Looking to get a baitcasting reel. Haven't used one in a while and from the internet searches the field has expanded since I last used one. So looking for advice on the best baitcasting reel out there. Willing to spend up to $250

Here are some pics from the Fishing trip on 1-08-11. If you haven't been to Sweet Water Marina, you NEED TO GO! Get those kids on the water and have some fun!

January 09, 2011 at 11:22am

If you haven't launched at Sweet Water Marina and met Capt Jack and his Crew you are missing out!. Had the boat full today, (Wife, Son and Nephew ). We put 20 red fish on ice in 30 minutes. We let the kids do some catch and release for a while before we headed it. Martha, Cody, and Taylor did an awsome job managing those hard pulling reds. Huge thanks to Capt Jack, he put us right on top of the fish this evening!

Fished Dularge on Thursday and Friday looking for Trout, Skunked both days. Been fishing down there every day this week. The Trout bite was not there at all. Fishing 2 more days, not sure where, then back to work.

Cody, Bruce, Poncho, and Charles were at it again. We got the itch and headed down south for a little Red fishing. Me and Cody did our home work the day before so we all but had a good day of fishing packaged up. We managed 4 limits of Red fish and 8 Trout. Great day on the water!

Took Cody out for a Cold day of fishing. We managed our limit of Reds. Fun day on the water fishing with the 'Little Man'!

Ton's of red fish action down in Myrtle Groove yesterday. Myself, my 2 brother in-laws( Poncho & Bruce ), and my son ( Cody ) fished until noon, we had at least 125 red fish hit the boat. We kept our 20 fish limit and enjoyed some good rod bending action

Fished Point La Hatch on Tuesday, 1 Red. Fished from Black Bay back to Point La Hatch today, nothing. Not Looking good at all!. Only great news I have is that I launched at Sweet Water marina in Delacroix for the 1st time on Tuesday, I have to say, those are the most courteous, professional people I have met. I was fishing alone the last 2 days. Frank helped me launch the boat, he parked the truck, outstanding service all around. I will definitely be back! Just hope the fish are biting, only on vacation for 4 more days:(

Took a good friend of mine down south for a little fishing. Had to hunt a bit, but ended up up limits of Specs and Reds. Perfect day!

I had to do some editing of the photos. Bayou Lacomb bass. Cody twice this year, has put 4+ lb fish in the boat. Little man is hooked!

October 24, 2010 at 2:11pm

My son wanted to go catch a few before the Saints game. Hit Bayou Lacomb, we had to work for them, but managed to put together a nice stringer. My son old landed 2 nice ones, 3 1/2 and 4 1/2.

Good day of fishing with my 6 yr old son Cody. He caught his 1st bass today, then he caught his 2nd thru 5th. Made his old man proud. Wound up with the biggest fish of the day right at 4 1/2 lbs.

A comment titled: Where the Red Fish are in response to a report titled: Baldwin Clan at it Again

Head south down the Bayou on the South end of DeCade ( Keep going past the Camp's ) on your right a few miles down you will see a main canal with rocks. ( There are 2 spots )Fish by the blue bucket ( you will see it) and make the bend around the turn and fish about 40 yards on the back side of the bend against the rocks. There is a super strong current, so anchor and throw dead shrimp under 4ft of cork and let it drift. We hit em both days limits, reds are running about 18in.

I fished Dularge for the first time today with my Son. We limited out on Reds today ( Just barely! ), caught 10 + 1throwback. Mainly went today to find the boat launch and run the water. Any advice on the Trout fishing. I ran the bayou across DeCade and continued down south a ways. I have a GPS in the boat but did not know if I should continue further South or am I spinning my wheels. Any help would be appreciated.

Dont get me wrong, fishing the Lake is fun. I do it to pass the time and when the fish are biting, it is great. But if you want to have more productive trips, go down South! Brenton Sound Marina / Sweet Water Marina, not that far and you will improve your chances 200%

A comment titled: Skeeter bay boat problems in response to a report titled: Skeeter ZX22 Bay Boat

I had the 24 ft model as well, the only problem I has was all the hard ware sucked. Ie; door latches / gaskets ect. Many other models used a better design than Skeeter, within 3 months most of the latches on the boat did not work. Nautic Star has a much better design and quality in my opinion.

Get a GPS. Launch at Brenton Sound Marina, don't forget to buy your liveshrimp. Head to lake robin and have fun. Look for the birds, typically a sure thing. Drifting in the bay will put together a nice box.
