Going to try my luck at the bend tomorrow.

March 31, 2011 at 8:29pm

Well folks my son that is paralyzed from the chest down has done it again. We left for the camp on Nov. 13 at around 4:30 am. When we got there I couldn't find his 7mm-08 shells. So I told him to take my 270 an I would take my blackpower gun. As I put him on his four wheeler I told him that my gun kicked alittle harder than his. I made him a blind that he can drive his four wheeler up into that gets him about 20 more inches off the ground. We left the camp at 6:00, it is only a 5 min. drive to the stand. I told him good luck as we left. Me I'm not much of a stander so I go over to a draw and start easing up a draw were there has been some deer at that we have pictures of. At 6:30 my son text me saying that he had shot. Normaly he would tell me if he had a deer down. So I texted back saying ok. As I walked up the draw I started thinking that he may have gut shoot the deer and thouth he may have missed. So I text him back and told him that I was on my way. About 1.5 mile to him and as I came up over the hill were I could see his box blind I heard something that sounded like I had run over something in the road. Looking back and then it domed on me that he was shooting again. I looked at his box blind and could see the smoke from were he had just shot. Now before ya'll start worrying, he is in a clear cut and shooting away from me. I look down the way his food plot is and I could see dust being kicked up. Boom another shot. As I got there I went on up to were the deer was laying. 9 point. The first time that he had shot was at a doe and had missed it. What a great day it was to be able to shar the moment with him. It really means the world to me.

Talk about knocking the jobs down

FREDERIC J. FROMMER
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Obama administration is issuing a new moratorium on deep-water offshore drilling and it's no longer based on water depth.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar made the announcement Monday, arguing that a pause is still needed to ensure that oil and gas companies implement safety measures to reduce risks - and are prepared to handle spills.

The new moratorium will last through Nov. 30. Unlike the last moratorium, which applied to waters of more than 500 feet, the new one applies to any deep-water floating facility with drilling activities.

Last week, a federal appeals court rejected the government's effort to halt the approval of any new permits for deep-water projects and suspended drilling on 33 exploratory wells.

Going to try my luck on Lake Vernon in the morning

May 06, 2010 at 9:18am

Well everybody it all came together on Wed. 12-2-09. My son was parilized from the chest five years ago. He can ride a four wheeler. We got to the woods about 06:30 and I set him on his four wheeler and had him move to the edge of a feild. I told him that I was going to slip off into the swamp below him and stur around alittle. I have made a four wheeler trail down the side of a creek to walk on. I started slipping down the creeks edge taking a step at a time and looking for the deer that I wanted to shoot. I had made it about 400 yards down the creek when two squirrels started barking. I sit and watched for about ten min. Nothing was moving so I thought the squirrels were barking at me. I moved about 40 more yards down the creek in around 15 min. All of a sudden a deer blowed at me from over my right shoulder. I turned to look and the deer was running down the creek from me and i started whistling at it and lost sight of it at the same time. I took a step to my right to see if I could see it and it took off again in the direction of my son. I then sent a text to my son to let him know that there was a deer and it may be coming his way. I was going to continue my hunt on down the creek when all of a sudden my son fired off a shot. The shot came from a 7mm-08 and it sounded like it was a hit.I said well he either shot the ground or hit a tree or even down the deer. Three more steps and my phone started viberating.(YES)hes done it. Itold him that I was headed to him to stay put. As I approached him I couldn't see anything. Iask him were was the deer that he had shot. He told me that it was down the lane, so Itold him that I was going to walk down the lane and to holler at me when I got close. I walked about 25 yards and could see the deer. I then told him to bring his four wheeler. It was a 100 yard shot, hitting the deer just below the back strap at the tender loin. OH yea a 6 point. We have been tring to get this done for 4 years now. I forgot to tell ya'll that I was crying all the way out of the swamp. It was a great day for us that I will remember for a lifetime.

I know that you sportsman out there ask about trailer lights from time to time. Just wanted to share something that happened to me the other day. I would have my tail lights on and when i would press on my brakes, I would lose all lights. I though it was a bad ground. After checking every thing I could think of, I finally checked the plug on my truck and as it being a few years old it had the rubber between the wire plug pins worn out and was touching each other. So if you use your plug a lot are it is getting old, please keep a eye on it so you don't get a ticket or even worst have someone run into you and mess your day up.

A comment titled: House Boat in response to a report titled: Building a house boat

First off let me say this, i've never built a house boat. To me I would think you would want to build the foundation to last forever if you have the money to do so. With good foundation you can always repair the house it sets on. So i guess what i'm trying to saying is I would have the best pontoons that money could buy.

A comment titled: Not sure it's a bullhead in response to a report titled: What kind of fish is this?

This catfish is easily caught with natural bait such as worms and chicken livers. They have a scrappy but not unusually strong fight. Anglers often catch them by fishing off the bottom. When caught in very clear water when the flesh is firm and reddish to pinkish, the hornpout is quite edible and delicious. Nevertheless, its genial cousins such as the channel catfish and the blue catfish are better known for their consumption qualities. In most areas, they will not exceed two pounds in weight, with a current IGFA world's record of 7 lb 6oz, by Glenn Collacuro, Lake Mahopac NY, August 1, 2009.[2]

Swamp Stalker, it is two deer. I blowed the picture up and you can see the hind quarter of the other one. I've looked at other pictures without the deer in it and there is no brush or sticks there at all.

I have a Optima 209 and I got a BSA scope last year for it and I love it. When I order it I had them do some research on it to make sure that it would with stand the kick of the gun. I can group one inch at 100 yards with 150 grain of powder. Google it as BSA scopes. Hope this helps. By the way I only spent around $80.00 for it.

I don't know what the legal amount of rounds is but i shoot a 270 and it will only hold 5 rounds total. And I know that it is legal. But on the other hand I always use the motto: one shot one kill. This way I'm not leaving a deer to suffer. If I can't get a good shot I don't take it.

As long as you leave a possession tag with whom you leave the meat or fish with, everything will be ok. The receiver does not have to have a lic. I give deer and fish to alot of friends and family all the time.
