Does anyone know of a good small outboard mechanic in Mandeville. I hope Mandevilleian sees this because I know he know someone over here

October 10, 2018 at 6:58pm

I am looking to hunt this area this year and would like to know how firm the ground is around the ponds. I have fished all over the Biloxi Marsh but never got out the boat. What I am looking to do is set decoys from the boat then hide it a hundred or so yards up the bank and walk to where I would like to hunt and sit in the grass. Any help would be great just looking to see if this is doable. I will be hunting from a 12 foot flat boat with a 15 horsepower outboard.

Would anyone like to swap an inshore fishing trip for a flooded timber waterfowl hunt. I will take you inshore fishing for speckled trout or redfish.

The reds are thick in little Lake. They seem to like chatterbaits with purple and white tail.

Has anyone ever hunted at russell sage wma. I am thinking about making a trip to try and get a few mallards. How is the hunting and is it really crowded.

I would like to make a timber hunt for mallards but do not know where to start. I will trade someone a fishing trip out of Grand Isle in the summer. I have a 22 foot bay boat we catch a lot of mangrove snapper, trout, reds and some cobia.

Where would be the best place to make a flooded timber hunt for a first time timber hunt. I have a pirouge and a 12' flat boat with a trolling motor.

Did anyone hunt this area for teal if so how did you do and how is the area. I have never hunted this area and am going to try for big duck season with my pirogue from hwy 51. Is the marsh solid or will I sink if I try to get out of the pirogue.

I have never fished the Timbalier area and was wondering where the submerged rocks are located so I do not run up on them. Also are there any other under water obstructions that I should be aware of if so where are these located.

Thanks for any info

LDWF computers are having problems do not wait till the last minute to get your new license it may take 20 min. to get a license. Also they have not started raising the cost yet so get it before they do.

I bought a new boat a few months ago and am looking at putting a wrap on it. I was just wondering if anyone has had there boat wrapped and how long did it last. I was told that I would have to replace it every 5 years is there any truth to this. Any input would be great as it is not cheap to wrap a boat and will not be doing it if it only last 5 years. Thanks

Better than rubber duckies but big branch has been on decline for a long time now. If you intend to start a new hunter duck hunting I would hope you would search for other places to get them started.

I went to Big Branch a few weeks ago lots of grass in the ponds didn't seem any ducks. Some areas are really choked up with hyacinth

I met you a few times at Big Branch. I hunt off of Cross Road South of you near the pipeline. I moved to Mandeville 8 months ago.

I'm going to scout this weekend and hopefully find some birds. I scouted Pearl River Saturday for 2 hours and only saw about a dozen ducks. I will also be going to scout Big Branch. I checked my cameras and put out fresh corn at my spot in Little Creek Hunting Club this Sunday. Have a few deer on camera and food plot looks nice.

I completely understand. Duck hunter I am definitely going and we'll find out the conditions I was just trying to get an idea of what I might be up against come hunting season since the water levels won't be the same as they are now

I don't mind push polling my small flat boat it's about the same as push polling my pirogue. If it would be necessary I have a 55 lb thrust trolling motor that I could use once it gets too shallow for the outboard

My pawpaw pirogue this is the best ever. I think I just need my carburetor rebuilt because the engine ran for 15 minutes then died but will start and die again.

Thank you I will look them up and give them a call tomorrow. I have a pawpaw pirogue I bought it a few years ago new from an older gentleman . It was impressive to see that they were made in the garage behind his house

Yeah I suspected the ground would be really soft. I do have a small pop-up blind that I can hunt out of. The good thing about a small flat boat is I can push pull it almost like a pirogue. I really appreciate your response and I hope the season is good

What type of hunting is it at Tensas flooded timber or lake hunting and do you need a boat or will a pirouge and waders get the job done. I would really like to try a timber hunt one day. I was looking a Dewey Wills it appears to be a nice place to timber hunt.
