A comment titled: Re: Bayou black in response to a report titled: Bayou black

I agree with above, the tide must be moving. I have a lease off of the copasaw, almost to lake penchant. When I go, I never go to just fish, but I always have poles in the gator tail. The times I do best are when the water is falling hard out of the marsh and the clean water mixes with the muddy water. find any cuts in the marsh that are like this and you will do well.Usually will do good either early morning or late afternoon. Hope this helps. Just watch out for Mr. Crawford if you are back there, I have heard of a lot of folks getting run out.

Good luck fishing.

A comment titled: Island Road public Launch in response to a report titled: Yak fishing in PAC or Dularge area?

My mother and I went for Mother's Day and set some crab nets, and fished while waiting. water wasn't clear, got a few hits on my tiger vudu shrimp. paddled into the shallow pond areas, had lots of reds, not too big, probably barely legal; but we could not get them to hit on anything. only thing I did not have with me to try was topwater baits.. The best luck I have had is out of PAC marina, I jump across the canal and work all of the marsh area, and get back to the main canal about a 1/4 mile from the marina and work the banks back.. I tend to do well near the pipeline crossing that have the large rocks.. typically pop a black and chartreuse under a cork.. about 15-18's down.. One thing to remember about this area is that it is pretty darn shallow..3 foot or less besides in the main canal that goes to lake chein..

Nice haul, had fun and a good dinner that night too I am sure. I want to go put in off of LA 1 just north of Elmer's island, but on the north side of the highway.. seems like a promising area..

This is an area that I have been wanting to go try out. Do you use the launch that is behind that shell station off of LA 1?

Seems that even the shrimp aren't there. Have some buddies who trawl for a living, inshore and offshore, they came in because they were wasting there time.. and fuel..

Is this going to be close to Bobby Lynn's Marina area? I am the Houma area, but have not gone down that way in a couple years. -Ben

Well, I know this may not be one that you are looking at, but I've had this one for about a year.. and I would not recommend it. Its slow, heavy.. 96 Lbs with seat, and I had to reseal all the hatches with marine grade adhesive because they leaked. It is however very stable! I will be purchasing a Ocean Kayak Trident 13 in the very near future. Hope this helps you.

Thanks guys, I'm looking forward to hitting up these spots soon! It's amazing how much fun it is to fish out of a yak! Since I bought mine about a year ago, I've gotten about 8 of my buddies into it too! See y'all out there! Ben

Hello there, I am new to this forum, and kayak fishing for that matter. I live in Houma and mostly fish in the pointe aux cheines and cocodrie area. I am looking to head down to leeville/elmers island/ fourchon area; can you give me an idea of where to try/ launch at?

Looks like you and your son had a blast by the way! Nice catch!
