It amazes me that people get up at 2 in the morning to head out to their favorite public land honey holes and come 5 or 6 o’clock people start cracking open beer and shooting whiskey. Then come time to leave the blind they are all buzzed up riding around the wma. As if there aren’t enough things to worry about, there are kids and even adults Booz cruising. A shame some people can’t enjoy a good morning in the blind without Booz. Then they video it and post it on YouTube proud of it like it’s cool.

Ok so I need some help fellas. I just bough an 18 hp long tail and I'm not sure what size boat I should put it on. Would be using it to hunt 2 people maybe 3. What is a good size boat for this size engine? Any help is appreciated thanx.

I’m really curious what Larry Reynolds would have to say on these comments.

There are videos on YouTube, look up habitat flats. The guy plain out admits to farming specifically for waterfowl and use ice eaters to HOLD up to 300,000 birds at any given time. That’s a huge chunk of birds that are being held all season that would potentially migrate hear or even Arkansas. And as jgoins has pointed outs they are not the only ones! jgoins I agree with you 110% . If all we can do is stop these outfits from keeping their properties from freezing, it would be a huge win for us and would help but I also agree with others about habitat loss. What’s the point of having them this far south if we can’t support them which I spend a lot of time in the Kaplan area and on West there is still tons of rice that has been left unharvested. With all due respect I do not think we can rely on mr Reynolds to propose changes because he seems to go by what his “data” show so the question is who is going to bat for us. They may already do this, I’m not sure but I’d love to see a meeting for waterfowl hunters and maybe government officials for everyone’s opinions to be heard. Marshmallow made I loved your explanation of du’s efforts and def agree that they should focus more of their attention on the original “wintering grounds”. You comment was a very good read.

My issue is not so much with the rigs but with the idiots that misuse them. Sat for the opener my buddies and I were sitting In our blind on our favorite wma and from the moment we got there to the moment we finished off our 5 man limit there were both mud rigs and outboards running all around us. Even had the pleasure of watching a fella in a gatortail rig proceed to run about 40 yards from our blind in plain daylight and get stuck on the sand bar just passed us. Must of sat there for about 20 minutes digging trying to get off. So I say it isn’t the tool, it’s the user.

I think a lot of people are just to lazy to do it or they don't think it matters. Weather it matters or not I did it and I was really happy about some of the questions for example the goose limit and dates but even more the public land. I hunt the wax sometimes and a couple years ago I had camped on the levee out there. It was full of kids 16-18 year olds that were all out there drinking and causing trouble, fighting. On the survey I opted for the draw ins because the place is just to packed and people have no problem jumping in your blind. My point is that there were questions on the survey that I was really excited to see and I hope something gets done with the info collected.
