Along the highways I sometimes see what looks like a borrow pit for when they built the overpasses & such. These are always near the highway and in a corner of a cane field. Are these fishable - as in holding fish and permitable to use ? I am especially wondering about a few around Franklin. I see people fishing sometimes so they must be usable.
Thanks for any help, a newbie to Louisiana, Steve in so la
I see a 17 ft Duracraft for sale online. Anyone have any comments on this make ? Thanks, Steve in so la
I looked at a new Weldcraft 16 ft jon boat, semi V. It has a 60 hp motor - is this enough to push it decently on rivers & small lakes ? Weighs about 650 as is. They are asking 16,000 bux - any suggestions for other boats that are similar ?
Thanks to all, Steve in so la
The one reply I just got for 'advice on buying a boat' was removed. Did I do something wrong or am I not reading & replying correctly ? I wanted to thank the poster for his comments. Thanks, Steve in so la
Just moved here from Arizona - bought a house now ready for a boat. I am looking for a used 16-18 ft alum boat with walk through windshield style for fresh water fishing. So far I have not found any for sale. Looked here on the forum first , then online, newspapers, etc. Any advice on how to find some for sale in so La?
Thanks to all, Steve in so la
is still better than rusting out ! Steve
I do like a wide platform to stand & fish from. Some things to consider - thanks ! Steve
I will probably be the only one in the boat for the most time so don't need a lot of space. Plus a smaller boat is easier to load & unload for one guy. Steve
A man only gets 2-3 boats in general - make the most of it. I'm 70 & this will be my last boat so I want just what I want :) Steve

thanks Troy. What do they call this type of boat ? Steve
& it's on to fiberglass for me :) That much $$ and still needing a motor - I'm not that rich. Thanks for all the help - I'll scour the net for other than the hanko specials.
Going to Houma tomorrow - any boat dealers you know of that are good to visit ? steve in so la
I'm seeing them around town & on the water. It's all aluminum, wind shield mid way or so. The Hanko company makes a lot of them - very expensive. Maybe I need to look at fiberglass as you mentioned. steve
Either find someone who's already hooked up there to ask or go ahead and set up and see who turns up to answer your question. Steve in so la
