As of now here is what everyone has reported.

76 Hunters total
196 deer killed
96 - Antlered
100 - Antlerless

That averages to 2.5 deer per hunter and the buck to doe ratio is almost 1:1.

I did not do an exact count but very few hunters shot the 6 deer limit.

I am curious as to how many deer were killed by just the readers of this web site. Louisiana deer only. Dont need all the details just numbers.

Myself - 3 antlered / 1 antlerless = Total 4 for year

Bought a rancher in 05. Love it, before that i was riding a 1982 110 3 wheeler. All the major brands made 3 wheelers in the 70's and 80's. When was the last time you seen a 3 wheeler still running that was not a honda.

Everyone has there own preference but here is what I have been shooting in my eclipse and optima with good results. I buy the 30 gr pyrodex and load 4 of them for 120 grains with a 295 grain powerbelt copper jacket. i have used the hollowpoint and the plastic tipped and have not noticed much differnece in grouping.

I have had a CVA eclipse for 5 years and loved everything about it except the hassle of removing the bolt and cleaning. I bought an Optima this year and having a break open is the way to go. The optimas are only about 50.00 more than the lower priced CVA's and you will be much happier when it is time to clean it. Which in case you dont know, a muzzleloader has to be cleaned after each use.

Try Louisiana Archery on HWY 28E in Pineville. They are the only place I have found that has the 30/30 roounds in stock. Academy and everywhere else is always sold out. I paid 21.99 for 30/30

Hunted Indian Bayou friday and saturday. Out of our group of five we killed 1 doe and 1 Button buck. A ten point was killed Saturday, looked like a nice deer. When we checked deer in Saturday evening there were 30 killed for the two days. Mosqitos were terrible.

I have the New England I bought for my kids and had same problem. I tried 3 different scopes and still could not get the gun to shoot anything consistant. I finally changed to a leupold mount and switched from 100 grain winchesters to 80 grain remingtons and that did the trick. The gun now shoots within 1 inch circle at 100 yards with a Bushnell Scope. Good Luck
