Are there any public lands, not WMAs, that you can go and bow hunt pigs?
here we go, i hunted Wma's for many years, killed more hogs on wma's than any where else. so to answer your question if you don't want wma's but want public then there is only federal land, like kitchasie national forest land, way less piggies.

I JUST BOUGHT THE CVA ELITE STALKER IN THE .35 WHELEN. THIS GUN WILL NOT GROUP THE HORNADY 200 GRAIN SUPERFORMANCE ROUNDS AT ALL. I HAVE SECURED ALL SCREWS FOR BASES AND SCOPE MOUNTS WITH LOCKTITE AND STILL THE GUN WILL NOT GROUP THE HORNADY ROUNDS. IF ANYONE ELSE HAS THIS GUN, ANY SUGGESTIONS ON…

is ur scope a buckmaster pro-staff? I had same problem with a 444 and come to find out the prostaff is a 2 piece design scope and it couldnt handle recoil. I changed to a buckmaster scope and problem solved, never changed bullets. I also shoot hornady

Despite all the negative duck reports this year, I decided to make a hunt anyway. I would like somebody to identify these black ducks. The lake was full of them. I passed up on pintails, mallards, and canvasbacks to shoot these tasty black ducks. I probably could have killed 92 mallards but these…

Has anyone had any experiences with Wildwings Kennels on the Westbank? Someone recommended him to my girlfriend for our young pup and I would like to get some feedback whether it be positive or negative. She talked with him today and he seemed to be a pretty straight up guy. His price is a little…

The Infamous Jerald Horst

In January of this year, LSM wrote an article about a man named Jerald Horst. To sum it up, this man basically duck hunted the Wax Lake Outlet all season long and told of the methods he used to intercept rafting ducks. Little did anyone know what Jerald Horst would…

Sure is a lot of unruly behavior going on at the Wax. I think I hear more negative remarks coming from the Wax than positive ones.

My name is Adam and I'm tired of borrowing rifles for deer season. I am considering the 35 Whelen cartridge but would like a few opinions on the make/model to go with. I'm leaning toward the CVA apex but what do yall think? I plan on hunting this rifle all season not just for primitive. Shots…

Has anyone tried it? If so what kinda luck did you have? I have seen them out for a few seasons now, but have been kinda learie of them, plus I've not had the 'best experiences' with Wild Game Innovations products....Thanks
I would not recommend buying one. Mine broke within the first week.

did a test on deer head with 17 great results.
Yeah they are a monster for shooting rabbits, coons, and squirrells. It is illegal to hunt deer with a rimfire rifle.

Alright. I have nothing against Browning or any other gun Mfg. But i have a buddy who has this Beretta Extrema 2 and it is awesome. He has it without the kick off system and for an additional $400 i can deal with out it. My wife is getting me one for a gift and i was just wondering if anyone…

Check it out guys.

This is a new DVD from Bayou Bucks that features Louisiana ONLY hunting.

From the site:

Does anyone know where around the Baton Rouge area I can buy a net for frogging?

We normally use our hands but occasionally a frog will be in an area where we cannot reach it. I do not like to use a gig and we have tried one of those spring-activated grabbers such as the ones at Academy Sports…

Any old veteran Duck hunters got any tips for identifying Do Gris vs. ring necks when in flight. I had close call last season, miss id'd a scaup for a ring neck, thankfully I wasnt over the limit of 2 do gris. It was a passing shot and damned if it didnt look the exact same as a ring neck to me.…

Ahh well i think a dosgris has a lil more white on the wing that a ringneck. Its just hard to tell there is no easy way around it really. Just remember dosgris are brackish water ducks and ringnecks are freshwater. So you almost never find ringnecks in salt marshes.

While I sit at work, bored out of my mind, I figured I would begin to solve the worlds problems. Lets begin with the reject of the waterfowl community, the pooldo (yes, its probably misspelled). How do pooldo migrate south for the winter. If any of you have seen these birds fly, you probably…

Before you disrespect the pouldeau, you better try them. What! I can just taste the pouldeau and oyster gumbo already. If you don't want them, let them go. I will be there to get them. Running them up...ughhhh.....I mean calling them in. Ha ha ha.

Been looking for a feeder for rice bran. the only one I found is sold at cabelas. It is called the powder keg feeder. Does anyone have this feeder or know anyone one that has used this feeder. If so does it work? Thanks
The problem with rice bran feeders is ANY moisture will cause the feed to cake up, thus causing the feed to clog up. We had a guy buy one of those feeders with the auger type spinner. This didn't work because of the moisture that clogged up the feeder opening.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Hogzilla is being made into a horror movie. But the sequel may be even bigger: Meet Monster Pig. An 11-year-old Alabama boy used a pistol to kill a wild hog his father says weighed a staggering 1,051 pounds and measured 9-feet-4 from the tip of its snout to the base of its tail.…

I've asked this already but I wasn't very specific. Does anyone know how much a 100 grain core-lock bullet would drop at 300yards if my .243 is 1inch high at 100 yards.
I am not loking at the chart because I am offshore, but if I remeber correctly when I had my .243 it was approximately 2".

Can anyone tell me the pro's-cons of a 35 Whelen vs a 45-70 on an Encore-they are legal in MS during muzzle loader season, and was wondering which is better all around. Distance, knock down, accuracy, bullet drop, etc. Any experience is welcome.
No experience with an Encore, 35 Whelen or 45-70, but I can vouch for the Knight KP1 in 444. Half inch group at 100 yards. Deadly on deer. Guess that didn't help much did it.

Should I give them another year or take them out?

(please excuse wrong dates)

These are just 1 1/2 year old bucks, give them more nutrition from january to september next year via summer plots and supplemental feed and they will put on some bone. Good looking young bucks.

Can someone tell me the pros and cons of a 26 inch barrel and a 28 inch barrel. Thinking of getting a new shotgun and cant decide which length barrel to get. thanks craig
Well I really dont think it matters, it might help if you are have a kid and need a shorter barrel. What really matters is the choke and not the barrel length.
