New To Sportsman Network?

Can anybody point me in the right direction for transom repair in the Covington/Mandeville area? I need some transom welding done to get me through the upcoming season before I can afford a new boat.
I have a little 14ft that has a crack in it on top.

Any help is appreciated.

I have an older Vanguard Go-devil that needs the wiring harness replaced. Most wires have been cut so I have no idea where the wires go. If you have an older long tail could you please email me a photo showing your wires going to the starter and solenoid?

Mine has 5 wires. white, black, yellow and 2 red.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I was obviously NOT thinking when I went to Walmart today and it was packed, but nonetheless I needed some items and decided while there to go ahead and get my hip recertification. After the questions, she said do you want your duck stamp too? I was unaware they sold them as I always went to the post office. She said effective yesterday it is printed on the hip certification and is NOT an actual stamp, though she said you could buy them still at the p.o. if wanted. I went ahead and did it electronically and all it shows is I paid for a duck stamp. Had to sign the hip/stamp combo that printed out. Seemed easy. Had no idea Wildlife was going this route.

The A&E Network announced Friday it would resume filming “Duck Dynasty” with Phil Robertson and the rest of his family next spring.

Robertson had been indefinitely suspended by the network for comments he made about homosexuality in an interview with GQ Magazine.

In a statement released late Friday afternoon, A&E said, “While Phil's comments made in the interview reflect his personal views based on his own beliefs, and his own personal journey, he and his family have publicly stated they regret the 'coarse language' he used and the misinterpretation of his core beliefs based only on the article. He also made it clear he would 'never incite or encourage hate.'

The network added that “Duck Dynasty is not a show about one man's views. It resonates with a large audience because it is a show about family, a family that America has come to love. As you might have seen in many episodes, they come together to reflect and pray for unity, tolerance and forgiveness. These are three values that we at A&E Networks also feel strongly about.

“So after discussions with the Robertson family, as well as consulting with numerous advocacy groups, A&E has decided to resume filming Duck Dynasty later this spring with the entire Robertson family.”

I sure miss watching the Great Outdoors on WAFB ch 9 in Baton Rouge with Bob Scearce 'The Ole Beachcomber'. He covered all types hunting and fishing. I learned so much from that show.

I also miss Steinbergs on St Philip st in downtown BR on the river. As a kid walking in that store with all the mounts, every type hunting supply you could ever imagine and people that really helped and cared, was amazing.

I sure wish both were still around today. Time passes too quick.
Safe hunting and fishing to all, remember to enjoy it and pass it along.

Since suppressors for rifles are becoming more popular because of reduced decibels and recoil, I wanted to find out WHY Louisiana only allows them to be used for nuisance animals?
Currently, more than half of the states allow hunters to use suppressors while hunting. There are numerous benefits to hunting with suppressed firearms, including:

Increased use of suppressors will help to eliminate noise complaints that are frequently an excuse to close hunting lands throughout the country. This will protect hunting areas well into the future.
Using a suppressor while hunting will reduce recoil and muzzle rise to help increase the accuracy of hunters. More accurate shooting in the field means fewer wounded and lost animals--a good thing for hunters and wildlife.
Suppressors reduce the muzzle report to hearing safe levels, reducing the chance that the hunter or anyone with the hunter will suffer permanent hearing loss if they fail to use hearing protection.

Mississippi allows hunting of Deer with them, I wonder what is taking our Sportsman's Paradise so long to get on board with this.....????

A comment titled: Thank you for posting in response to a report titled: New way to get 2014 Duck stamp, idiot

I just looked at the Hip/stamp and it says valid for 45 days from date of issue. She said nothing of being mailed a duck stamp.

Retail vendors will be able to process the transaction for hunters. An electronic stamp, or e-Stamp, will be issued at the time of purchase, and a paper duck stamp will be sent through the mail. Hunters can use their e-Stamps immediately and for 45 days following purchase. After 45 days, they must carry the paper duck stamp. The e-Stamp will have a $2.50 convenience fee for handling and mailing in addition to the $15 purchase price.

A comment titled: ouch in response to a report titled: DEER HOOF

Deer can sometimes grow hooves that are much longer than normal. Long hooves in deer is not common because I’ve seen reports from many different places over the years, but it’s not something most hunters will see in the field. Just this week I received an email that contained photos of a white-tailed doe than had long hooves (it was actually just her front left hoof and back right hoof). This condidtion is referred to as foundering and I believe the term comes from the word “floundering” because under extreme conditions the animal appears to be floundering around as it walks. From reviewing the literature, there appears to be three main reasons for long hoof growth in deer, but all are related to diet.

A deer that exhibits foundering is taking in way too many carbohydrates. Either this is a problem directly related to the forage that the animal is eating or it has to do with the way the deer is processing its food. More often than not, it has to do with what the deer is eating. A diet high in corn or protein pellets contributes to foundering. Corn, of course, is primarily carbohydrates.

Hoof tissue is very similar to antler tissue. If you are feeding protein to grow larger bodied deer and larger antlers then you are also feeding to grow deer with longer hooves. Foundering is almost always the result of a deer consuming too many carbohydrates in the diet too fast. The result is a buildup of acid in the rumen, which kills the bacteria that digest carbohydrates. This action then results in an increasing pH in the blood that can hurt or possibly even kill the deer from acidosis.

White-tailed deer than have foundered long hooves will often walk on the backs of their hooves because the acid buildup agitates the growth plate in their hooves. As a result of the deer attempting to ease the pain, the hooves grow longer than normal because the hooves do not have proper contact with the ground. Without proper contact, the hooves do not wear down. This problem can be exacerbated on ”soft” soils because hoof wear is already decreased in these areas.

After I use the Star Brite cleaner and make sure all is clean and dry, I use their Premium marine wax with PTEF (telfon). Yes, it is a lot of work to crawl around and then it it all off, but so far I am right over a year without having to do anything except hose boat down when I get home with the water hose.

I got it down to 2. I do appreciate all the input. I had to put my yellow Lab down in April due to cancer and it was the worst thing I have ever had to do. I cannot tell you how bad it hurt me. Still does.
To all duck dog owners, heck all hunting dog owners, good luck this season, be safe and enjoy those dogs.

Thanks, just emailed Bear C. Emailed the other 3, only 1 reply (Ace). Still waiting on ballpark price. I just want a good hunting dog and inside pet. It is all about hunting for me.
Want my dog treated right and safe while training. As far as Brit vs American, I honestly don't care. Health and pedigree I do care about. Thank you VERY much for the replies I have received. I do appreciate it.
