I was really hoping this spring would follow the winter bite, which was (IS) absolutely epic! This lump season that just passed was the best in many years! (And it's still kind of going on!!) Recently the temperature outside has been better than Good. On the past few trips, going inshore/offshore fishing the fish have been.....

let's just say more then cooperative!! No matter what happens with the rest of the year, this year has already been a great year! I'm really hoping that the variety and plentifulness of all these fish stay like this for years to come! If so it will make every day at work not just eventful, but very enjoyable for anyone who was there to experience it with

This year is definitely our year!! We have multiple brand-new inshore and offshore vessels (BOATS) and Captains to take you and your crew on a fishing trip that I can assure you will never forget! Check through our website/Facebook for photos of our fleet, and ofcourse all the awesome species of fish.

From early December thru now, Offshore fishing trips, (especially the lumps) have been absolutely phenomenal! Every trip this year will be completely rememberable by me! So I'm certain the customers will definitely never ever forget the day they have spent with us, but the biggest thing on my mind at all times is getting out and getting back in safely. So it is definitely a bonus, that almost all trips this year have produced numerous giant yellow fins, and other large fish species. In the past few months we have broken 1 state record (African pompano) and the largest tuna to hit Venice Marina in over 2 years 215.6lbs! For the 1st time in my life I finally got lucky! Thank God she swam by an ate our chunk, lord knows that day there were literally hundreds of hooks in the water. Also the day-time sword bite has been crazy! On the majority of the trips we have dropped, People have been able to get their hands on a some, and or having nonstop action on the bait once it gets down! What a magnificent animal I swear the last one I caught was 81 pounds and I took 81 photos! If you are ever lucky enough to see one of these and then put your hands on its 5foot, legit 'Sword Bill' I am certain you will not only be a changed person, but you will also be ruined!! Cause you are going to just want more and more! Ha! I'm not being facetious, Recently every aspect of offshore fishing has been extremely productive, weather you go to close rigs, lumps, or even the floaters, I'm willing to bet, you will never forget that day. Also we have just added 2 new boats in our fleet, we have a 600hp 33'x12' AMERICAT and a 900hp 38' FOUNTAIN, both of these boats have every piece of state-of-the-art fishing gear and technology! If it's possible for fish to eat that day, I can asure you we have everything it takes to put hooks in their mouths! we also have a wide range of bay boats for inshore fishing. lately inshore has been great! On a daily basis I've already seen Tons of trout hitting the dock, also tagging along with with them is big giant reds! Find us on face book Safari Blue Charters to contact us for a fishing trip you will have with you forever! you can reach us thru 5045593556

the inshore fishing has been phenomenal out of Venice! Seeing limits, (or damn near close to it) of flounder and reds, pretty much daily. The specks are starting to show up not very far from the marina at all! Sometimes it's just a couple minute boat ride, and you are already bending the rod! That time of year there isn't many throw backs, and you can sometimes get your limit of specks, and reds quick, than on to other species! We have a couple of inshore boats and captains open for charters! Don't forget about offshore charters either! Fall is the best time of year for giant tuna, wahoo, swordfish, and everything else! (Check out our offshore fourm on here search tunakilla)Also duck season is right around the corner. We offer a blast and cast type of trip where you can inshore fish and duck hunt in the same day! Contact for information on booking one of these trips you are sure not to forget! Give us a like and share on Facebook (Safari Blue Charters) for a nice discount!

Most days the weather has been phenomenal, you can still wear your summer cloths without getting cold at all! The only sweating you will do is when your battle one of these giant YFT's! This is definitely a factor of why it's our favorite time of year to fish! The rest of this month and next month should remain like this! Big tunas, wahoos, and blue water have showed up very close to land. This type of fishing should last thru the winter, our calendar is booking up fast for offshore, inshore, and duck hunts! This past week has been excellent!! Every rig I have tried to fish has produced fish in good numbers! Tuna are very plentiful, and so are the big mahi's! Not to mention the rip lately looks as if Guy Harvey painted it! Red snappers are close to 20lb limits, mangroves are huge and are usually no problem limits! Along with some delicious groupers, and any other reef species! Lately it has been as easy as just going out there, and putting the time and line in! Well legally it is not summertime, but to the offshore fish species it has been for about 2 months. It appears that one of our most favorite and preferred styles of fishing is happening right now! SUMMERTIME!! This style of fishing usually comes with very calm weather, crystal blue clean water closer in, live bait could be plentiful, schooly yellowfins in the 60-100lb class, big blackfins, majestic blue marlins, and a array of other fish species! On most days when the fish cooperate and bite rite, it is not unheard of to get a boat load of tunas with minimal effort! (excluding reeling them in, that is your job) Also this time of year, on a slow tuna bite day, in most cases getting a huge meat haul of big reef species is not difficult! Which so happens to be one of my favorite types of fishing! Just recently In many aspects, I had one of the best days of my career!!
I was with one of my best friends Capt. Jimmy Shaw with
Poco Loco Charters, and Out of nowhere a giant blue marlin (400-500lbs) swam right up to the boat, chasing a yellowfin she had just billed and wounded. The small yellowfin hid alongside the boat, meanwhile Jimmy and I instantly rigged up a rod suitable to handle such a giant fish, we new it was just a matter of seconds before she would disappear!! thankfully in the midst of chaos, we did it! I practically hand fed this giant blue marlin a 20 plus lb yellowfin from the fish box! One strong-willed and strong bodied man, battled her for over an hour and than billed her! She did multiple jumps, and sure put on a show for everyone that was out there! The sheer power of that animal is unreal! it is definitely a day I will never forget! So when would you like to have a day you and your crew will never forget?
I am open this Saturday-Monday if you are interested in taking a charter out of Venice! Also if you have your own boat and would like some great fishing knowledge and experience to come along with you please contact me! The lump is in full swing, big tunas wahoos, and giant acrobatic torpedoes (Makos) have showed up! The bite has been more good days than, fair! Also if the weather allows, the cloying rigs have been producing very nice tunas, Marlin, and also for some crazy reason big mahi's! I am open this Saturday and Sunday if any1 wants to take a crack at it!! I know I'm ready! Might just put on a red bandana and go to war with'em rambo style! That's how bad I want to put kilos of meat in the box! So if your off this gorgeous weekend give me a shout at (504)559-3556 or look up my facebook for pics of some of my trips under Mobil uploads!

It has been extremely hot this winter, and I'm not talking about outside being 40°-60° Almost every day this January! I'm in reference to the pelagic fish bite! It has been absolutely phenomenal!! With multiple large yellowfins tons of blackfins, and in the past 2 weeks, the huge wahoos have showed up! With some days resulting in bringing back plenty of each species! Very few days have been a poor bite. Also one giant mako has been killed, and plenty others have been spotted, hooked, and than no dice! But remember it is still January we have until mid April, for these awesome shenanigans to continue. Lump season is my 2nd favorite fishing season of the year, sometimes it's big weather, that makes you tuff, but mostly on a good bite day it's the big fish that really makes you tuff! Also the groupers and amberjacks are quite large! I have been doing research all offseason for yellow edge, snowy, scamp, swordfish, and tile fish spots. Although I have only been able to try and drop once this year, for less than an hour, I went 1 giant yellow edge for multiple! And I'm certain the other ones were studs as well! I should have landed all of them, but some giant dusky sharks obviously were a little more hungry than us! Talk about wanna pull ya hair out! Oh well I didn't try and catch any more, by the way I made 3 drops! Tripled every drop! My calendar is booking up fast!! So if an awesome adventure is what you desire out of venice contact me fast! Check out my Facebook page for photos of some of my trips!

In the summer when I found that nest of giant yellow edge groupers, I got extremely lucky that they were all big none of them was under 12 pounds!! I caught 18 of them that were over 20lbs, plus four for the record books in the 30 pound range! So what I'm saying is wintertime is allegedly the migration of big grouper, yeah they do somewhat migrate! That spot that found, which by the way there is four of them but one of the spots produced the records!! I would be willing to bet no one has it for years only because the fish were so big maybe no one has ever dropped on it before! Who knows! Anyways I have not been to those spots sense like June so I am willing to bet they have some massive groupers on it!! Who would like to find out? In grand isle I had a commercial fisherman offered me $10,000 for the number to those spots I said no way! I would like to have it when ever I want! So who would like to go with me and probably more than likely, hammer-jack those willy-whoppers!! I am sure they are there and they are probably HUGE!! How about yall call me up and let's do it who knows there may be some for the record books and in my opinion it is the prettiest fish and by all means the best tasting!! I haven't anything to beat it!! Also there are a lot of shrimp boats working the area!! Let's try for some big tuna as well! 504-559-3556

Ladies and gentlemen boys and girls dogs and cats roaches and rats!!! Or to whom it may concern!! Be advised that it is wintertime which sometimes equals sushi for 1000!! Meaning this time of the year with just a perhaps a little luck, you can get into schools of big giant yellow fins, big wahoos, big snappers, Big cobia's, big groupers, big hardtails, and of course turbo-magnum size mullets! Aka MULLITRONS, and those are just the bait!! Long as ya arm, I tell ya! When the fish cooperate it is usually stellar days! It is the start of our big fish migration and will last all the way through March. If we are lucky early to mid April! BUT THIS IS THE START!! Why not go at them in the beginning before everyone else is on top of them and they get slick like! I have already heard reports which are from an extremely reliable source that some of our favorite winter time fishing spots have had a big tunas Seen and actually caught! Also I fished 3 days last week, although It was slow I marked on the fish sonar a plethora of STUDS! Lost 2 or 3 decent to good size yellow fins, and a ton of blackfins! Not to mention a quick 7 man limit of real big red snappers, with a few real nice scamp groupers in the mix! if you would like to go out there on a charter or perhaps if you have your own boat I have all the tackle and equipment necessary to put hooks in their faces!! Let's do it just call me up and we shall figure it out not to mention this weekend looks phenomenal and the weather has been phenomenal for about a week or so. I know it is calm out there, well as of right now! So give me a shout at

So tuna and cobia fishing has still been incredible, when the weather allows you to go, also even if it is a little rough it is okay because the cobia are in 20 to 40 feet of water!! Yeah giant ones by the way!! A 100plus pounder was spotted in 24 feet of water in West Delta like six days ago!! Plus many that are 40 to 70 pounds are being caught when targeted correctly!! Also the Big yellow fins, giant black fins, and huge wahoo are still very close in, most times closer than 10 miles offshore!!

November 07, 2014 at 10:57am

Many capt.'s that have been fishing Venice for years are saying this is the best fall they have seen in years! With tons of monster yellowfins and black fins, not far from land at all! Some giant yellowfins were caught in 62 feet of water the other day!! That is just crazy!! Also offshore at the floaters has been phenomenal fishing! With most days almost double digit numbers in yellowfins, and big mahi's and wahoos has showed up! Fishing this October is deffinatly awesome!! Call me up for a charter or if you have your own boat! Find me on Facebook for pics of all my trips, here is my email to search

And marlin fishing is also awesome! One captain caught 6 billfish the other day, and many more seen and caught by the boats that go to the floaters! I have some days open in October for charters, and if you have your own boat I have all the knowledge and equipment necessary to fish for anything this time of year! It's an oil fish closely related to an escolar also know as snake mackerel or white tuna, which is an extremely delish white meat that has certain wax estars that the human body can only digest about 6 or 8 oz, more than that u would wish you had stock in tollliet paper! They say it's the best sashimi, and grilled fish you just can't eat to much
