Went out to bayou black today and fished 7 hours, I did manage to catch a few with my 5 best going 11.2#. I did a lot of running and found muddy water all over, I found some cleaner water in the turtle bayou area (1 canal had clean water). Fished grass lines, behind the grass and in the grass with no luck, all fish were caught off of points with clean moving water. Tite Linze

Ok I am trying to figure false river out a little, I have never done much to brag about here so I'm asking if someone can shed some light on what works best to catch bass out there, I'm talking about catching them in the day time not at night. I know there is a couple canals on each end and after that docks and more docks and brush piles that the locals have placed out, so what can I do to improve my catch and release rate.

Ok I went to bayou black yesterday for the first time and and fished a tournament and didn't do to good, if someone could tell me the patterns out there and techniques would be great, I don't want a specific hot spot but just a litte help on what worse best

I think I have made my last trip to okhissa lake in Franklin county mississippi, the past 3 times I have been I have caught a total of 2 fish and both of those were very poor looking. This place used to be great but something major has happened or I just don't know what I'm doing anymore. I fished deep points yesterday, ledges, shallow and deep banks and even tried punching in the trashy looking submerged grass they have. Does anyone know what is going on there and if yall are catching them how cause I have threw my whole tackle box at them and nothing works. But my assumption is that there is no food for them and that the population is just gone but I don't think I'm going back unless something changes

Man its been a struggle this past month, I've fished pigeon, verret, old river and just can't seem to find em. I'm guessing it's because of the cool water Temps and the weather but I hope my luck turns around. Tight lines

Hello I'm looking to join a bass club around denham springs or baton Rouge,

November 24, 2014 at 8:35pm

Ok I fished old river for the first time this past weekend and I don't know if I like it or not. I started off right beside old river landing throwing buzz baits around the docks with no success so I went straight across from the landing where there is a stretch of cypress trees in about 5 foot of water, well I caught two nice bass on a spinner and then threw a berkley powerbait curly tail (my favorite soft plastic by the way) and pulled in about 10 more all in that 100 yard stretch of cypress. So I went to search for more fish and basically rode around the whole place and most spots were very shallow with no structure and I didn't get a bite anywhere else, so I went back to the spot that caught fish and caught a fee more. I had a good day but just in one spot so I'm not sure if I like it or not. Anyway can someone try to fill me in on the place and maybe tell me the patterns out there cause I sure couldn't figure it out.

Hey my man I was down there a few months back and if you have been down there before there is a bait shop before you get to the lake. The owners of that lake have spots to put a camper trailer or they have trailers you can rent, I don't have much more info than that but if you do some digging you can find out.

Man on my records when the stage at bayou sorrel is at 5' and falling you can have some of the best times of your life all you need to do is find the runouts, I'll tell you a couple that is fire and headed to the catfish bayou on your left be lookin and you can see where the water is coming from the woods, and pretty much pick your bait of choice, I personally throw a jackall boil trigger in the morning and then switch to a crank, but it's a great time to bring your kids because you can literally catch all you can but good luck and tite lines

That's sad then after all the money that was spent on building the place, that they would just let it go like that, what gets me is how they just all die off, but man I'm telling you I fished my butt off and didn't get a bite. It used to be nice to because when the river is high and the achafalaya is high I like to go there but I want waste the money anymore

Man I've learned over the years it doesn't help to ask people every little detail about what the bass are doing, what they did today want work tomorrow, the best advice I can give you is get out there and start with a jig a just color to water clarity, Then try a deep crank or slow roll a spinner, or jerk a bait slow, or finesse worm, or drop shot, no but really just get out there and find a pattern and let the bass tell you what's going on, also keep you a log book and record every detail of your day like moon phase ambient temp and water temp ect. But just get out there and fish and you'll get better with time good luck

Well thanks you I sure appreciate it man and I'll check it out next time out and work some crank baits over it and see what I do. You would think around the docks would produce fish but I haven't had any luck yet and I'm sure people do real good around the docks I just need to get more experience with the place.

I really don't no the names of the place but if I launch at old river landing take a right and go to where you can either go left or right and you say take a left and it's down a little ways on the left, I'll have to try it out, so what is it, I'm looking for do I need to use my electronics to find it?? It would be nice if they had a map of the place
