windy day of fishing in golden meadow, tough fishing. caught out limit last weekend but today was a little tougher. morning bite was still a slow steady retreive and as it warmed we swithced to popping corks, caught a lot of little specks in the marsh, but still managed 16 specks 2 reds and a sheepdead.
Since there aren't many post going up, just a mental note since hunting season is around the corner. I am not saying this as a land owner or leasee. Please lets all respect the hunters and stay out of any ponds with blinds during duck season, as the faith of our fishing spots depend on it unfortunatly. here is a scary thought, and some info some of us may not know, that i would like to share. every canal and pond in golden meadow and leeville, is privately leased from oil companys. and the oil companys advise each leesee to kick people out. That just goes to show that the majority of the people leesing property in this area are good people and do not inforce it, as most canals are open to fishing. A good example of this is the canals near the launch in golden meadow suddenly became a pay to fish couple years back, then it faded away as the lessee droped the lease, it all depends on who has the lease, and beleive me all property is leased out there, just call the oil companys and see if you do not beleive. it just didnt become private, it always was. I have been fishing in other areas with canals blocked off by gates, is this legal? yes only in the great state of louisiana. Now there are some canals state owned, but very few. Here is a useful website link you can use to determine what is private and what is state claimed. http://www.doa.louisiana.gov/slo/disclaimer.htm By know means was this post meant to take sides of the fisherman nor the hunter, just to say thanks to all the good guys out there willing to let us have access to canals they pay for, so the least we could do is give them some space during the short hunting season. Its just scary to think that every canal in the marsh could be gated tomorow if that person decided.
had a good day on the water behind golden meadow, fished under the birds, lots of throw backs but still ended the morning at ten with 100 fish, 35 of wich were keeper trout the rest whites only keeping the larger ones. we must have caught well over 200 fish this morning, it was a blast.
a few guys with surface drives cut a small path through the storm clooged launch canal for your outboard to pass. here is a pic of a boat following the narrow path. the fishing is on fire after this storm, good reports coming from everyone who i talked to. I hope to maybe get out sat. will post report.
BOOOOOM baby back online we got power in cut off finally, close the windows kick the mosquitos out and turn on the ac. golden meadow and grandisle still out tho maybe a few more days, I hope they get some soon.
left out golden meadow sat. morning headed streight to bayou blue to hit the banks for some reds. threw everything in the box at them with no luck. we could see them but they would not bite, didnt have any live or fresh bait to try, so we shifted gears anwent on the prowl for trout. by that time thunder storms were starting to sorround us, so we headed to lake billiot and got on a decent bite and caught 18 keeper trout half speck and half whites with some throw backs AS well. only got to fish about an hour before lightning and rain chased us in. trout were caught on popping cork with double chartruese split tail grubs.
You know i really wish when people would post how many fish they caught they would give a general direction, dont have to give ur direct spot but name the specific area, are keep ur pictures to ur self. because people will see ur pics and will ask thinking u actually want to help. I and many on thise site do give good info like for example. I caught my limit this weekend near casstette island in timbalaier bay. or i caught 30 specs this weekend on the beach elmers island. Bob gouges gives this info, myself and many others. people with pictures and no general direction just want to make people think they are great.

My youngest of my 2 girls caught her first fish at 2 years old, with her uncle Chase on the dock of our camp near elmers island for fathers day. she was all smiles.
Went to my brother in law's house and noticed his boat looks like it hasn't moved in a while. Time to take a day off of work before he cant find his boat, LOL.
Well after a horable trip sat. with 25mph winds and cold weather, we were able to take the day off today (tues.) and go out to bayou blue south catfish lake and limit out on some nice reds, the old man and me. It wasnt fast and furious but we had agreat time. best bait was blue tsunami swim bait, altho we fished strictly artaficial market shrimp prop would have worked also. If you need a boat email us or give us a call 985-475-7878 or 985-665-6374
Well hunting season is over and its back to fishing. went out this morning to catfish lake and found plenty of specks on the north side but only bagged 6 legal before the wind picked up. headed for the marsh and fished the cuts with current in about 4ft of water to finish the morning with 22 specks 1 red 2 drum, wich is great for this time of year. my father and i had a great time on the water. If you need a boat to get out there we can rent you one, call for more details. 985-475-7878 985-665-6374

Had some customers take a rental boat out this morning to catfish lake to get in on some of the great fishing to come. they enden the morning with 15 or so nice trout and 2 reds, one of wich was a lunker at 17 pounds. the fishing will only get better with the coming months. hey guys does anyone know when the drawing for a chance for a lottery duck hunt for a weekend on sherburme would be, and how soon they let you know. I registered and had it in before oct 7. never done this before and was just wondering how it worked.
Hey guys can anyone tell me if there are any ducks in dulac, thinking of getting in on a lease near the harry bourg property area on the south side. Any info on how you may have done last year on the ducks if you hunt that area. thanks.
well lee is gone and after having to last minute cancel our boat rentals for the weekend, were having some great weather, the fish should start moving in to the catfish lake area this month. If you are in need of a boat give us a call, for more info. 985-475-7878 or 985-665-6374
Winds are kicking in cut off/ golden meadow right now. just had this crazy gust of wind that blew my 21 foot proline boat on a double axle trailer out from under my carport and on to the street, LOL. crazy man i never had that happen, my neighbor came knock at the door and told me he saw it, and it took both of us to push it back. LOL.
Trout bite still great in jackos camp bay out of deep bayou in leeville. launched out of boudraux's early sat morning and tried something different, ran out to the gulf to fish the beach in fourchon and elmers. there were a few fish there but it was a little slow boating 20 or so trout by 9 am. so we headed to our spot in jackos camp bay and it was on, ending the morning with 98 trout, specks and whites mixed. If you need a boat to get out there we now have an 18ft bay boat to rent, or if you like marsh fishing, we have jon/flat boats available. call for more details @ 985-475-7878 or 985-665-6374
$560 but if the paint is peeling and it needs to be stripped could go bout $700 thats what we would charge you at gaspard collision center, prices could vary from one shop to another, but that should be close.
I agree jack :)
Sorry for your loss, the boat and trailer will turn up, its probably been ditched already, its the motors they usually want. I found a bay boat like that down an old oil field road once with the engine missing, sadly fire had been set to this one in attemp to burn the evidence. I keep insurance on mine because fear of theft. hope they catch em tho.
try to find the crawfish model its a littlw lighter little shorter easier to turn, perfect for a smaller boat. as for as the hp i say 23 because it ways the same as the smaller 16. my buddy had crawfish model 23 on a 12 foot it was a tad bit small but the 14 should be alright, he made 21mph light boat 19 loaded
check all the hoses coming from the oil pump to the block make sure one did not pop off, it will be tiny small grey hoses.
x2
I love pickin on you guys so much fun lol, back to fishing tomorrow tho, time to get serious uhummm.
in the article i posted read all the way to the bottom it says they will soon be adding trout.
sell those costly bay boats save thousands on fuel and hours of back breaking labor http://supermarketnews.com/top-50-small-chains-amp-independents/rouses-debuts-private-label-gulf-fish-program
rouses supermarket in larose sells trout reds drum case yall get hungry dont have to do all that work to go fishing, lol. no they really do tho.
well doesent look like either side is gonna give up on whether we need to lower the limit of specks. so cant wait for saturday so i can go deplete the trout population in my secret spots behind golden meadow.
scientist recently discoverd that not all of us come from apes. some have evolved from squirlel's, and have some of the same habits from there former ancestors leading them to wanna stock food for the winter. these people have been known to wanna catch loads of trout for the freezer. some seek help for these bad habits from doctors. the only cure is to quit whinning and take more time to fish. moving closer to the water could help fourchon is hiring. lol
ten of many things scientist have been wrong about in the past. http://www.thecoolnews.org/2007/12/05/10-things-your-science-teacher-was-wrong-about-2/ hope some of you guys still did not believe some of this stuff LOL
It did not help u say because there are more and more people fishing better boats and so on, if they would not have limited them they would have none left. i also agree with all other things mentioned that are hurting the fisheries too, like erosion. dont get me wrong.
SCIENTIST say we came from monkeys, do you agree?????? YES i am smarter than scientist. I am not calling for lower limits, but i bet my life that day will come because trout or over fished. use common sense guys its a GOD givin gift. lol.
I just think that if truly we could not hurt specks by rod and reel, there would not be a size limit or quantity limit on it at all. we all have our different opinions on things, but wheather its rod and reel, erosion, or something else, the majority agree we are catching less trout now than years ago. so even if its not rod any reel depleting, if you raise our size limit or lower quantity limit, it has to help, its common sense you may not see it right away, but each fish that gets put back will spawn and multiply only helping. it cant hurt and i think people who are not so good at finding or catching trout will notice it first.
I agree erosion has a part, but i think we do too. thats why no one ever says exactly where they catchin fish, because they know it will get fished out. ask for advice and you get these answeres. fish the points and cuts with current in ----- lake. when they should say go in the corner of ----- lake, take the first cut, go down and there is a canal that crosses a small pond. get right off the point comming into the pond. thats were i been catching. LOL. no one wants to admit it, but after a month youll never catch a fish there again. lol.
good points from everybody guys, but weather its this or that doesnt matter, wheather we like it or not, the day is comming that the 25 fish limit will be reduced. I think the majority of people will agree there are less fish in common places these days because of over fishing, RIGHT???? he who does not agree please post all your hot spots here with gps coordinates, because it cant be fished out RIGHT? Did not think so. Now I would like to let the cat out the bag, about something. here goes, does anyone ever get frustrated reading about posts of people catching fish in certain areas but when you go you cant catch? oh its because they lying right? nope. Heres what goes on, guys who are cathing fish are digging deep going into places way in the marsh, hidden pipelines, hard to get to bays, far away islands, you know places with less fishing pressure. Not to say that fish still cant be caught ocassonally at certain times of year in certain common spots, but guys have these go to places that just make them seem to be fish gods, when you cant catch. I have a few of those spots, oops did i say that? knowing your area helps, but my point is that i did not need these spots before i could just catch fish in so many other places, that i just zoom by now. So, by this i have no choice but to say yes, we must be hurting the population as much as i dont want it to be, my experiences beg to differ. Just my opinion hope no one is offended.
cfl will be hit and miss from now till september with the trout, they movin out for shrimp, to the grey duck, racourcii, timbalaier bay, leeville area. goin lookin for em in the am.
