New To Sportsman Network?

Good evening all,
I'm in the market for a kayak primarily for fishing. In doing some research, I stumbled upon people duck hunting from a kayak. Blew my mind away. Of course, the itch increased more after reading about hunting from a yak. Anyway, does anyone have any experience in doing this? Where do you typically go (I assume its a lot of WMA's)? Do you make a blind for it? Overall thoughts?Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

I was told that there was no such thing as a stupid question. With that said, I'm a beginner angler and want to learn more. I have had some success with live shrimp but I have no idea how to fish with soft plastics. I've read a lot about matrix shad but I haven't had any luck. Probably operator malfunction. How do you fish with soft plastics? Poppin cork? Tight line? I'm only able to bank fish( any locations aside from hwy 1 would be greatly appreciated). thanks is in advance.

I have a 1989 19' grandecker boat with a 180hp inboard/outboard engine. It has ran in 2 yrs. I'm trying to get it water ready but having a hard time finding someone who services this motor. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Eating at local restaurants and driving from New Orleans to Baton Rouge has caused a HUGE itch for fishing. My girlfriend and I plan on going within the next few weeks but have no clue as to where I go. We always see people fishing off of the pier in Norco under the Bonnet Carre spillway. Is this a good spot? Any other spots? Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate everyone's input. After reading these comments, the itch has gotten more. So much that my wife is tired of hearing me talk about it. I was thinking about possibly purchasing a yak at the sportsman outdoor expo in march. Do they typically have deals?

Thanks for the overwhelming assistance. When I tried with soft plastics on a jighead, it seemed like I always got stuck on the bottom and lost both bait and jighead ( I thought I was doing something wrong and went back to live shrimp). Apparently, that's very common. Hopefully the weather will hold up and I can get out and try some more. Thanks everyone

Preciate the advice. We don't have a boat so we're trying to make the best of the situation. We are open to any/all suggestions
