearby that is available to hunt. I don't have a 4 wheeler or anything, so I will be walking it.

I am going to have to wait to try deer or hogs…

Both places have squirrels. Maurepaus has more squirrels, but the terrain is swamp that will require hip boots. You will also need a boat to get to most of this management area. Sherburne is accessible by car and is easy walking. There are squirrels, but they are harder to find and kill.

Hello all. I'm new to squirrel hunting and located in the southeast Louisiana area, between baton rouge and new orleans. I would like to take my little boy squirrel hunting along with me. I don't have access to a boat. Any recommendations on walk-in areas of WMAs or NWRs?

Feel free to PM…

I've been hunting for a few years now in pearl river and I finally got a boat which opens up opportunity for better hunting. I was hoping that someone could help me And direct me to a promising area/areas. I have found a few spots that have been great for hogs but not really and signs for deer.…

Not really sure if there is an 'area for deer'. I've seen them miles from the road and I've seen them on the road. Got to spend time in the woods. I hunt the Pearl also and I see plenty of sign and had a few blow at me this past season. Just got to be in there

Well a little late on this one but my son finally got his 1st squirrel this past season. Thankfully the little thing was 1/2 blind and deaf or he would have not got it lol. But it makes for one proud papa to hear and see him get so excited about it and he is hooked now.

Surf...it was a win-win thing...seen it before w/innocent animals drinking out of chemical ditches...maybe his generation can change things...(we use to love the type of terrain you hunting in)...cheers
