New To Sportsman Network?

I am new to the area and have been out trying to catch some fish am having no luck. We hired a guide and spent a pretty penny and came back with 11 fish. Are there any fish in the so call spec capitol of the world and if so what I am doing wrong? Should I fish a high tide or a low tide, am or pm, open water or marsh? So many questions. I grew up perch jerking and bass fishing around Blind River so this is all new and I'm struggling bad. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Fellow Sportsman:

The family and I are headed to Grand Isle this weekend for some fishing and relaxation and I was hoping someone can offer some tips for fishing there. I have only been once and the fishing wasn't great but that is largely in part to me not knowing what to do. We are bringing shrimp and some plastics to try. I'm not looking for spots to fish (unless you want to offer some up) but I would love some advice on fishing the area. My dad will also be there and he hasn't fished in many years so I want to make this a memorable trip for us all. we will also have lots of kids between the ages 16-8

I could use some advice for duck hunting Manchac WMA. I have been out for multiple hunts and so far have 2 birds in the freezer. IT has gotten so bad that on the last 2 hunts I didn't see anything remotely close enough to shoot at. Is anyone having luck out there? I've tried some potholes and I even went down to the open area of the prairie on the last hunt and still nothing. Should I try mid-day hunts or is this just the year of no birds?

To all Duck Hunters,,,,,,

I am new to duck hunting (not because of duck dynasty) and I'm gearing up to hunt the Manchac WMA and I would appreciate a few pointers. Im not looking for places to hunt etc but what I want is tips to not get myself killed or to disrupt my fellow hunters. I have been on a few hunts already but this year I will be making hunts completely on my own. I will have my son with me on some hunts. I know in Louisiana as well as in the south we pride ourselves on helping each other so I look forward to what you have to say. I wish you all the very best season and look forward to your post!!

Need a little help. I'm thinking of launching my boat at petes landing and trying to find some fish. I will be bass fishing, perch jerking, and setting a few jugs. Any tips? Ive been fishing up and down the amite from bayview and I'm tired of not having any luck. I just want to be able to enjoy myself and have a little time with out a ton of boat traffic

Thanks in advance for all the help

I can't tell you where the birds are but I can tell you that they are not in manchac!! Its been real slow out there but last weekend it actually got a little better. If you head out there- hunt the pot holes. the more shots are fired the more ducks start to move.

Ive heard Sherburne is hit and miss as with Delacroix. If you find any, let me know.

Good luck to you

Another cheap semi-auto you should consider is the Tri-Star. Tri-Star has been a big name in Europe for a while and are slowly making their way into the U.S. The reviews have been great on it and I watched a video where they actually loaded the gun then froze it solid. Once it was frozen and had a good sheet of ice on it they fired all rounds on it. After the video I bought one for my wife and it has not disappointed me one bit! We put it through hell in the marsh and it has been a great gun and hasn't given us any problems. Best of all it was only 349.00. I figured for that price it was a worth a shot and so far I'm glad I spent the money..

Congrats on the birds. They are beautiful. This is my first year hunting on my own and I have to pull in a bag close to that but I know mine is coming soon..

A comment titled: manchac in response to a report titled: F Y I Sherburne WMA

I was out in manchac last weekend for the youth hunt. The prairie sounded like a warzone but I got a report from a fellow hunter who said there wasn't a lot of birds. Mostly Coots. Game warden checked us and told us that so far only 1 boat had a limit. So I don't know how much that will change before Saturday but hopefully I can give a solid report early next week

This video brought a tear to my eye as well. My whole life I always fished and never hunted One day my son asks me if we can hunt and we have been doing it ever since. We hunt deer and lately we have been started Duck hunting. I said of all that to say this, ' this video is what is all about!!' to see the excitement in their eyes make every struggle worth it!! This is Gods gift to us parents and it should never be taken for granted. Thank you so much for posting this video it has truly made my day and has me totally pumped up for this season!!!

Red- I have never hunted any WMA before. I have been on guided hunts in Hackberry.

I went this weekend and found a few spots that are away from the prairie and are very hard to get to so those are the areas I'm planning to hunt. Thanks so much for all of the help and I am looking forward to posting some successful reports during the season
