I just completed my first of two spring turkey hunting trips to Texas this past weekend just east of San Antonio in Guadalupe County which is a 4 gobbler tag county.
I arrived in the afternoon on Thursday and the weather was perfect. 70 degrees, sunny and very light breeze. I headed out to a…

Great story Chris, I enjoyed a quick afternoon turkey hunt Thursday also. I was in Sonora out scouting for the afternoon and made a few calls and had this big 3 year old run in. The weather change stopped our turkey opportunities Saturday also. We did get a few hogs to add to our trip.

Only 5 weeks away and getting ready for what I hope to be a very good turkey season. The winter storm last week destroyed a lot of my woods. The ice storm dropped trees down all over the place and we are spending time just clearing roads and making sure everything is ok. I hope the wildlife came…

I love to hunt turkeys, but I am new to the area. I have been doing some hog hunting in the Pearl River WMA and am learning the area farely well. Are there any turkeys in there, and if so where would the highest concentration be? Thanks in advance for your info!
Turkey season is closed in Pearl River WMA again this year! This will be 3 years in a row with no turkey hunting.

Glad to finally see some turkey poults running around. Not as many as I would like to see but better then last year. I have two hens showing up regularly one has two poults and the other has three. I continue to believe the biggest problem with the turkey population is the predators which I try my…

Bayoubow, Clear Creek WMA has a good turkey population and I have had a lot of fun on that place. It does get hunted hard but you can find gobblers all over that area. We have camped out and enjoyed our hunting there in past years. Walk the logging roads looking for sign and listening. Good luck!

Made a turkey hunt last week to Caldwell county Texas which is near San Antonio. I normally make this trip for the opener, which is April 1st, but work had me bowed up and had to push this trip back to this past weekend. Turkeys were not very active and never heard a gobbler on the roost. Riding…

Turkey season so far has been fun, I have worked several gobblers and called in several hens over the first week of the season. On Sunday 4/11 I was able to close the deal on a nice gobbler. At daybreak I waited for the birds to wake up and start singing. I did not hear a gobbler, so I eased down…

Good luck!! Keep us posted on how it goes. I'm interested to hear if things are any better over there. You're right, it used to be full of turkeys but has been awful the past few years.

I’ve been spending the last few weeks in the woods getting ready for Turkey season and checking on the deer herd. Bucks have started dropping their antlers the last few weeks. I am also hitting the racoon population hard to try and help the turkeys nesting within the next month or so.…

That sounds like an amazing hunt. Were you guys hunting on private land? Or was this an outfitter you were hunting with? I got to make a Texas hunt years ago and was amazed at the number of birds. I have been itching to get back to Texas to hunt them again.
