Anyone know if South Farms has been open/accesible for crawfishing? The WLF handbook states that it opens Mar 15 in Sherburne but I know in the past sometimes they were closed due to high water. Just seeing if anyone has any helpful info. Thanks!
Anyone do any Kayak fishing in PAC lately? May take my son tomorrow and looking for a report. Thanks!

I'm looking to take my son for his 8th grade graduation on a Speck/Red charter. This would be mid to late May. I did this for my older son a couple years ago and we went to Venice. Venice is so dependent on what's going on with the River and typically in May we're dealing with a really high river. We weren't too happy with that trip so I'm looking for options that would be good for speck/red fishing that time of year. Any recommendations would be great! Thanks!
Looking to take my two boys on a goose hunt. Any recommendations for a guide would be appreciated! Thanks!
Thinking of making a trip to Elmerââ¬â¢s on Monday with my boys. Looks like Tide and winds may cooperate that day. Any thoughts, tips, recent experience helps! Plan on throwing matrix shad but will get live bait to help if needed. Thx in advance for any tips! Bourge
Anyone do any side of LA 1 fishing btw Fourchon and GI lately? I want to take my boys maybe Friday before they go back to school and looking for any tips or reports that may help us. Thanks!
Whatââ¬â¢s the best conditions for fishing the surf in Grand Isle/Elmerââ¬â¢s Island when considering wind direction, tide, solunar tables, etc? If you canââ¬â¢t get all three right at the same time, which is very rare, whatââ¬â¢s most important to you?
Heading to the Island June 7-10 for a long weekend with the family. Just getting some help or advice about the surf fishing. I know a lot depends on wind, tide, water clarity, but figured this time of year it should be decent. Also, crabbing should be pretty good as well I'm guessing. Any info would help. Thanks!
What's the deal with crawfishing at South Farm? Last post I remember was that it was closed. That was a few weeks or month or so ago. Is it open and how's the water level? Anybody been and catching any crawfish? The boys are done with school next week and was thinking of taking them. Thanks for any help!
I live on Claycut Bayou in Baton Rouge which flows into the Amite. We also have a small neighborhood pond. For years, we would catch a good number of sac a lait including some really nice ones this time of year. Well, our neighborhood and the pond flooded in the Great flood of 2016, resulting in the neighborhood pond and Claycut bayou as one for a couple days. I haven't caught but maybe 5 sac a lait since! Could the flood have this negative of an effect on the fishing. Thoughts? Thanks!
Has anyone hunted South Farm lately for the Tuesday/Thursday lottery? If so, how have the crowds been showing up? Iââ¬â¢ve never done it and wondering if my chances of being drawn and if itââ¬â¢s worth it. Would like to take my son and Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
Heading to the Island to celebrate my sister's 50th this coming weekend. Staying in a camp on the beach. Any reports on if the specks are still there spawning or already moved in? Any reds being caught in the surf? Any crabs still there? Just looking for some helpful info. Thanks!
I am planning a birthday weekend for my sister late September early October to Grand Isle. Is the surf fishing and or crabbing any good at this time. I'm thinking crabbing may still be okay but fishing not so much. Any help would be appreciated!
Going to take my boys crabbing next week before school starts up. Thinking of either running to Rockefeller (Price Lake Road) or Elmer's Island. Anybody hit either one of those areas lately? Any advice/tips? Thanks!
Making a trip with Ryan Lambert's Cajun Fishing Adventures next Friday with my son. Looks like the weather should cooperate with a cool front coming through early next week. Forecast for Friday is 80deg winds S 5-10. Never really understood the 'what winds are best' theories. Anyone make a trip done there recently and how'd y'all do? Looking forward to a good time!
Anyone been to South Farms recently? I usually take my boys once a year and haven't had a chance to yet. I did read a little less than a month ago that there was very little water and crawfish were really small. I'm guessing the recent rains had to have helped with the lack of water. Any advice. Thanks!
Looking to possibly make a weekday guided hunt before the season ends. This week if West or Coastal, and/or this or next week if East. Any suggestions would be great. I live in BR and closer to here would be preferable but not necessary.
Thinking of taking my two boys to do some crabbing on Price Lake Rd in Rockefeller this week. Any tips or reports from there? Also, I see where people catch shrimp there. Is this possible without a boat? Like using a cast net? Thanks for any help!
Was supposed to go today but had a conflict. Leaving early to go tomorrow.
28-3. I see where you just got back from Elmer's. I;m heading there either this evening or early tomorrow morning. How did you do? Just looking to see what I should expect. I know you don't really know until you get there but just wondering. Crabs and fish.
I know typically some type of light N wind is best for grand isle surf fishing but thatââ¬â¢s not very common this time of year. So whatââ¬â¢s the next best option for wind conditions?
How was the crabbing?
Thx!
Been out lately? I know the season is coming to a close, but figured maybe with the recent rains, it's helped with some fresh water/oxygen for the mudbugs.
When does the surf usually turn on. Making a family trip there June 7-10 for a long weekend. We have a camp right on the beach rented and plan to do some crabbing and surf fishing.
Iââ¬â¢m assuming thatââ¬â¢s 3 people per group. So your chances are better if you go with 3 people to put names in? Sorry for the ignorance. Never done it before and just learning.
Thx Wascom. How many do they typically draw?
Thanks Flondergal. That's what I'm wondering is if the surf fishing will be any good. I know typical the beaches are good midsummer but wasn't sure of late Sept early Oct
Gonna try Price Lake Rd in Rockefeller Wednesday. Little easier for my boys. Elmers is fun and sounds like some good reports but a little more difficult for the boys. I'll give my report once I return! Thanks!
Thanks. I have all the proper licenses and will check with authorities as you recommend. However, is there a specific area other than Price Lake Rd, where we crab, to do the shrimping? And are you able to catch them with a cast net? I don't have a boat. Thanks!
This is disappointing to here. I don't own a boat and like to take my two boys from time to time during their summer break. Was thinking of making one soon. Don't think I'll be heading to Elmer's after reading this. Any other suggestions on where I can take them and possibly catch a few fish?
Also, is beef melt pretty much my best option for bait? Sorry for all the questions. Just want to be prepared and show a good time to my boys!
This is great. Thanks! Will I be okay with the store bought traps as long as I have waders or hip boots to cross the ditch? I may also have a couple of pillow traps to set out for all morning.
504225BOY...Those are nice! Did you catch those at South Farms? And yes. I will be going Saturday. Would arriving around 6:30 be early enough?
Where on the levee do u go Caronna?
Didn't think of that. Thanks for the heads up Goggleye
Jls-May try again soon just before and after high tide. Most of what we caught with line and net technique yesterday from side of road were very small. Is that just the case here all the time or just happened that way yesterday? Thx again!
Ended up not going. Was real windy and just didnââ¬â¢t work out. If you get some good cold weather, should be pretty good.
