I'm new to duck hunting, and I'm going to be hunting flooded timber. I'm just wondering what kind of ducks to expect, and if there are any tips yall think would be helpful. I've already got some woody decoys and a pirogue if that helps any.

Today was a very memorable day in the woods. While inspecting some fresh deer tracks on a ridge that had been flooded by the high water i caught sight of what i thought was a yote then i realized it was a deer. Not knowing the relative size since it was a good distance away i decided to go inspect . After being busted due to a quick wind swirl I thought it was all over until what do i see curled up next to a tree but a fawn that couldnt have been more than a week old! It was one of the coolest things ive ever experienced in the outdoors ,and i thought i'd share it with everyone. enjoy!

Wanting to make a trip in the next week but havent fished the lake since last summer . I know the water is high , but im goin to give it a shot. Anyone know if the bass or bream are on? i dont want your spots .. just want to know if they are biting.

May 11, 2008 at 2:32pm

I need some opinions as to whats the best bait for goggle eyes. I love catchin those little suckers

wich live baits are best.

April 20, 2008 at 5:31pm

The water in the bayous and canals near my house are overflowing with water ...literally .. anybody know if it would be a good idea to try and catch some bream in the the deeper flooded areas .. or am I wasting my time?

March 18, 2008 at 4:22pm

How many of yall out there think that it would be some fun to bait in a few big racoons with some leftover rice bran or corn. Im planning on tryin my luke with my bow. If now ive got a .22 that will do the trick.

March 09, 2008 at 3:03pm

I need some tried and true bowhunters help on this one guys. I got a friend and his bow only goes up tp 50 lbs. Which broadhead yall think would fly best. 3 1/2 in vanes if that helps for anything.

January 20, 2008 at 8:42pm

Do any of yall think that its close to possible to make your own duck hole. there is a break in some cypress near my house and its has patches of small willows that could be easily cut. If i cleared it .. do yall think any ducks would come in? If so how long do yall think it would take?
and yes it has plenty enough water

October 22, 2007 at 4:51pm

Took a trip today and did good exept for the huge number of throwbacks. The trout were there but the wind and throwback numbers put us in a bind. We picked up a few reds along the way , but only finished with 18 specks and 4 reds.We tried maybe next time. Until then goodluck and be safe.

Not to mention the amount of button bucks or young bucks ground checked at dark for does. Come on guys. I know we see eye to eye on that.

I hunt the swamp too. It's always been. The area I hunt used to be a big dog hunting area until last season. I mean big. Nothing wrong with dogs, it's just not ideal for deer numbers. Everyone loves hunting and shooting deer. My area needs some rebound time and when there were doe days, we saw more deer. Plain and simple. Lets not get too fired up.

A comment titled: Doe Days in response to a report titled: Hunting season changes in the wind

The move to designated either sex days has needed to come back for a while now. Being able to kill does all season long has put a hurt on the area population down in area 6. This could bring some stability to the herd.

Since we're all talking about loctations and stuff, I live around pierre part and never hunted teal before. For those of you who have fished Lake Verret and that area, how much of a chance do yall think I stand of finding teal in that area when the season comes.

I went the other day with my buddy to try and catch a few perch but there wasn't to much going on. I'll be getting my boat in a few days and once I do I'll have some more info, but from what I hear, they have been catching a few on the lake. Probably on crickets and worms.
