Anyone know of a good fiberglass repair shop in Baton Rouge area? I hit an underwater object Submerged about 40 yards south of enstar platform out of Dularge. Was basically idling into position and 'bumped' what I'm guessing was and under water post. I have a fiberglass 22 ft sea hunt. I hit this early in AM and fished for another four hours. Noticed the bilge come on once ( which never happened before) Pulled plug at home and had what I would guess was a gallon or so which normally would have little to nothing.

I'm in need of a mechanic to trouble shoot what I think is carb problems on my Honda foreman. Besides GN Gonales and friendly yamaha anyone know of a good mechanic in WBR or Baton Rouge area?

I'm in need of a place to store my 22ft boat. I would like for it to be indoor or at the very least covered. I live in the baton rouge area and mostly fish out of Amelia or dularge.
Thanks for you help!

Instead of the same old florida vaction, I managed to talk my wife into a "fishing vacation".

Here's my problem. In the past when I would fish with buddies cleanliness and amentities really did not matter. I need a camp that is nice. I have a four year old and a four month old. I will possibly have other family members coming to stay and to enjoy the view while they babysit our kids.

Im familiar with the Dularge, and Cocodrie area and would like a nice camp/vacation home there.

Im not looking for a guide service, I have my own boat and enjoy fishing saltwater inshore and near offshore.

Does such a place exist?

What the best place to buy a pistol in/around Baton Rouge area. Currently looking at a Kahr CW 40 at Jims Firearms but Im sure there is much cheaper places around.

Anyone else taking the class this weekend at bass pro?

March 12, 2009 at 7:56am

What pistols do you all carry? Im looking for a pistol that I can also carry concealed. I have heard a lot about the Kahr's.

What are you guys using to attach the new tags to your deer. I was thinking of using trash bag tie wraps and wondering what you guys are using.

On a side note. I have a lifetime lic and when I picked up my tags I asked the lady "Do I owe you anything" she replied no not with a lifetime lic. Here is the kicker, she then says BUT if you happen to loose these come back and for $3 bucks you can get more. I realize this is more for data collection and not to police hunting But I can see outlaws taking full advantage. Im not going to do it but first thing that comes to my mind is unlimited tags this year for a lot of people!

Does anyone know of a place two or three fisherman can spend the night in Dularge area? Last few trips we made we leave Baton Rouge, drive to Dularge, fish, drive back to Houma and spend the night, Drive back to dularge, fish, back to BR...lots of time spend on road and not fishing!!

By the way school trout are everywhere!

There was an earlier post about Progressive being good boat insurance. Im probably one of thousands wanting to leave allstate after realizing I have a $6000 hurricane deductable. Who do you guys use?

I usually launch my boat in dularge to make it offshore. This weekend I will be staying in a camp in Cocodrie. Whats the best route to get offshore from the marina. I have never launched in cocodrie. I do have gps, depthfinder and a standard aerial map. Looks like a small pipeline canal that passes bay sale and brings you on the north end of bay blanc would that work? Is there a better route? The boat is a 22ft bay boat if that matters. THANKS for the help!

Anyone have any luck in Dularge on Saturday? We fished the pickets, Mardi Gras, mouth of grand bayou dularge, the coast from grand bayou dularge to oyster bayou, with not even a bite! Talked to four other boats at the landing and one caught a red.

May 25, 2008 at 8:33am

Does anyone on here fish out of Burns Point? I usually fish four league bay and oyster bayou and someone told me to try out Burns Point. I thought it would be a much shorter ride than going thru the marsh out of Amelia, and much safer than running the river. Any information would be great...THANKS

Im heading to Golden Meadow this weekend and the boat launch I used to use behind the crab shack can not accomodate the size boat we are taking. Does anyone know if the Golden meadow public launch could handle a 22foot boat?

I just purchased a white fiberglass boat. Any suggestions on how to clean the inside bottom from footprints after a trip? I have tried a boat brush with water and that just does not do it. Should I mix clorox and water? Simple green mixture?

Thanks for you help...

Im reseaching different boats and would like some opinions/comments. I like to fish saltwater and Im about to buy a boat for marsh/bay fishing. I have a max budget of 20k. I looked at the Xpress 20ft center console mainly because I thought fiberglass hulls would not be able to take much oyster reef abuse as a aluminum hull. Is this correct? Any boat comments or suggestions Is greatly appreciated!!!!!

Fished Sulphur mine Friday morning for a few hours and only thing I caught was a visit from the game warden, left mine and fished canals around catfish lake. 6 specks 15-17 1/2 inches, couple of sheephead, drum, 1 undersized red. Showed the fish everything, DOA's, H&H cockahoes, spoon, tried on bottom, on popping cork, all fish caught on popping cork with doa tipped with shrimp in the middle of the canals.

Fished the bridge at Grand Isle for a couple of hours. 1 red, One 28 inch drum and a bunch of hard heads. All caught on cut mullet on the bottom.

Ended trip with Sunburn, gnat bites (that itch like heck!)and 80 pounds of shrimp that I had to buy. STILL BETTER THAN WORK OR BEING AT HOME!!

March 05, 2007 at 8:38am

Going to Grand Isle this coming weekend. Does anyone know if the reds/specks or in the bay? We are staying in a camp with a private lighted pier. Any help/advise would be appreciated. Also people are requesting I bring them shrimp back, are shrimp running? THANKS!

February 26, 2007 at 9:50am

Just wanted to get everyones thoughts on the May 5-27 squirrels season that will start this year. I love hunting and eating spuirrels but not bad enough to hunt them in MAY!! The new May 5-27 season will carry a three-squirrels-per-day limit — the regular October-through-February season’s daily limit is eight — and will be open on all private lands.

Did you cast net for live bait or purchase? Live shrimp at house boat a few weekends ago was fifty cents a piece!

The weekend I went out the only ones catching big numbers were those who had live croakers. Of course the guides will tell you they caught their fish on Orange crush or LSU chubs. Gotta remember there is no $$$$ , 'sponsorship' $$$ in saying you are catching fish on live bait.

I own a 22ft with a yama 150 four stroke. I love the boat, draft very little water, takes on the big waves no problem. Fully rigged out trolling motor, on board charger, gps depth finder, aluminum double axle trailer, I paid right at 30k with TTL. I live in Port Allen let me know if you want to test drive.

I have always fished washouts. I would try to find a couple on falling tide. I have arrived at the Money hole to find the water pulling in the marsh or still. Eat a sandwich drink a few cold ones and hold on when the water starts to pull out. I have had many trips where it was like I was on a fishing show. Every cast had a couple 50 plus trips. Plastic worm bounced off bottom.

One eye where do you conceal it? I would like to use my back pocket. I own a S&W 38 revolver and the revolver seems thick. Someone recommended the Ruger LCP, thin and keeps in back pocket.
