Trying to get some feedback on the ATV pull behind tillers. I have a bike and pull behind cutter, but want to become completely self sufficient this fall when it comes to managing my food plots. I'm in a nice 1,000 acre piney woods club in St. Helena (red dirt) with a decent deer population. I have (2) personal plots that I've maintained for the past 13 years with the use of other members tractors, so they've been turned. They are not huge plots and was wondering if those pull behind roto-tillers work well. I'm not sure if I want to invest the $1,200 or so without doing a little homework. Thanks for any opinions or experience you might have had using them.

Agree with Henry, left leg and a Bobcat.
Congrats to both of you, this is a memory you guys will share forever.
I noticed recently the Academy in Harahan starting carrying a few reloading items. Notice I said a few, they have some projectiles and primers, but don't know if they have powder or actual tools, didn't pay much attention. It's amazing how little we have in the line of hunting supplies in the New Orleans area. The Walmart stores don't even carry firearms since the Katrina gun grab.
Garfield? No, I think Garfield is fatter than that guy.
Take a measurement of what you're throwing and calculate out that way. Have a guy I hunt with took a plastic container and made a chart on the side showing the weight of corn in half pound increments (like a measuring cup, only bigger). You take a card board box and place it around your feeder motor and catch how much it throws and dump it in the container and weigh it. If you're throwing 1 lb per throw, twice a day, with 200 lbs you're good for 100 days. Unless of course you have a Raccoon or Squirrel problem with robbing your feeder. I prefer the motor feeders over the gravity feeders, you can control the amount and time you're feeding.
Also try ammosupplywarehouse.com, better prices and they have it. I was at Academy the other day and saw a box of 50, 22lr and think it was like $ 5.49. Also, there's some entrepreneurs on this site trying to rip people off.
We have had four bucks killed in the last 2 days at our lease in Greensburg. Unfortunately, I'm at work and got the hear about it through text messages, e-mails and phone calls.
I can scroll through reports and pictures of deer kills all day, but I can't help but stop when the kids are doing it. Congrats to both of you, off to a good start, let's see a few more.
For the record, I voted yes also and know a lot of people who hunt north La. My question is, would you really deprive yourself from the best fishing in North American over a proposal that means exactly squat to the typical sportsman? Hell, I didn't even know how many officials they had or where they were from 'Don't Care'. If so, we miss you already.
Can't think of a better way to spend a day with your kid. Congrats to both of you and you're right you'll never forget that day. Hope that nine comes back and gives him another shot and hope you never loose that buck fever!!
Congrats to you both. I agree, it's more exciting when your kid gets one now. Hope to see her second deer soon.
I've hunted just north of the town of Greensburg for the past ten years or so. The deer herd (at least where we're at) isn't what it was when I started. There's still good hunting and I hope the logging work they've done by us the past couple years helps. But there was a time when it was nothing to see deer every trip to the stand and now you may not see one in a weekend. My brother was in a club which sounds a lot like where your looking and got out and joined by us a few years ago. If you can, make a guest hunt or two and see how it looks. The place he was at had a few clubs which shared a main road, not sure how the borders were defined.
I called both Cabelas and Bass Pro right after I killed it and even sent pictures, they didn't want it. I wasn't trying to sell it, just see if they wanted to display it. One of the guys in my camp is a taxidermist and he took it.
Kind of looks like a buck I killed a few years back in St. Helena Parish, he had no man parts and was traveling with a pack of does also. Guess he was just one of the girls.
Your top priority should be school, there's nice places to live anywhere from 10 to 45 minutes from downtown that's not in the city. If you're thinking public school, better head to the north shore, very little in the way of good public schools south of the lake. If your looking into the private schools, the south shore has some very good schools to choose from, private and catholic. I've lived here my whole life and have little use for New Orleans itself, but Jefferson parish has a lot of nice neighborhoods from Metairie, Harahan, Old Jefferson and River Ridge. Any of these would be a short commute to downtown.
Here's a picture one of my buddies had. Sad that I shot this guy and didn't have a picture of it. He was also a pretty big body deer, around 155 lbs if I remember right. Had no branching at all, just what looks like two vulcanos.
I killed one very similar to that a few years back in St. Helena parish. I had seen it once the year before, but couldn't shoot it because of antler restrictions where I hunt. A few guys had pictures of it the next year and agreed to take it out if seen. Was one of the most exciting hunts I've ever had, anyone can kill an eight point, that is a once in a lifetime deer. Congrats!!
That looks like a deer that's got it's head turned to the left. He's quartering slightly towards the camera from left to right.
I say post the culprits picture if you got it and sure he's the one who did it. We gave the detective with Tangipahoa the name of the person who stole the firearms and valuables from us and they still couldn't figure it out. This was the only person who had access to the safe the items were secured in and they still didn't do anything, even tried to steal the safe!! I thought they would show a little more attention considering the push to keep firearms out of stupid peoples hands. I guess if it would have been one of the good ole boys, they might have done the right thing.
Congrats to you and Sam, nothing like watching our hunting buddies score on a good hunt. Hopefully the memories for them mean as much as they do for us.
