The weather out in Venice, LA has been inconsistent, but the fishing is still great on our days out when the weather is in our favor.

Our Red Snapper bite is on fire. The bigger snapper are mostly caught on live Menhadden and Herring. Sometimes they will come off of dead bait as well.…

How far are the rigs that hold red snapper out of grand isle? What depth is the water? I have a 24’ Express bay and the closest rigs where I live are 60 miles out.
Go Southwest at least 20 miles and you should be good

I inherited the father-in-law's fishing gear when he passed away. I'm keeping the old Mitchell 300 reels and inshore items. He has 4 offshore setups. the rods are worthless due to the guides unwrapping or broken. The reels are:
Daiwa 450H
Penn Leveline 350
Penn Senator 6/0…

Anybody have a clue when the season will open and what the limits and time frame we are looking at this year? We nailed a few 36 inch snapper last weekend and had to release them. They sure would have made some pretty blackened fillets. Thank you all in advance!!! signed : Capt. Motorhead

We'll be at Grand Isle in a couple of weeks. Where should we be throwing the cast net for bait (I know, in the water!) Back side of the island, going out the pass? Thanks for any advice.
If you are looking for minnows, before you get on The leeville bridge, throw your cast net in any other the little canals of water next to the light posts on the right hand side of the road. Usually full of minnows. Good luck!

Went after Cobia yesterday with a fishing buddy, we left out of Cocodrie. Following advice from an article in LA. Sportsman, we stopped at a platform just outside of Cat Island Pass and used bait shrimp to catch hard heads and kept them alive in the live well for Cobia bait. We stopped at several…

Anyone know a good place to find tuna out of Venice? Going this weekend looking.

Anyone notice the Cobia starting to pile up at the rigs in South Tim and Ship shoal platforms? Thinking about going for Labor Day weekend. Thanks
I talked to Capt. Tommy Pellegrin and he said he has heard reports that the cobia have shown up at the satellite rigs there -- He also said the trout bite in Terrebonne Bay has exploded the past 2 weeks which is very unusual for this time of year. Hope this helps.

After a little lull tuna bite is getting better for us. Fishing hard and grinding is getting the job done. We have Aug 18 open. Amberjack season will open in August and that?s a guaranteed way to get some white meat after catching tuna. Give us a call Captain Dylan ?(225) 287-5821?
Man that's nice to hear! Are they still pretty far out? Last I heard was 60 to 80 miles.

Each year I take the family to Grand Isle for a few days of fishing but this year we’re taking the skiff at the end of August does anyone know if the Kingfish are ever caught on the rigs close to shore?
