Really wanted to go after redfish but there were so many birds diving in bayou terrebonne and all the waterways east we couldn't help but to stop and fish. Lots of undersized trout but wound up with 16 keepers all on plastics under a cork. After the birds quit diving we started hitting the shorelines of bayous with fresh shrimp under a cork and tsunami swim baits and got 6 keeper reds. The marsh is loaded with shrimp and fish right now, just follow the birds.

About 15 years ago a friend took me catfishing next to a grain elevator on the Mississippi River somewhere between Baton Rouge and Donaldsonville. He drove his truck all the way down to the river and we filled an ice chest. I went back a few months later and two guys on a golf cart told me I couldn't fish on the grain elevator property and I haven't been back since.

I would like to take my daughter to catch some catfish. Anybody know of any spots like this that can be fished from the bank or can you only fish them by boat? Or are there any of the bar pits not on private property that can be fished with a small bateau? Thanks

Took the skiff out this morning with my brother to burn some old gas out. Launched in the Amite River south of Denham Springs and set out a trot line and a couple of jugs. Only got a turtle on the trot line and this unpleasant surprise on one of my jugs.

Anybody know where I can get the lid of an ice chest that doubles as a seat recovered around Baton Rouge?

Fished out of Hopedale yesterday with my Dad, Uncle and Cousin. Weather man was way off. Got soaked when storms blew through around 8 and winds picked up to 15-20mph for the rest of the day. Hit a bunch of spots in muscle bay, stump lagoon, Pete's lagoon, ponds off spoil canal and bayou south of lagoon Brady. Caught about 10 specks but only 2 hit the ice. Kept 3 drum and 3 sheephead. Hard falling tide all day, probably the clearest water I've ever seen in hopedale. Water temp was between 57-60.

Fished out of BSM yesterday off of spoil canal. Caught a 26' red right off the bat then nothing for a while. Ended up picking up one speck and a drum. All caught on tsunami holographic swim baits.

They have a website that monitors the opening and closing of the gates. May find a map on there.

So you’re telling me I own the air above my house that is free flowing and I can’t contain? I should really look into charging all those planes and helicopters.

Try the broken marsh on the East or West side of the HNC.

The locks on little caillou.

Hit the Western shoreline of the bay on the East side of Sevin canal.

Try the large platforms in lake barre. Look for birds diving in the bays east of cocodrie or go up to Madison bay and fish points and cuts.

If I were you I would reschedule to another weekend. Right now they are forecasting 22mph SE winds which on the water is going to be 30. Any open water is going to be too rough. If you still plan to go I would suggest trying the back side of Cocodrie between Hwy 56 and the ship channel and fish the marsh.

I just attended the Texas Farm-Ranch-Wildlife expo in Abilene and attended the seminar put on by the TA&M agri-life extension office about feral hogs. This pesticide has NOT been approved for use in Texas yet. The EPA has approved it but no states, yet. They do expect it to be approved for use in Texas some time this year.

They did do field trials with this pesticide and they used a dye that turned all of the fat on the hog a bright blue. I am not sure if they are going to use that dye in the actual product.

The label requires that the feeder not be placed in any open fields or any pastures that have livestock. It must be placed in a brushy area and the lid must weight 8-10 lbs. The active ingredient is only .005% so it is fairly weak. As far as a lethal dose, they just fall asleep and die. They estimate they have 5 million hogs and 4 million white tail. Hogs are killing fawns and eating quail and turkey eggs. In order to keep the current population, they would need to kill 30% of the population every year. Hogs are shot anytime they show themselves but one sow can produce 50 offspring in two years. Texas is getting desperate.

Happened to me a couple weekends ago. Tradewinds and Cajun bait were both out. No wait still had some though. It blows my mind that coco marina doesn't sell bait.

I appreciate the responses Tony and I understand you are trying to improve the site because you're right, the old site was outdated. But it really helped being able to see a preview of the post and not have to guess from a vague title if the post is relevant to me or not.

Also is it just me or are the articles on the main page getting updated less frequently? It seems like before the update there were 5 or 6 new articles posted daily. Now I see maybe 1 or 2. am I doing something wrong?

I agree. I liked being able to read a snippet of the post to see if it was something I was interested in and who had replied. Really dislike the new format guys. There was nothing wrong with the old one.

If you can, try to get out to last island, the sulphur mine or Timbalier island. If not try the islands and reefs in lake barre and lake felicity.

There's a pond outside of central, black water I believe it's called. It has about a 30 foot dock running down the edge of it.

Either one of those chemicals will work, just follow the label rates.

How big is the pond? If you can get a hold of some Arsenal which is salt of imazapyr or Rodeo which is glyphosate with an aquatic label they will work.
