We fished yesterday, June 4th, and today, June 5th, out of Cypremort Point in the Vermillion Block. The Lemonfish bite is finally turning on in fairly shallow water. I fished on my buddy's 36-foot Invincible, and I'm very happy I did both days. The first day we landed our solid limit of snapper, all being over 13 pounds. After our snapper, we started looking around for lemonfish. After boating three decent ling in the 35 pound range, I hooked up to something on my plain jig 50 feet below the surface. A couple minutes passed, and we were looking at what we thought was a massive 80 pounder. Twenty-five minutes later we had him gaffed and in the box. We brought him to be officially weighed at Dago's Gas Station in Lydia, and it turned out to be 101.3 pounds, the Louisiana's 6th place ling. Today June 5th was a similar story. After catching our snapper, we started looking for lemonfish again, and hooked up to another shligggg fish. Again, after about 20 minutes, we had him in the boat. He weighed 85 pounds on the dot. Two fish of a lifetime caught on back to back days. Looking forward to more days like this on the water.

I killed this squirrel at my camp in the basin and was wondering if it is a cross between a fox and grey squirrel. The belly is orange like a fox squirrel, but it has the tail and size of a grey squirrel. Any help? Thanks!

I killed this nice 8 point on the first morning of my trip to illinois. I shot him at 8:30 and passed on a 135 inch 8 point twice before i killed this 155 inch buck at 40 yards with my bow. He had a split G2, which made him a 9 point.

The squirrel hunting is awesome. There are tons of fox squirrels and black squirrels. My buddy killed 4 black squirrels on his first hunt and 3 on his second and most of our limits consist of fox and black squirrels.

just so you know. if that is really in illinois, it is illegal to feed wild deer at any time of the year unless plant agriculture fields and they eat that. Not trying to be an ass just trying to help you.

A comment titled: lots of outlaws in response to a report titled: Deer Hunting in Turkey Creek/Glenmora area

I hunt on a small piece of family land in the area and i have not killed a deer yet. Last year i started baiting early and had pictures of 1 deer. it was a doe but coming everyday during daylight hours. I got out there on the friday that bow season opened so i could try to kill it before the squirrel hunters started shooting up the woods cause everyone around there squirrel hunts. Well i was sitting in my stand and i heard something behind me so i looked and it was a guy squirrel hunting in my woods with a pellet gun(squirrel season didnt open until the next day). Right about the time i saw him behind me, the deer i had been waiting for ran out from in front of me cause it was spooked. I hunted the rest of the season and didnt see another deer. The area is nice but you just have to monitor your property and be out there as much as possible cause many people think that it belongs to them. I hope this helps you

I have gone with GTW in illinois for 2 years no and love it. The first year I didnt kill one, but passed on some nice 130s cause I was looking for something better. This year, I killed a 155 inch 8 point with a split G2 on the first day of the hunt after passing a 130 inch 8 point. I killed him at 40 yards with my bow. Also if you are looking to go gun hunting it is great too. I went this year during the late 3 day season, but didnt kill anything. I once again passed on a few nice deer, because i saw a 170 inch 10 or 12 point on the second day out of range. The lodge is very nice and the guides are very knowledgeable about their farms. If you have any other questions just email me. The website is
