Fished shark bayou and other points close to shore, due to the wind. Ended up with nothing fishing with fresh shrimp. It was, however, a beautiful day on the water and I am grateful for that! Happy Fishing!

While I'm not a GW but having worked with a few in my time, there are many Refuges and WMAs that have plenty of drug activity. Meth labs, sales etc. If you don't believe me ask a GW next time you run into one. The fact of the matter is, there is very few GWs around the state and a large area to cover, why would a druggie risk getting caught in the city where there are many cops, when they could go out to the woods to do there buisness? BTW, I do think that disrespecting someones stuff as you say he did is un called for.

The Bayou Sale unit is hard ground, half of the Garden City unit is mostly hard ground, North Bend east unit is hard ground, North Bend west unit is swampy, Centerville unit is about 75% Swamp 25% Hard, but there are several good ridges.

I've hunted out there steadily for the past two years, albeit not for deer. I have seen plenty of signs, and had actually had a doe approach me from about 5yds away. There is only a handful of people that hunt out there, say no more than about 10 - 15. I don't think that many people know you can hunt out there!

I use Winchester FMJ in the white box for target practice, it is 180grain. Walmart usually sells a 100rds for $20. For self defense I have Federal Premium JHP at 165grain. Last time I bought some I paid $20 for 20rds. I shoot a Springfield XD 40. I've never had any trouble firing these through my XD.

We run 50HP Bigfoot Mercury's at work. Anytime the engine over revs it will let out an audbile tone until you bring back the throttle. As long as you have a good stream of water coming from the engine and it has a good oil level. This is most likely the case, in my experience. You may want to change your prop.

A comment titled: Agreed! in response to a report titled: Game Wardens

I agree with Mr. Mouton, if you had a bad experience, report it. As for being ticketed for not having appropriate safety equipment on your boat, let me ask you this, you would get a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt right? Let me point out the reality of the situation, it is much easier to find a person floating in their PFD on top of the water than it is to drag for a body underwater! Safety equipment is required by law to protect you! It is the Gwarden, Coast Guard, and any marine Police Officers job to check for this. It is also there responsibility to ensure you are operating your boat or ATV responsibly for your protection and everyone around you. If you think that Boating under the influence is any safer than driving you car or truck under the influence, you are sorely mistaken. I'll say it again, everybody has a job to do! It is there to make sure that our natural resources are not exploited and we are in compliance with laws as all good sportsmen and sportswomen should be. If you have a problem with the way they do that, then complain!

A comment titled: SAD Enforcement? in response to a report titled: SAD SAD SAD ENFORCEMENT

First, I am not a gamewarden (GWarden); however, I have worked alongside several. Second, think about this, where are you most of the time when the Gwarden checks you? During hunting season, in your blind or stand with a loaded gun! So maybe the Gwarden is in a heightened state of awareness when they check you. Could you understand why? Think about how many GWardens there are patrolling the waterways and roads of LA, not nearly as many GWardens as there are Police Officers. They have a large areas to cover and a small force! It was mentioned that someone called operation Game Thief one time and they wanted and exact location. Louisiana has a lot of woods and waterways, why not narrow it down so that they're not spending there day searching for one baited pond, when there is twelve more out there to find, or even worse Meth Labs? That's right, meth labs! It's just like what was said, we pay there salary. Do you want them to spend all day searching a general area for something, or go right to it and catch the perpetrator? Put yourself in their shoes next time your stopped, be courteous! You can always catch that buck or duck another day! Everybody has a job to do, and their's is to make sure our resources are not exploited. So next time your checked, thank them for the job they do, cause if they weren't around would there be any fish to catch or animals to hunt? Rant over! Thanks!

A comment titled: Count me in! in response to a report titled: Am I a Freak in this state?

I too enjoy hunting squirrels and especially rabbits! Besides it's easier to leave from work and go straight to the woods and hunt, rather than having to pick up the boat or 4-wheeler to hunt. Don't get me wrong however, I love shooting some ducks too!
