Recently was fishing in Calcasieu this past weekend and found a little canal that produced several fish. After about 30min, a boat came along and told us it was a private canal and we could not fish it. The guy was nice and was not rude about it but told us that if the owner caught us, that we would be in trouble. He told us the name of the 'club' that property belonged to, but my question is, how can you own a waterway that has NO POSTINGS of being private, gates or dams on it to keep the public out but tell them to leave as soon as they see you? I was told that as long as its free flowing water without a gate or some type of barrier, that it was a public canal just for use of waterway, not land. Any info on this would be appreciated!
We are leaving tomorrow for alittle 3 day trip to Calcasieu and hoping to atleast catch something. Mainly fish outta Dularge, but this year we decided to fish Calcasieu. Both times we struck out. Any advice would be appreciated!!!
This year is the first time I've fished Calcasieu because of the 'trophy trout' they are supposed to have there and I've scratched each time, not 1 trout! Was thinking of heading to the mouth of the ship channel at the gulf and trying it there since alot of the trout around dularge are in the same area. any idea on this or areas I could try?
JUST POSTING TO LET YOU AWARE, THE GUY SELLING THE WW2 GERMAN KNIVES, SCOPES, ETC IS A COMPLETE FAKE. HE SCAMMED ME LAST YEAR. Luytjens1939 IS HIS NAME. ITS THE SAME THINGS HE POSTED LAST YEAR
Went out 2 weeks ago for the 1st time out of Jugs and went to Raccoon Island and the Pickets. Water looked like Chocolate milk and was a total bust! Any suggestions on were we can possibly pick up some specks this weekend? Any help would be appreciated!!! Special thanks to Capt Travis Miller also, Went out of his way that weekend for a complete stranger! Stand up guy right there!
I recently started fishing out of the Dularge area and found my way to the Mechant. I launch at Falgoust so I have to pass over Racourcci but I stop at the mouth between that and the Mechant beccause of the depth, is there a channel or something that runs through there because Im unfamiliar with the area and I dont want to hit anything. A few hints to were some fish would be also greatly appreciated. I hear the fishing is great and see all the guides pics on the site, just having trouble finding the fish. Thanks!
Looking to take the boat out on our vacation to Gulf Shores this year, anybody have any good advice on marinas and coordinates to some rigs? Thanks

I'm looking to purchase a lot in Grand Isle and just put a camper on it for now and eventually build. Can you buy a lot and just leave a camper there for the summer or do they have restrictions on that? Thank you for your help!
Just seeing if anyone has Deer hunted the Grand Cote WMA area.
Im going on a bowfishing trip Aug 17th in Chauvin. The next day we are taking my 24' out for a day of fishing for red/specks and I was curious on some fishing spots/areas that anyone could share that would benefit me. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Me and a couple friends are looking to go on a good guided whitetail hunt. We've looked in Illinois and Kansas. Also found that Giles Island in MS was a good spot. Just seeing if anyone on here has been and what was your results. Just dont want to spend 4K+ and get ripped off. thanks in advance.
Just curious so I can learn alittle more about how you guys decide what areas to fish... Lets say a SE wind is blowing.... do you head to the SE area of a lake or marsh area to find the most protected waters? Mainly dead end canals? Whats your tactic on wind directions?
All about sharing info with fellow fisherman.... wont give away honeyholes...mainly dont have any but it would be good to get general areas that are catching... went twice this year and scratched both
That's a class act right there!
Just didnt think somebody can own open water. If its gated thats understandable, but there were no postings of any kind.
Yes I did not expect that much info and I really appreciate it. Usually when we fish out there its not worth the trip, Thanks alot capt, Ill def let you know of the results. Just bought those matrix shad too!
Thanks for the heads up on the Mechant, it had me alittle nervous but I seen the other boats cross it and never had the chance to follow them and figured Id run ground. On raccoon island, tried looking it up, where is that located? Would it be quicker launching at the Marina past Falgoust?
Wouldnt mind hearing some of these specifics, me and the wife goin next month. we usually go out during the day bc the bridge is to packed at night. email me if you dont mind: sonoma_8@yahoo.com
thanks again
Its on walnut lane, I do not know the elevation there yet, want to say its one of the higher parts of the island tho
Yea i hunted it last year a few times and it was very thick almost every place I've went. Just curious on how the deer are there and if any big ones have been seen/killed there recently.
I have (4) JL Audio M770's in my 24'. Sounds great! Always getting compliments on the clarity and sound. They are pricey, but you get what you pay for!
