Seems to me you folks sniveling about not getting hogs on the WLA near to your homes, need to save up a couple of bucks by staying home for a couple of weekends and then go where your chances are some better !! I don't have any close to my home that carry big amounts of game! so I save a little of my retirement money all year so I CAN go where theres a better chance to get some game !!Heck when we lived in Cali we had to travel over 500 miles to hunt deer !! So I sure don't mind going an hour or two down here in Louisiana to get to fine hunting where I can get 3 or 4 deer and as many hogs as I can see and hit !! Just my 2 cents

Gee, maybe the poor landowner finely has a chance to have a little help in paying his tax's !! seem's like folks who don't own anything always get mad when land owners refuse to let them use there land for nothing !! maybe some day they will own something and understand what it's like to pay tax's on land that has little or no value except for hunting !!!

Im 76 yrs old, and packed 3 out of the woods this year by myself!! If I can't pick it up and pack it, I tie it to my stand that has packing sholder straps with about 6 to 8ft of nylon line head or horns as close as I can get it and tow them out that way! Pulled one 205 pounder out of public land this year ! Im in fare health and have a knee I use a brace on so I think you will be surprised at what you can do if ya try !!

I've lived and fished in a lot of states in my 76 years! But Louisiana is the only one that a landowner can control tidal waters!! any other places you can fish any water that is tidal! I guess how you feel about this Rule is controlled by if you own land or not !!LOL

I have been lucky enough to be able to hunt elk in just about all the states where there are elk ! and to tell ya the truth the hunting for Elk in Oregon is just about the best there is!!There are guides and such so you will have to search for them as I have only hunted elk there as a resident ! But they are thick as fleas on a hog out there !!

The only way to have them leave your property is to have no food for them to eat or even smell !! If there's food they will try to get it to eat! All black bears are is a appatite with fur !!Or if a bunch of dog's happened to come around maybe he would leave !! LOL

A comment titled: Deer Processing in response to a report titled: Deer processing.

Im with Mike on this one ! But them Im really old fashion on how my meat is treated!! I bleed and gut my deer in the woods, I don't wait till later to bleed and gut and let them cool as much as possible! I don't mind a little blood on me when I pack them out of the woods!I don't submerge my meat in ice water in a cooler! Ice yes but no water!I wish I still had a cool room as I had on the west coast! where I could hang my meat for a week or so before I butcher and pack it, but I don't have on anymore so I cut and wrap when I return home from the hunt !! I always eat the heart and liver in the hunting camp! but then as I said Im old fashion ! LOL

I have been using a 25 Cal Weatherby for elk and both white and black tail deer for more then 20 years. And have never lost a animal yet! Have had to blood trail a couple of them cus my shot was a little off a little! LOL but have dropped most of them in their tracks with one shot ! as most folks know it's where ya hit them not the bullet size that counts! If ya shoot em in the ass with a 458, your still gonna have to track them ! Just my 2 cent's

A comment titled: House cat in response to a report titled: Need positive identification

Having hunted bear and lions on the west coast in my youth, with dogs, and killed my share of both. I just have to call house cat on this pic !! LOL if you folks ever really see or get a pic of a lion you will be able to tell the difference!! There are lions for sure in this fine state, but the chances of seeing one are slim !! As they are mostly night hunters , as most felines are !! I've seen some tracks up north outside of Bossier City, but did not see the lion! the tracks were on a gut pile on a power line !! Just sayin ya might see one some day but chances are slim !

Now Im a replant to this Wonderful State, and don't know anything to much about wildlife management. But Im smart enough to know theres a big bunch hogs out there in the woods!!If a 75 yr old guy like me can kill a couple of deer and 8 hogs in 3 trips hunting, theres a bunch of hogs breeding out there!!!
