Nice day for a duck hunt compared to today. Water was high enough for us to get where we needed to get as we have been watching where the ducks want to be. This time of year it's not what you think ought to happen rather scouting where the ducks are and going…

Any old veteran Duck hunters got any tips for identifying Do Gris vs. ring necks when in flight. I had close call last season, miss id'd a scaup for a ring neck, thankfully I wasnt over the limit of 2 do gris. It was a passing shot and damned if it didnt look the exact same as a ring neck to me.…

Ahh well i think a dosgris has a lil more white on the wing that a ringneck. Its just hard to tell there is no easy way around it really. Just remember dosgris are brackish water ducks and ringnecks are freshwater. So you almost never find ringnecks in salt marshes.

By everyone's accounts, this has been yet another in a series of bummer duck seasons BUT when one gets tossed bunch of lemons, why not squeeze dem lemons extra-hard and MAKE lemon daquiris!!!Decided to head to Honey Island Swamp for what promised to be much-needed change of pace and got to where…

The only chance I’ve had to pick up a gun this year was to pepper a beaver behind the house the other night. I do need to get out in the woods and change up my scenery!

While I sit at work, bored out of my mind, I figured I would begin to solve the worlds problems. Lets begin with the reject of the waterfowl community, the pooldo (yes, its probably misspelled). How do pooldo migrate south for the winter. If any of you have seen these birds fly, you probably…

Before you disrespect the pouldeau, you better try them. What! I can just taste the pouldeau and oyster gumbo already. If you don't want them, let them go. I will be there to get them. Running them up...ughhhh.....I mean calling them in. Ha ha ha.

I would like to get some feedback on surface drive motors being that they have been around for a few seasons now. I find it puzzling how you see a good bit come up for sale and most are fairly new. Are poeple buying them, not liking em and selling? We have been running go-devils for ever now…

Weather conditions were ideal for our duck hunt Friday after Thanksgiving. North wind about 15 steady with overcast skies, perfect. We had good amounts of teal and big ducks on the move right from the beginning of the hunt. We had been doing well in this spot so we had all of us in one blind…

Last week, i harvested a unique bird that I have never seen before. I knew it was likely a teal of some kind due to its size. At first I thought it was a Baikal Teal from I believe Russia, but further research indicated that it is likely a blue wing/green wing teal. The white and brown patches on…

I have stated many times the duck game is location, location, location. Over the last several years the ducks don’t seem to want to be in an area we had success for many years. The habitat has changed and we were able to lease new property in an area the ducks, teal for the most part want to…

Was fishing Flat Lake off the Diversion Canal yesterday and saw 2 different flocks of BWT along the bank just loafing/preening. Wondering if I could set up a boat blind in the lily pads and be legal? Back in the 80’s there were permanent blinds built on the lake, back when we had mallards and…

I tore my Achilles tendon and had some seat time to put together our best shots from 2015 to 2020 during the September special teal season in southeast Louisiana. I hope this gets the juices flowing getting everyone ready for September 11. We will be ready to go, walking boot on the leg and all.
