These are some good White Perch I caught at the Diversion Canal on Friday, February 15th. The biggest one was about 2.5lbs. All caught on jigs.
It is the Catahoula Lake Diversion Canal.
Is the place you are going in Avoyelles private or public. I would love to go catch some but will be out of town for a military school for the month of March. Would love to know where it is if it is public. Thanks in advance.
I like this photo but think that the Redfish photo is awesome.
I normally pop it every couple of seconds to make the jig hop. This is usually when I get most of my bites. I also prefer a tube jig. Not saying its better than a curl tail it's just what I prefer. If the pond has some structure try fishing along the outside edges of it. Hope this helps.
I would suggest balck and chartreuse with either a 1/32 or 1/16 chartreuse jig head. I have had great success on these pretty much any place I fish for them.
I can't wait until I can take my little guy with me deer hunting. I took him on his first duck hunt last season and he had a blast. I also got the joy of being in the box stand when my 14 year old daugther killed her first deer. It's even better than killing one yourself. Great buck and it will make a great mount and a memory for a lifetime. Great job.
I watched and episode on the Oudoor Channel that covered a deer with a poor rack. The report was that something had happened to the deer during rack growth that caused it to be deformed. They decided to wait till the following season to harvest the deer and it turned out that the following season it was a great looking 10 point. The reason they were able to tell it was the same deer is because it had a split in one of it's ears. The show was just to inform people that it's not always genetics that causes that. If it were me and you have other bucks you are targeting already I'd not use a tag on him this year and just see what he looks like next season. That's just my opinion.
I actually know a kid that fishes for LSU and they usually use their parents boats. They do several fund raising events to cover all other expenses. I feel that it is a great program and I think the Univesity should help fund it the way it does with other sports.
