With all the good things you hear about the 4 strokes, here's something to keep in mind. Long story made short, it is next to impossible to rope start an F 115 4 stroke due to high compression. Deep in the marsh, I finally was able to do a 1 rope turn on the exposed flywheel and reach over to the key switch and do a pull and turn and she fired up after four attempts. The 2 strokes were easy to rope start.

A quest at our fishing club meeting(new owner of Bason's boat launch down West 107th. in Cut Off La.)gave an update on future plans for the launch. He stated that rumors were that a $400.00 yearly fee would be required to use the facility were just that, rumors. The existing $5.00 fee would remain. Also, upgrades have already begun. Sure hope that's the case...

Need help! I purchased a garmin gps/sonar 541s map and like it very much, it's for my 23' boat. I also purchased a Garmin 421s map for my 18' hull. They look identical except actual size. My problem is the 421s map is nowhere near the quality of the 541s. Everything I read, they are supposed to be the same except size. Would appreciate feed back... thx.

Friend in hospital now with Vibro. Contacted this past weekend on Grand Isle while picking up crab cage and got scratched from a broken wire. Swelling started on hand then moved upward very quickly. Hoping doctors caught it in time.

Well, I was doing all the maintenance, all the legal stuff and when I sold my camp I offered to sell him my half of the boat but he felt like he should have the boat. I sold the boat and gave him half. Things have never been the same.
I guess it depends on how well the rear seal does it's job. I probably over grease by pumping up every other fishing trip. One thing I do now is to look at the spring to see if it's compressed or extended on the stainless or chrome plated types. Caution though, sometimes the moving inner part that the spring works against gets stuck in the full position and the rear bearing will run dry. It happened to me and one of my wheels completely fell off at the marina and floated away.
'the ploan', Two wheel drive or 4 wheel, it makes a difference, so says the camper sales people. They say the 2 wheeler can handle more weight. I think you're ok. I had an f-150 4 wheel drive with the 5.4 and a 9000 # bumper pull camper and I would say that truck was at it's limit. Only problem with that one was the Luling bridge, 40 mph and 3000 RPM. I have since upgraded to an f-250 Power Stroke turbo diesel and it doesn't even downshift. Have fun with the f-150 it should ok at 6000#.
I will try to top off the towing discussion with a little funny thing. Many years ago during a Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo, I was towing a boat in with forward gear problems when my engine started running hot. We swapped towing positions coming into the weigh in with the other boater towing me in reverse gear.

Thanks for the comments guys. My point was to create awareness that you can't rope start an F 115 four stroke with whatever the cause may be. My problem turned out to be a defective starter. Good and safe fishing to all...
