I recently bought a Suzuki 70 four stroke and was wondering what the compression should be above on a used motor!
Thanks

I have a Kenner 2103 and am wondering how hard it is to get to the fuel tank to change out the fuel gauge sending unit. Has anyone done this before?
Thanks

On opening day of Area 2, I sat in my stand for about 4 hours that morning seeing nothing. That afternoon about 2pm, I crawled back in my stand with a light north wind blowing. This stand sits on a new clear cut, so I wasn't watching too much to the south of me due to the lack of trees. About 4:30pm I heard a deer grunt a couple of times and I grunted back, but after about 30 minutes of waiting I didn't see anything. About 6pm I happen to look back at the clear cut to the south of me and there he stood, an 8 point buck. I sat as still as I could, my heart feeling like it was going to explode in my chest. He finally moved enough where he was behind some scrub trees that was left after the cutting. I slipped my rifle through the window and was ready for him to step out the scrub brush. He took about 3 steps out into my lane, I put the crosshairs on his shoulder and sent 180 grains of hot lead through his lungs. I put my rifle down in the corner of the stand and sat there for a few minutes to catch my composure. With light fading, I got down to find my buck. I was disgusted to find very little blood but I didn't give up. After about 300 yards or so it seemed with crawling through the thicket across the creek from my stand, I found my buck. I then text my wife and told her to make room on the wall, because I had just killed a big one. I then started dragging this beast out, but realized I couldn't do it alone. I had a guy text me to ask if I was hunting and he sent help for me when I told him about my deer.
The deer is an 8 point and weighed about 200 lbs. It is my best to date and hopefully it will be a start to more quality bucks on the wall in my home.

My dad has 20 plus pine trees that he is wanting removed from his property. The only cost is an affidavit clearing him of any injuries that may happen on the property while cutting the trees. If you or someone you know is looking send them my way.
Trees are located south of Jennings, La.

I have a friend coming in from Georgia next weekend that wants to catch some reds. Can anyone point me in a general direction to where we might be able to catch a few. Looking around Calcasieu Lake, Mermantau River or Rockafella.

Just an FYI for those of you that used to launch out of Talens Landing south of Lake Arthur. The launch is now closed, the company that owned Talens has sold them to Martin Energy Services and said the launch is too much of a liability to keep open. Now instead of a 20 minute boat ride to my camp, I will have an hour boat ride.

Found this interesting. The average total of civilian firearms in the U.S. is 270 million with an average of 88.8 people owning a firearm out of every 100 people.

Does anyone know if the Bayou Runner boat are still being made and if so where is a dealer? My uncle is looking for one to use for crabbing and alligator hunting.

I am looking for a place to lease for about 4 months to leave my camper during deer season. If any one can give me some leads in the Jena/Olla area, it would be greatly appreciated.

When I came online, I was reading the post and went to comment. I made the comment and when the page came back up, it had me logged as shanejoesph. Now this is on my personal computer that no one else uses, so how did this happen? When I realized it, I deleted the post and logged onto my user name.

I have a 90 hp Mercury Optimax that the high temp alarm goes off about 1/2 throttle, but clears above that. I have changed the water pump at least 3 times, (merc mechanic & me) and it continues to give an alarm. When hooked to the computer it is the high temp that shows up. I disconnected the sensors, one at a time to try to eliminate a sensor being bad. With the sensor disconnected the motor would not open up. Can someone give me an idea of what would cause the alarm to activate and not allow the motor to open up?
All this started after the ignition wiring harness shorted out and melted.

Guys & gals, before adventuring out on the water for hunting please make sure you are capable of handling the conditions of the waters you are traveling. Also have knowledge of your location.
I don't know all the details but I was approached by a tug boat captain that I have known all my life asking where I was headed, this was about 2:30pm. I informed him I was going make my afternoon run for my wells. He then told me that a man didn't show up at the camp near ours and that he had left home around 7 am. I ran the area from the landing to the camp location and then came in along the down wind side of the lake hoping to see him and his boat along the bank. After making that run, I stopped at the dock and told the tug captain that I had not seen any sign of him or the boat. The man's step father came in from offshore and had the pilot scour the lakes and marsh to no avail, along with several boats from the camps.
I sent a text at about 6pm to a man that is out at the camp to get an update and got a grim message, 'haven't found him yet'. About 30 minutes later he called me to tell me that the Coast Guard had found him in an area that was passed a few times with boats. He told me the fellow was doing good, don't know anything else.
Sure was glad to get the call that he was found in good health.
I forgot to add that he was having motor trouble when he left the camp to go in yesterday evening. Make sure the equipment (boat, motor, etc) are up for the job.

Has anyone been having accessing the site? I have been having trouble about every other day where I am unable to get to the Reports or classifieds.

I would think that you can use any legal means, which decoys are legal elsewhere. Your question would probably be best answered by calling the LDWF office nearest you or Baton Rouge.

Like Loraine66 said, the lifetime doesn't cover your recreational gear licenses. The lifetime license covers big game, basic hunting, turkey, archery, primitive weapons, WMA, state duck stamp, fresh H2O & salt water fishing.

I am a non smoker/tobacco user. I am against any and all taxes. I have about 30% of my check goes towards taxes to be able to live in this 'FREE' country. I have to pay taxes on my vehicle, that is paid for, every few years, my land and home every year and on other things I have, that taxes were paid on when I purchased the item.

I bought a $0.99 screwdriver, heated the tip and bent it at about the 3/4' mark. I have had the same now going on about 20 years. I drilled through the handle, cut an old trawl float and tied it through the handle. I won't unhook a catfish off a trotline without it.

If you can get the Range, Township and Section number of the canal, you can go to the parish courthouse and find out if the canal is private or public. There is a lake near me that was claimed as private by the surrounding land owner, so I got all the information above and called the courthouse and it was indeed private even though the Old Intercoastal flows through it and we commercially fished it for years without any issues from the previous land manger of the property owner. Wildlife and Sheriff will not have the correct info, so you will need to go the courthouse for the answer.

I am on my second pair in about 5 years. The first pair I bought broke and I sent them back for repair but they were a discontinued model so I had my choice of a pair comparable in price for shipping cost. The second pair I recently sent back for the arms to be repaired. The arms were warranty repair and they changed the lenses due to small scratches, cost was around $12. Definitely worth the money.

Shad works just as well for garfish as mullet do.

Jug lines are in the same category as trot lines, limb lines, etc which fall under 'set line' in the pamphlet. You are allowed 100 catfish of the 3 species in aggregate. You will be able to fish them under your basic freshwater license unless south of the saltwater line, then you will need to the saltwater fishing license. If you plan on selling fish, then you will need all appropriate commercial licenses.

I hope you have better luck getting LDWF agents to help you. We have trouble with people on our end stealing crabs and crab cages from us and the agents get ugly with us when we ask for help.

Call a dealership and ask them. They should be able to provide the best info on mounting the motor.

I know of a camp that switched from diesel generators to propane. This camp is a commercial hunting operation and the owner was told that 1000 gallons of propane would last 4-6 weeks on the setup they have, running a 50KW generator. They have been running through 1000 gallons of propane about every 10 days. That same generator on a diesel engine was burning less than 1000 gallons in a month.

You will need a commercial fisherman's license plus what ever gear license you are using to catch the fish with. (hoop net, set line (ex. trot line, jug line, limb line, etc) gill net, and so on. Also if you are fishing in the saltwater area of the state, you will need a vessel license for each boat you use to run your gear. If you sell to a market you will be covered under these licenses. If you plan to sell to individuals, you will also need a FRESH PRODUCTS license and will have to fill out trip tickets each day for the fish you sell and at the end of the month, you will have to send this in to the LDWF.
Warren
Hope you have success there. I haven't really fished it much since Rita, the sac a lait haven't made a rebound or if they have, I haven't been able to get on them.

Coming from Lake Charles, take Hwy 14 towards Holmwood. At Holmwood you will turn left, which is Hwy 14 and continue on 14 through Bell City and Hayes. After you get out of Hayes, you go about 2-3 miles to Illinois Plant Road, on the right in a curve. When you go down Illinois Plant Road, you will come to a stop sign continue straight. Make sure to obey the speed limit and stop sign, opening day of Lacassine usually has a deputy patrolling the road hard. Once you go through the gate at the pool entrance, go to the stop sign, turn left and you will go until the road turns back to the right. From that right turn to the end of the road is the area that you can only fish with non motorized boat or boats with trolling motors. This area is on the left side of the road once you make the right hand turn.
Warren
Yes, you will need the commercial fishing and crawfish license unless you are in a rice field.
You can get the licenses at the main office in Baton Rouge and maybe the office in New Orleans.
You can find all the regulations here: http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/
Warren
To sell catfish in Louisiana you need a commercial fisherman's license and a gear license for what you use to catch them with (trot line, hoop net, gill net, etc.). If you sell to the general public you will also need a fresh product license.

I know for a fact that last year the price was $80 and this year was supposed to be better. Year before the otter hide brought in $100-$125 depending on when they were sold. Otters, fox and bobcat were the top price hides.
Warren
I don't know where your son was selling, but I was told my uncle sold his otters for $100 each.
