during the sunday night football halftime bob costas made a speech blaming a gun for a murder/suicide and said if guns werent available this wouldnt have happened. heres a few nbc people that might want to hear 'OUR' opinion on their antigun adgenda. especially during football and using a such a tragedy as this to push such a adgenda

Im looking to see if theres anyone familiar with hog/deer hunting the pearl river wma that wants a hunting partner or could give me a few pointers/areas to try to hunt. I have a boat use it to hunt. Ive hunted the area for the last 3 years but Id like someone thats familiar with the area to hunt. hunting alone kinda sucks sometimes. i hunt some weekdays and weekends. if theres anyone interested or anyone that just could shoot me a email of some different areas that have had some sucess i would appreciate it.

An oil spill in Lake Five has oil leaking into both Jefferson and Plaquemines Parishes.

Lake Five is located within Jefferson Parish near the Plaquemines Parish line.

Plaquemines Coastal Director P.J. Hahn estimates the leak to be small, releasing about five gallons per hour, but adds 'it looks like it's been leaking for some time.'

Two well heads, about 75 yards apart, are leaking and it appears to be from an old 'orphaned' well.

This means the well had been abandoned and is lacking care.

There have also been reports of oil leaking into nearby marsh lands harming vegetation and trees.

The spill has been reported to the Coast Guard.

water is still flowing over the levee in the lake hermitage area and as of noon hwy 23 is closed at the launch road. were gonna try to check on everyones camp tomorrow morning.

September 04, 2011 at 7:02pm

does anyone know who drives pilings for camps accessable by water only in the upper plaquemines parish area? thanks

if they ban bowfishing nobody will be able to help stop these things from taking over the marsh also.these large carp are taking over the saltwater/brackish marsh. I went out for one of my first bowfishing/redfish "eraticating" trips of the year and was amazed how large carp are taking over the saltwater marsh so very quickly. I allways thought these fish were freshwater fish but i guess they like brackish too. I could have had dozens, but the cheating with a bow wasnt so easy.

why cant yall get a handle on the abuse of the classifieds but you can delete my last post about it. for example, theres a guy, gulfcoastgolfcarts that joined 8 hours ago and has 24 ads in the classifieds. what if everyone was to call him next week( 228-669-2304)and tell him you dont appreciate his spamming of the site. I bet he wouldnt like all his time wasted, but he doesnt mind wasting our time scrolling through all them ads. get a 1 post per 24 hours program or something to stop this crap, its rediculous!

I had the pleasure of hunting on private property and getting this hog with a knife and finally got him mounted. well,I had the assistance of some good dogs too! he had about 3 inch teeth and was around 300 pounds. one of his ears looks bad because the catch dogs shredded it and the taxidermist couldnt make a miracle, lol.

January 02, 2010 at 5:53pm

thought somebody would enjoy these pics. not the best pics, but I promise this things a beast. easily over 200 inches.

I am looking for any dog trainers that may have time to work with my 5-6 month old 65lb black lab available around the westbank area. hes a fast learner with everything i show him,but he doesnt seem to have interest in retrieving and doesnt like water at all. I know about all the training books, but I DONT have the paitence for that, and the only book we will need is the "good" book if I continue training him alone. he will run to whatever i throw, but once it stops moving,he stops caring about it. I tried everything. I try to get him excited about it,but then he just wants to run and jump around me instead of getting to object thrown. I cant afford 400-500 dollars a month for a 5-6 month program, but am willing to pay for services at my home,or your place. I actually dont duck hunt, but want a disciplined, deliver to hand retrieving hand signal training needed,as I dont duck hunt.e mail responses please

I have came to the conclusion that free money and free living has become to easy to get. I have been through numerous employees multiple times but this year has been the worst. theres more broken alarm clocks and dead family members than ever seems people enjoy complaining about not working rather than just getting up and working. I pay cash money, dont ask much except be on time, and its very easy hours. most weeks we dont even work fridays, which is what I thought most guys that dont wanna work would like. anyways,Im just sitting here thinking about having to work tomorrow with a pinched nerve without help AGAIN and needed to vent.thanks for reading...

I was told today by agents in the area that the muzzleloader season dates on the P.R. WMA was a misprint. it states the season starts nov 7,but actually it doesnt start until nov 9. nov 7-8 is youth (firearm) only. there will be agents at all the boat launches turning adult muzzleloader hunters around and they wont take the misprint as a excuse if caught,so dont waste your time.bad part is there NOT putting much effort in making it known. posting here is free, and theres no notices posted anywhere along the WMA. I hate to be that agent turning guys away on saturday morning. theres gonna be sum complaining.

November 05, 2009 at 7:58pm

this is just a report on a regulation I see alot of guys violating unintentionally.I was told recently that the "hunter orange" that is required can NOT be the ones made of mesh material. I see alot of guys wearing them, but on a wma where I hunt a agent said it must be "unbroken material",and mesh is considered "broken material". Maybe I just met a particular type of agent. evey place sells the mesh or plastic only.I just thought posting this may save a few tickets this year. also a orange hat is required.

A comment titled: well..... in response to a report titled: sunday night football anti gun rant

hes not smart enough to write that speech he just copied a article wrote by jason whitfield earlier this week. hes another writer with the 'victim' mentality. no accountability, just blame the gun. not the mountain of mental issues that were diagnosed by the drs and all the threats and criminal acts he did against the lady he eventually murdered... they ignored them because he played football good. now theres a infant with no mom or dad. yeah its the guns fault..

A comment titled: hogs in response to a report titled: Pearl river

Ive been hunting there a few years and let me tell you.... its not easy. the woods are thick and them hogs are mostly nocturnal so early morning and late evening. be careful, its easy to get turned around, really easy. best bet is to do a good bit of scouting. if you just jump in the baot and go it will be even more difficult. i usually launch at crawfords landing and eiter run up or down river then park my boat and walk. and walk. and walk until i find some sign or hear them. i use the advanced hydrologic prediction service to monitor river levels. a spike in the river level changes everything completely. it can go from 6' to 12' in a few days. i hope i helped a little bit. good luck. you can email me if you have any more questions.

actually allison I was trying to offer what i was told. dumb ass comments like you make is the reason people cant have a discussion on this site.
a accident scene investigator may have a little more experience on this subject and I offered what he told me. thats it.

A comment titled: whats up tan? in response to a report titled: Trailer Tires

now days i just get the thickest ply trailer tire i can find. Im running 10 plys right now.
I ran car tires before but was casually informed by a state trooper friend that putting car tires on a trailer isnt legal and would drastically increase your liability if a accident happened involving your trailer.
the explanation was that traier tires are specifically made to go flat in a uniform fashion causing the trailer to stay in a straight line while car tires are more prone to go flat in a more uncontrolled unpredictable fashion causing the trailer to possibly swerve into another lane into oncoming traffic or the other way off the road completely and endangering pedestrians.
I am guilty of putting car tires on many boats and am far from a safety expert but I figured some people might be interested in learning from my experiences.

2 things have to happen. its gotta be cold and the water has to fall. a few days of a stiff north wind and then bitter cold is the combo your looking for. as far as fishing off the bank space is very limited.

January 11, 2012 at 9:01pm
A comment titled: spread in response to a report titled: Spread Requirments

most spread requirements in clubs i have been in also have a minumum base to tip length that cancels out the spread requirement. ie. a deer in the 13' minimum spread club where we hunted would let you kill him if hes under 13' wide as lond as hes 17' from the base to tip or if we got a picture of a obviously elderly/bad genetics deer we would show the picture to the owner before shooting it to get permission. yeah, pain in the butt considering 2300 dollars a year but they believe in their program.

A comment titled: buck in response to a report titled: Loud mouth Buck?????

for muzzleloader season in arkansas we had a buck standing at our smoldering camp fire at 3 am screaming at our 2 travel trailers. he screamed loud and long enough to wake everyone up. we went outside and still he stood there screaming. the next day we followed the way he headed away from us and found the biggest rub i ever seen. we were obviously camping on his territory and he wanted us to know he wasnt happy about it. awesome experience......
