I have few kids that keep asking to go fishing but cant fit them in the boat. I was wondering if anyone knows of anyspot where we can get some action on the bank. Catfishing is perfect but perch will work. We live in new orleans but dont mind driving. Thanks in advance.
My boat is sick and waiting to see the dr. I havent been fishing and got an itch I really need to scratch. Me and a friend are thinking of taking a ride to gi to fish elmer island but dont know much bout it. If anyone has advice or knows if the fish are there please help. Its a long ride and a longer trip back with an empty ice chest. Thanks in advace and if you have any other suggestion of where to go please share.
Yesterday I launched at seabrook in lake p and it look like it was opened. Still had the construction going on but had alot of water flowing through. As I passed at dark the water was still moving. Does anyone know if they opened it up now?
Im looking advice on catfishing in the manchac/rudock area. Im looking to fish at night in the pass. Dont know much about it and was hoping someone could give me advice. I mostly fish salt water but love to catch nice fresh water cats. Ive tried in the past with no luck but refuse to give up. Im gonna be in a boat with no depth finder and was wondering what end of the pass is better. Lake p or lake maurepas end. Any kind of advice will be helpfull and appreciated.
Oh yea thats a nice one. Now im think bout putting my rain coat on and head out. Congrats.
I got a 16 ft and in the lake I go with winds 10 mph or less only. That short ride from the dock can get rough.
I think its a bobcat. The pic color throws me off a little but it has a short tail like a bobcat.
I been hearing about all this action under the twin span but my schedule wont allow me to make any morning trip. This weekend all I can make is an evening. Are this fish biting in the evenings too?
I passed by this weekend and seen people fishing of the bridge and rocks. You can still fish the bridge. Also the water is flowing threw now. Good luck.
Try to let the gar take the bait for at least 30 sec before u set the hook. They can be hard to hook and sometimes swim with the bait before they swollow it enough to set the hook. Good luck.
I go from time to time. I like to go n the quiet canals off the main canal in the ruddock area and fish the edges of cover with a small spinner to catch small bass and gogle eye. Or fish the cover w a worm under a cork and catch alot of perch and sometimes little catfish.
Me and my friends went last night in the ruddock area. We caught 18. Seen more froggers then frogs but we did ok. If I had a mudboat would have done alot better.
I went to manchac monday. Tide was moving good and looked to be a nice day. Tried the spots and tips yall gave me and caught one small cat and a hell of a tan. But I did see guys around me catching nice ones every now and then so I know they were there just wasnt my day. But had a good time anyway and cant wait to go again. But during the week I decided to go to the mississippi river by my house one afternoon and with in 30 min caught a nice 20 pound cat on hot dogs. Found out one thing though, the big cats dont taste as good as the smaller ones. Thanks to everyone for the help.
I have fished the ponds in the past. We used to bring a little flat boat and troll motor. Used to fish for bass and even caught a small striped bass. Or what looked like a striped bass.
That makes sense. Deff gonna try again. Thinking bout either fishing there or blind river tomorrow. Ill have to check the tide. Great advice. When I get em ill post it. Thanks again
I thought about that but I read some where that tide direction didnt matter. lol I guess they were wrong. I went out to relax and have a good time. I heard the crabs are what they like. Ill spend an extra $10 on bait if its gonna make or break my trip. Thank for the advice ill give it another try.
I went to manchac pass friday night , sun down till sun up, search for some nice cats. Tide was moving in hard. Was hard to keep the bait on the bottom. Went to the slu camp ,a few bends, and under the brigde. Only managed to catch some nice sailor cats on softshell crab and cut mullet. Not what I was hoping for. Was looking for fresh water cats. Any advice on what I did wrong or where to go? Im looking for some nice fresh water cats. Thanks.
I tried des allmonds once with no luck but maybe it was bad time or I was doing it wrong. Fished by the train tracks, didnt travel to far bc I dont know the area at all and that was the only place I heard about.
Yea catfishing was how I got started. Brings back great memories. Just never caught any big ones or too many. But still love to sit back n watch my lines. How far off the bank do you fish and is the slu camp easy to identify at night? What about the tide and does time matter? Thanks for the input, love to fish but still have alot to learn.
How much did that weigh?
Thats good to know. Probly save some hunters from long sleepless night wonder what happened to that buck that they couldnt find. I hear those stories alot. Can yall track on wmas too ?
