Anybody know the resulte of the Media bass tournament that was held out of Delacroix Saturday?

April 16, 2012 at 6:23pm

I have a Humminbird 997c si gps on the boat I just purchased. My question is what Navionics chip would give me the best/most detail for the areas I fish. I mostly bass fish in Lafitte, Delacroix, Venice, Atchafalaya Basin, Bayou Black & surrounding areas. I also fish out of town a little, does Navionics have a chip that includes my home areas & the south region on one chip?? Thanks in advance.

Can anyone tell me what the water clarity is in the Ticfaw River right now? Lookin to make a trip this weekend and wondering if its fishable or not after the recent rains. Thank you in advance for any info.

Can anyone tell me if there are any ducks in East Pointe a la Hache? A friend of mine has some land he gave me permission to hunt. He has not hunted it this year and i was wondering if it would be worth the trip? Any info would be appreciated.

Has anyone been to Venice since the water went down? Just wondering how the grass in the ponds made out, is it still in tact or did it get ripped out from the storm surge? The weekend before the storm everything was looking great, had a few birds down and feed everywhere. Mainly concerned about the grass in the ponds since i cant get back down there to check it out before saturday. I will be out there saturday morning regardless of the situation. Thanks for any info and good luck saturday morning.

I know this is a touchy subject on here but anyone been catching any bass in venice lately with the river being low? Have the bass returned down river yet? Caught a few fish last year but i stayed upriver. And most importantly did the grass return down river yet? It should be back real good with these two high rivers in the past 2 years. Any info would be apreciated.

Has anyone been bass fishing in Caernarvon lately? Just wondering if the grass has returned yet and if anyone has been doing any good? I haven't fished there since ike & gustav. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Fellow bass fisherman. If you had to narrow down one area to fish in Bayou Black what would it be? Not asking for any honey holes, just a general area, Shell canals, Bayou Copasaw canals, Turtle bayou, Union oil field, St. Paul or Orange Grove? I fished Bayou Black twice in my life with weak results. It is a big area to learn when you dont fish it much. Thanks in advance for any help.

Does anyone know if the rumba doll spinnerbait is being made again? If they are who sells them?

January 13, 2009 at 11:59pm

Anyone have any reports on the duck situation in venice? I went scouting thursday around the delta refuge and pass a loutre wma and seen maybe 500 ducks. I covered alot of area in about 5 hours and it didnt look too promising. Has anyone else seen any ducks? It would make me feel alot better if someone else seen more than i did.

November 03, 2008 at 7:50pm

Anyone seeing any ducks anywhere yet? Venice, Salvador/Lafitte, Delacroix or P.A.C.? We only got 17 more days to go and was wondering if anyone is seeing any with the recent fronts?

October 21, 2008 at 2:10pm

Does anyone know what happened to the Bohemia land in plaquemines parish? Does the state still own it? Can you still hunt the land or does it belong to a private owner? There was some decent hunting there. Does anyone know anything about it or where can i go to find out who owns it and if you can hunt it? Any info would be appreciated.

Anyone doing any good bass fishing in lake catouatche or the lafitte area? Were there any fish kills? Just wondering how the area fared and if anyone is catching any bass after gustav?

JUST PICKED UP MY NEW YELLOW LAB THIS PAST WEEKEND. I WANT TO SEND HIM TO A TRAINER WHEN HE GETS OF AGE. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHERE TO SEND HIM? JUST WANT TO BE SURE I SEND HIM TO A REPUTABLE TRAINER.

December 03, 2007 at 8:42pm

ANYONE DO ANY GOOD ON SALVADOR WMA. BUDDY OF MINE WENT OPENING MORNING & GOT HIS 6 BY 07:30 4 GW TEAL & 2 GREYS. JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE DID ANY GOOD?

November 11, 2007 at 2:26pm

I HAVE BEEN HUNTING THE BAPTISTE COLLETTE AREA FOR OVER 15 YEARS NOW AND I WAS WONDERING IF I WAS THE ONLY ONE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR BOATS. EVERY OPENING WEEKEND THEY ARE DROPPING THEIR BUDDIES OFF AND RUNNING ALL OVER THE MARSH FROM DAYLIGHT TIL. I HAVE CURRENT PLAQUEMINES PARISH MAPS OF WHAT IS PUBLIC & WHAT IS PRIVATE. I WAS TOLD THEIR IS AN ORDINANCE IN PLAQUEMINES PARISH THAT PROHIBITS AIR BOATS ON ANY LAND THATS NOT OWNED OR LEASED, I CONFIRMED THIS WITH THE WLF & PLAQUEMINES POLICE. HOPEFULLY THEY WILL GET THEM THIS YEAR, I HAVE TALKED WITH BOTH LAST SEASON AND TODAY AND SAID THEY WILL BE IN THE AREA & I WILL BE IN CONTACT WITH WLF AS SOON AS I SEE THEM RUNNING THE DUCKS. ITS THE SAME TWO GROUPS YEAR AFTER YEAR.

November 02, 2007 at 7:08pm

ANYONE SEEING ANY TEAL IN VENICE YET? WENT FISHING DOWN MAIN PASS THIS PAST WEEKEND AND HAVEN'T SEEN ANY.

Choupiques 16 and got a limit are correct. I have have maps of all Plaquemines Parish school board property from 15 years ago and a lot of it is now leased, including a certain area that I have hunted for close to 20 years. It is not the leasee or landowners responsibilty to post it as private, it is the hunters responsibility to know where he is. Not to be rude but If you don't know don't go. I would never go hunting a piece of land because someone told me it was public.

A comment titled: Re: Your opinion in response to a report titled: Your opinion

The guy was simply explaining a situation that happened to him and asking for people's opinions on the matter. Did you even read the post? I would hardly consider what he said as bashing Sweetwater. I can think of plenty things he could have said if he was strictly on here to bash someone. I launch at Sweetwater all the time and have nothing but good things to say. I know it wasn't Jack that you talked to about the payment or it would have been handled totally different. Super nice guy and great customer service.

Yeah you are right redfish19. You would definitely have to pick your days. Personally I wouldn't do it from Manchac to Delacroix either. Lake P. can definitely get nasty in a hurry. Doesn't take much over a 10 mph wind to do it either on a lake that size. However I do know some people that would do it with the right amount of money involved.

Pintaildrake09 what are you talking about? Nobody said he went to another area to stock up on fish.He won no matter where he fished. I was curious if you were able to run there.
Seeing a 15 lb bag is extremely rare for that area. I'm not saying it couldn't be done. That nice kicker they had definitely makes it possible.
And yes you can fish Delacroix for this tournament. So if he did or didn't go to Delacroix doesn't matter. I have a full time job and a family too. I guess I can't fish a tournament in Manchac and run somewhere else because I have a job and a family. That makes no sense whatsoever. The guys that fish the Pearl river circuit run to Delacroix all the time. Nothing wrong with going to a different area if the tournament boundaries allow it.

A comment titled: Manchac to Delacroix in response to a report titled: June 21 Manchac Results

Manchac to Delacroix is not a hard run if its not too windy. Key word is wind. On a day like today it would be easy. You don't think those guys that catch 15 to 20 pound bags for the Pearl River tournaments are catching all of them in the Pearl do you? Sure once in a while they do, but it's not very typical. Why run from Manchac to Delacroix you ask? That's like saying why run from Westwego to Venice. 8 times out of 10 the people running to Venice are going to kick your butt. I've seen people run from Morgan City to Westwego for tournaments when Lake Cataouatche was in it's prime. You would be surprised what some people would do to win.

You are exactly right BRFrogman. I see you know the characteristics of that area also.I am trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. I have been around the tournament scene for quite a few years also and that is the biggest limit I have ever seen or heard of from that area. If those fish were caught from that area then congrats to them. That's why I asking if you could run to Delacroix for the tournament. And redshad12 you correct, a 15+ pound stringer is extremely out of the ordinary for that area.

That's a nice limit for the Manchac area. Were they allowed to run to Delacroix for this tournament?

A comment titled: Yamaha in response to a report titled: Motor Question

I have an '04 Yamaha 4stroke w/ 570 hours on it. All I ever had to do was clean out the thermostat that was stuck open with trash making the engine idle @ 900 rpm instead of 700. The engine doesn't clog up easily. I go through plenty shallow water & mud during duck season, grass and lilies when I'm fishing and it is the hardest motor to clog up that I have ever seen. Imo they are the most reliable/dependable motor there is. I wouldn't own anything else.

A comment titled: Saltwater in response to a report titled: Lake Catouache Grass

Definitely not saltwater intrusion. There was grass and I was catching bass in the Texaco canals and all the way down by Three Bayou Bay this summer in Lafitte. The saltwater has to pass those areas to get to Lake Catouatche.

A comment titled: Lake Catouatche in response to a report titled: What happened to the grass/bass?

No grass = no bass. I, like most people from around here, watched Lake Cat rise to glory then fall off the map even faster. As long as there is no grass Lake Cat will never be the same. You can't catch what isn't there. The fry have no chance of survival without it. I think you will all be amazed at how low the population is in there now. When the grass was there it was nothing to catch your limit and have a few 3's,4's & 5's mixed in with an occasional lunker. I have documented trips where I went fishing twice a week from May till August and never caught under a 16 lb. 5 fish stringer with the best stringer going 22.5 lbs and all of these weights are after the spawn during the summer months. Any serious bass fisherman that has fished there consistently for the past 10 years knows what I'm talking about and will vouch for what I'm saying. A friend of mine caught and released 3 bass over 7 lbs. in one day during the spawn. It was like bass heaven. You could catch fish from the diversion all the way out to Bay Bardeaux & Lake Salvador.I can't even catch 5 fish on most trips now. Have you paid attention to the weights of tournaments out of there over the years? If you think that high population of bass is still there and nobody is catching them because they aren't concentrated then you are sadly mistaken. The fishery recovered quickly after Katrina and Rita because of the high population of fish and the grass came back with a vengeance the following years which made the fry survival rate skyrocket. Until the grass returns that place will never be the same and you can take that to the bank.

Plain and simple reason to vote for it. It will make the law abiding citizens right to keep & bear arms even stronger! Louisiana will have the strongest laws for gun owners in this country if this is passed. End of story!

A comment titled: Ring Free in response to a report titled: More supplements

Definitely use Yamaha Ring Free.Pretty expensive but it works. You might have to shock treat your motor first if you havent been running it!just follow the directions on the bottle. Once you shock the motor the stuff goes a pretty long way since you only have to add 1 ounce to 10 gallons of fuel.

A comment titled: Talon in response to a report titled: Power Pole or Talon?

I prefer the Talon. no hydraulic pump in your boat, nothing to fill up & and I love the fact I alternate it between my flat boat and bass boat with the quick connections that I have. Takes less than 2 minutes. Also you can take it off in 30 seconds and put it in your house, garage or shed if you want so nobody steals it.

A comment titled: R1331 DOCUMENT in response to a report titled: Out of state boat registration checklist in New Orleans

I recently bought a bass boat from Nevada and just went through the process. If you purchased the boat from an individual and not a dealer you DO NOT need to fill out the R1331 form. You only pay taxes on the trailer. Being that the boat doesnt have any numbers might be a different situation though.
