So the LDWF commision has reduced the number of either sex hunting days in the Atchafalaya Basin due to the flooding this year. Smart move but I fail to understand how the flooding DID NOT affect clubs that are on DMAP. Where I hunt we are not on DMAP but the club next to ours is on DMAP. I know they had high water also and that the deer on their property were certainly affected also. So how can it be justified that the people on DMAP be allowed to take Does through out the season and those that aren't on DMAP relegated to only 3 days. My guess is as far as the state is concerned, that DMAP fee prevented the high water from affecting the deer on those properties.. LMFAO at that!!
What is so surprising about a Louisiana resident getting cited for illegally taking game and not having the proper licensing. As in the past, another individual has done something to give Louisiana another black eye. Someone becomes successful in the outdoor industry AND was a member of, AND was the head of the state wildlife commission which is the governing body when it comes to wildlife rules and regulations AND goes and does something as ludicrous as killing a calf elk and tries to cover it up? I guess that is what happens when a person gets used to being able to do whatever they want because of their position in society. Rules apply to the peasants not the ;Royalty;!! 95% of the sportsman follow all of the rules and regulations handed down because it is what's right for our wildlife resources and usually they make sense. He should have been banned from hunting for life in my opinion. But that's all it is, is an opinion
