Guys, I'm looking for some feedback on the Blazer Bay 2220 Professional or 2220 Fisherman. I am toying with the idea of upgrading and would like some feedback from guys who own this rig or have ridden in one. I know this boat will be skinny enough for the marsh I fish, but how well does it handle a chop? I currently own a Skeeter ZX 20 bay boat and have fished out of it for 6 years. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Here's a skull mount I recently did for my 7 year old boy's first deer. Some of you guys may like the idea and want to make one of your own. I made the frames for the pictures and then poured a clear resin over the pictures. It cures clear like glass.

I have a couple of skull mounts that I've done but I need to bleach the skulls. What products do you guys use? I think its clairol # 5 and another product mixed into a paste and brushed on the skull. Any input appreciated. Thanks.

Guys, I noticed an oil stain under my motor yesterday. Looked around and saw that is was coming from where the stainless rod goes into my hydraulic steering unit in front of my motor. The hydraulic fluid had dripped down my jack plate and onto the slab. The area of oil on the concrete was around 5' in diameter. I'm guessing that seal is busted, or that it could have built up pressure and leaked out. Have any of you ever seen this happen and the seal not been totally shot. If not, how tough of a repair is it? I have Sea Star hydraulic steering. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

This isn't a report, but figured someone out there would have some input. Most on this site are truck guys anyway. I have a 2011 Z71, 5.3 V8. Just turned 60,000 miles, so I'll need a new set of tires in the not too distant future. OEM tires are Bridgestone Dueler RH-S, P265/65 R18. These tires are 31.5' tall. I'm looking to go up one size and like the Cooper AT3. Next size up is the P275/65 R18. These are 32.14' tall. Have any of you guys made a similar tire change on a newer chevy? The AT3 isn't real aggressive. I'm wondering if any of you have any feedback on how much mpg I should expect to lose. Thanks for any feedback.

Webmaster, I am having a problem posting an ad on the classifieds. It will not let me select a subcategory, which is a required field. When I click on subcategory, the box shrinks down and does not show any subcategory options to select, so I can't post the ad. Can you please take a look at this? Thanks.

Guys, my power pole remotes are not working. I replaced the battery in each one, and the little red indicator light on each remote lights up, but the unit will not deploy when you hit the button. My power pole works perfectly fine from the toggle switch on my console. Have any of you ever experieced this? I am hoping it's not a major thing and that some of you may have some advice on how to start off troubleshooting it. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

My uncle has an old Colt single shot shotgun that he wants to have restored. It flooded during Katrina. The rust on the barrel is minor, but the rust on the reciever is a lot worse. He is mainly looking to have it reblued, and possibly have the wood refinished. Does anyone know of a good gunsmith on the northshore within a reasonable distance from Slidell? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I have a Minn Kota On Board 2 bank charger that is 6 years old. I have never had an issue with it, but it appears that it's only charging one of my batteries right now. After charging for a couple of days, one battery is fully charged and the other reads 4.4 volts when tested with a volt meter. I hooked up my portable charger to the battery that is not being charged by the on board, and it appears to be taking a charge, so that battery doesn't have a bad cell. My question is this. On the top of the charger, it says battery 1 on one side, and battery 2 on the other. There is a red and green LED light by the battery 1 label and also by the battery 2 label. When I plug it in right now, battery 1 has both the green and red LED lit, and battery 2 has just the green LED lit. Has anyone had this problem before? I am curious to see if it was a loose connection, or if the unit had crapped out if this happened to one of you. All of my connections appear to be corrosion free and tight. Thanks in advance for any help.

Have any of you guys had a deer hide tanned? I have talked to a couple of tanneries, all but one want the hide already fletched and told me that it has to be sent to them by a taxidermist. The only one I have found that will take the hide like I have it is in Michigan. Right now, the hide is caped out and frozen. Have any of you used a tannery that you were pleased with and would also take my hide as is? I'd like them to do a turn key deal for me. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Guys, I have a 2011 Z71 and I'm thinking of putting a leveling kit on it. I had a leveling kit on my last truck, and I have a few friends with them. Do any of you guys have a level kit that does not affect the factory ride at all? If so, what brand do you have? My last truck took potholes a little harder after I had the level kit installed, but I have a friend with a 2009 Z71 with a level kit who says he experienced no difference from the factory ride. He can't remember what brand he has. Thanks in advance for any feedback. This is something I won't do until my next set of tires.

Guys, I recently bought a new Chevy truck. It came with a drop in bed liner from the factory. I would hate to pull out the drop in liner and get the bed sprayed since it's already there, but I want something to cover the bed rails. Original plan was to spray the bed and the rails, but then the truck was delivered with the drop in. Bushwacker makes some nice looking bed rail caps that I am thinking of putting on if I decide to leave the drop in liner. Does anyone have any experience with the Bushwacker rail caps? Do they warp/come loose over time? Thanks for any feedback.

I have a Skeeter ZX20 that I have run for a few years. The boat handles good in a chop for a 20' rig. A buddy of mine told me that installing a set of hydraulic trim tabs would really make a noticeable difference. I've never had a boat with hydraulic tabs before, only fixed position tabs on a flat before. Is a 20' boat too small for the tabs to make a difference? I only see them on larger bay boats. Thanks.

Guys, my brother in law shot a mature buck this weekend and we noticed something strange while cleaning it. The buck weighed 245 lbs, but had a poor rack; pretty much a big cow horn with a crab on one end. This deer had 2 teets on each side of his package, like a doe would have. We've never noticed this on a buck before, and we're wondering if he was some sort of hermaphrodite or something. Check out the pic attached and see if this is something you have seen before. By the way, he was running 3 does when he shot him.

I'm looking for some first hand feedback on the Ultra Rest made by Quality Archery Designs. Also, the Hunter model Ultra Rest is $55, and the upper end Pro Model is $135. Is there enough difference between the two to justify buying the upper end model? I am leaning towards the Hunter version. Thanks in advance for any input.

I have been trying different factory loads out of a new 270 WSM rifle, and I'm looking for feedback on the Winchester XP3 ammo as a deer round. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Guys, I guy I work with is selling a set of Interco Swamp Lite ATV tires. The first question I have is are they good tires? The size is AT 26 x 12.00-12. Does anyone know if this size will fit on a Honda Rancher 350 4 x 4? The rim size is 12 x 7.5. Does turning these bigger tires cause any damage to your bike (transmission, etc)? Thanks in advance for any input.

Guys, I have an older Leupold scope that says the adjustments are 2MOA. Does this mean that at 100 yards, 2 clicks equal 1 inch of adjustment? I can't remember. My newer scopes are 1/4' MOA, which is 4 clicks to 1 inch of adjustment at 100. Thanks in advance for any input.

Does anyone have any experience with the Barnes TSX Bullet? My rifle groups very well with them, but I'm looking to find out how they perform on deer. Do they tear up a lot of meat? Do they provide good exit holes and expand well? I will be shooting them out of a 270 WSM. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

A comment titled: Capt Justin in response to a report titled: Climax of the 2015 summer!

Capt Justin will no doubt put you on the fish. I had a great trip with him as well this year. I had a couple of inexperienced guys in my group, and he was very patient with those guys. Geaux Fish Outfitters is definitely a first class operation. Solid boat, quality tackle and gear, solid captain.

A comment titled: Re: What size boat... in response to a report titled: What size boat...

It's not very hard to register a boat from AL, as long as you have a notorized bill of sale, current AL registration. Call the LA Dept of Revenue and they will walk you through it. Pretty easy. Definitely worth the trouble if it's the right boat for a good price.

I've been fishing out of Lionel's since I was a little kid. About 15 years ago, me and some friends stayed at a camp in Reggio and ran to Serigne's via boat the following morning. She saw us pull up and told us 'no launch no bait' before we were even tied up. They have had that rule for a long time. I remember for a stretch she was being pretty nice, to the point where you took notice. This was 5-7 years ago.

A comment titled: Startron Enzyme Fuel Treatment in response to a report titled: E 10 gasoline

I try not to use ethanol fuel, but when I have to I treat it with Startron Enzyme Fuel Treatment. It comes in a blue bottle. I've had very good success with this stuff in boats, lawnmowers, 4 wheelers, etc even with fuel sitting in them over the winter.

Everyone talks a mean game. Do something. We need to organize a trip in protest of this crap. Publicize it and don't hide it. We will be leaving from this marina on this date, etc. Go out as an armada and make them do something. Laws don't have to be followed. Everyone needs to nut up and quit being bullied by these morons.

A comment titled: All depends on what you consider federal in response to a report titled: 6 MILE OUT SNAPPER TICKET

JB, you will obviously follow any law no matter how ludicrous it is. The Feds consider it illegal to possess snapper inside of 10 miles. The State claims the water out to 10 miles as our own, but the Feds don't recognize that claim as legit. Apparently some folks are fed up with the fed's mismanagement of the fishery, and choose to abide by state law. The federal govt's stellar management track record should not only be openly questioned, but defiantly ignored as you see here. Good job.

A comment titled: Vanderkloot in response to a report titled: Do People still fish Lake Pontch. in the East

Used to like fishing over the levee as a kid. Always did good around vanderkloot st. Had a good hard bottom there. We would wade out and fish dead shrimp on the bottom and catch reds, drum, etc. When we would run out of bait, we would dig up clams off the bottom to use and crack them open. Used to catch a lot of fish all along there. The seawall at west end was another good spot. Wade fished there many times and caught trout on double rigs in the summer.

A comment titled: ok in response to a report titled: how do i get neighbors to get onboard with big buck management?

Let's see here. What he said about the dirt growing bigger deer is correct. Areas with good soil are going to have better deer, period. Better soil produces more and better browse, more hard mast, and in the end bigger antlers and higher fawn production. He's spot on.

I assume you showed him a picture of the 7 pt or told him the body weight. Most biologists are pretty good at looking at a deer on the hoof and estimating age.

As far the woodpecker, a pileated woodpecker is an actual bird that is commonly mistaken for the endangered ivory billed woodpecker. It's not a pill eating woodpecker.

As far as your lime trees go, lime is an additive that is used to adjust the ph level in soil. It looks like dusty dirt, and when used properly will develop a more productive food plot.

You're welcome.

A comment titled: 7mm08 in response to a report titled: Great year for a 6 year old

Can't go wrong with the 7mm08. It kicks more than the 243 but it's a better deer hunting round in my opinion. I have a few family members that have shot a 7mm08 for years and it performs great on deer. You can get the reduced recoil loads from Remington for it and the recoil is fine for kids. My son starting shooting his. 7mm08 as a 6 year old.

We had one years back on our property that we didn't shoot. From what I have read, you should shoot them. They are prone to hearing and spinal problems and low body weights.

A comment titled: Muck in response to a report titled: Cold feet

I wear Muck Woody Max and they work for me. Here are a couple of key things to keep your feet warm with them in my experience.
Never tuck your pants inside of them. Defeats the whole purpose of them being breathable.
Roll them down on the way to your stand and keep them rolled down until you cool off from the walk in. I usually make it through the entire hunt without rolling mine up, but if it's in the high 20s I'll usually roll them up after being in the stand for an hour or so.

A comment titled: B tips in response to a report titled: Ballistic or Partition?

We had a guest come make a hunt a few years ago. He shot a doe on an evening hunt and said she was quartering away and he thought he hit her a little far forward in the shoulder. Got on a thin blood trail, and found the deer after a couple hundred yards. We asked him what type of bullet he was shooting while we were trailing and he wasn't sure but had a round in his pocket. I remember it was a yellow tipped ballistic tip. When I found the deer, her bottom jaw was hanging on by a flap of skin. Looked at this guy and told him that he shot her in the face. Got the deer back to the camp and started skinning it, and found a very small hole in the hide at the base of the neck. The meat under that little hole was barely bruised. I wouldn't even call it bruised. The bullet had exploded upon impact and a fragment went up through the neck and exited at her lower jaw. If the deer would have been quartering to and that frag went to the gut, we'd have never found her. I was amazed that anything moving at 2800 fps could impact the meat at the point of impact so little. Total junk. Do yourself and keep shooting a hunting bullet.

A comment titled: Core lokt in response to a report titled: Ballistic or Partition?

I currently shoot a 270 wsm and shoot 130 grain core lokts. I really like them. I shot a 270 win for 18 years or so before buying my wsm, and always shot 150 grain nosler partitions out of my 270 win, so I have experience with both. They are both great bullets and perform in the same manner on game. I'd still shoot partitions today but my wsm didn't group them well when I tried them. If you like how a nosler partition performs, you'll be very happy with a core lokt. I don't think you'll be happy with a ballistic tip at all.

A comment titled: Water in response to a report titled: LA PUBLIC LANDS HUNTING BREAKING NEWS

Water, I know the guy you're talking about and that range master isn't out there anymore. They also no longer let him teach hunter's safety courses. I took my son to the course 8 or so years ago and he was the instructor. He started the class by screaming at everyone right off the bat. I got up and walked away, because if I had stayed I would have got up and knocked his teeth out. I really couldn't believe that other men were staying to have some stranger scream at them and their kids like that. The range masters nowadays and pretty easy going, but still safety conscious.

A comment titled: Depends on what you are looking for in response to a report titled: which one

I bought the 444 back before they made the 35 whelen legal for primitive season. I like my 444 and killed quite a few deer with it. It's a flatter round than the 45-70, but if I were in the market now I would buy the 35 whelen.

A comment titled: Unreal in response to a report titled: Wisconsin Bow Kill

These deer are nothing but 100% domesticated livestock. It's no different than shooting a cow off of someone's pasture. They are brought through a cattle chute before the season, handled by man and scored, and ear tagged according to score. It is beyond me how someone could feel good about shooting one of them. This is way beyond the debate of whether or not a 20,000 acre high fenced ranch in Texas with native wild deer is ethical.

I read this thread late last week. I've never personally had a problem using the thermacell. Used mine this weekend with my 7 year old, without giving much thought to having previously read this thread. He told me that he had a headache after it had been on for 30 minutes or so. I turned it off after he told me that, and he never complained again after I turned it off.

Adam, congrats to you on your 9 whole years of muddy boots. I hunted the Wax once 12 or 13 years ago. Thanks though.
