Just a small boat with a 2013 25 4 stroke. Very quite when idling but seems a little louder than what I expected when giving it the gas, a little better at top speeds. I thought it would be quiter
kinda has a rough sound when getting up. Maybe its that I'm sitting by the motor? You couldn't hear my 150 merc on a 21 ft bay.
Anybody have any experience with this motor?
Thanks in advance.

Has anybody been or heard any reports from Causweay or powerlines? Looking to go Tuesday, weather looks very favorable, northernly 5knts, launch at Mandeville.
Also, found a nice site called weather underground, has marine forecast and tidal info for all areas of lake area as well as other regions.

Friday 10/24. Me and my 17 yr old son caught trout in Decade and Menchant, worked the birds in Menchant caught a lot of fish but had to weed through them for keepers, ended up with a box of specks and white trout. Decade and Menchant had the prettiest water.

Looking for some advice.
Was wanting to hit the Causeway Wed or Thurs, looks to be not much tide, can you catch fish at the bridge with little or no movement?
Thanks in advance.

Took a trip out to the lake Fri 6/21, 1st time in a couple of years, went in the blind being the reports were slim. Put in at madiosonville headed for the 4 mile hump area to start, plastics only. Ive had success on the lake before and although not a pro know how to poke around and try to find were the fish are and what they want. Little success, one nice trout and a very nice red, trying different spots to the 12 mile hump. One boat with live shrimp had a few reds, didn't see anybody really doing anything? Is the Causeway just not producing right now?

Right north of red light at Pupera lumber co. on Hwy 61 there's a spot in front of the trailer park where you can park and launch...its bayou Francois, head south away from town.

Nice job Callan! Were those fish released to that pond, or do they get that big in ponds? Either way 'you da Man'.

Nice report Capt and thanks for the added info on conditions and technique. I caught the Kevin Ford show a few Thurs ago on radio ( which I really like ) and I thought you gave a lot of usefull information. It seems most the guides are putting more info in there reports. Thanks

Bass, you use no bait at all I take it? Iv'e done away with my feeders and just broadcast a little corn and put out bran and would like to limit that. But with everybody doing it you feel like you have to?

Impressive display there Bass. I've been using a 30 06 for a while now and really like the energy it delivers (just get it close). But I hunt wooded edge of swamp, some open field maybe 100 yds at best. I guess I like the fact of usng a scope and placing clean shots. But maybe I could benifit from using a shotgun expessially when stalking or walking to and from, being I'm mostly in wooded/swamp?

Your right Bassin, went yesterday with what I thought was ideal conditions, missed a few only caught one trout no reds but didn't target them. Lot of boats but the ones I talked to had only a few fish. If there scattered we didn't move enough, fished the TA areas then moved on. IDK, my guess is the low tide was at around 7am and then the wind shifted out of the west as forecasted and was bucking the tide coming back in while we where there? Evening bite should have been better. I'm not an expert there but have had some good trips and like to give it a shot a couple of times when they move in, but, a busted trip.

A comment titled: in response to a report titled: New Boat…need opinions

Had a couple express bass boats and loved them for running the bayous and marshes. The 17 ft with a 90 is one of funnest lil boats to run in tight places and gets up on plane in a flash. The problem with them and the bay style is they sit so high up front the wind will want to push them around more so you have to be pretty proficiant on the trolling motor. General chops and waves you'll be ok, a little rougher than glass, but when lake P and the bigger bodies get up you'll be better off in 22 to 24 ft glass.

The launch at Freds in Port Vincent is being redone but will be top notch when done. A few miles north of freds on hwy 42 is big Johns, cross the amite river to French Settlement is Hilltop Inn then Canal bank club, go towards St. Amant on stringer bridge rd is a launch, take hwy 22 towards Sorrento at Wharf bar theres a launch, Good Luck !
